Alec this is awesome man. U really know what a guitar player needs and u do this with no ego, pure value. Keep it up
glad you found some value in it. cheers
This is so great man, you saved me hours of transcribing!
Awesome dude! Very happy it was helpful!
BROO SAME!!! been procrastinating this same lick for hours and then I found this..
This is invaluable. Thanks so much for sharing
geoblu7 thanks man so glad u dig it
Holy shit I can’t believe this video exists. Thank you for this!
very talented Alec, very awsome
Awesome video, thanks for the breakdown man! 🤘🏼
man i really appreciate this kinda stuff! thanks
glad you find it helpful!!
Thanks for sharing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 awesome work
Just came across this video, nice work! I thought I'd offer one small common to anyone reading this. That first lick, while looking like Am (dorian), it's over D7 from Sunshine of Your Love. It's a cool placement of a minor7 arpeggio over a dominant 7 chord.
Wow... amazing lesson man. You earned a new subscriber!
thanks man appreciate it!
mannnn... thank you so much for this... gonna diveeee in
Thank you , you have a wonderful gift! Could you maybe explain more about the George Benson way of picking?
Thank you again , happy holidays!
Mr1GingerBread1 hey thanks for checking out my channel. As far as Benson picking, I would focus on listening to his records and then mimicking by listening vs watching video and mimicking by watching.
If that doesn’t help there are a ton of cats on RUclips that can benson pick better then me lol and they got the demos to prove it.
Cheers
Great work Man! really thanks for this! i hope you gonna do other videos on this argument!
thanks Luca!
Learnt a lot from this video.
If it weren't for you I wouldn't have noticed that the last two chords in lick 5 and 6 were three note dominant voicings.
Just a random commentary, over the years I've noticed every jazz guitarist knows some variation of the first lick lol.
Great video! Thank you so much!
Thanks David! So glad it was helpful
Awesome bro!
thanks ! Glad u dig it
Could you do a video like this on Jarius Mozee? 🙏😊🎸
hey man. JMo has his own courses called industry lessons I’d encourage you to check out. You can learn straight from the source
Your tone is killer man...sounds like a Fender Rhodes above the 12th fret area.
good shit. keep these up
jjkimmusic thanks man. Hope u find this helpful!
Great Video!!
Thanks Achiko!
You're a beast. Ty subbed 👌🏽
SUBSCRIBED.
Good stuff, man!
Thanks Joseph!
👀 that was a challenge
Top 3, for this video. His arsenal is way more advance than 3 licks.
First off, these are great, so thank you. But in the future, can you just add the info of what chord, progression or harmony Isaiah (or any musician) is playing these over? I find that ideas this aren't useful unless I know the musical context to make it a practical application for myself. BTW, I know you talk about it a little at the end. Just a little info with each idea to help.
wow very helpful, u have a awesome ear.
Thanks man glad you found this helpful!!
Great video. I'm curious how you pick for those superfast licks. Do you need to sweep pick or can you cross pick?
todoroki hey thanks! Which super fast lick are you talking about?
what scale does he use to achieve that sound and style
Really helpful video! if you could only go a little slower when teaching it, it'll be a lot more easier ;)
Loving it!
Ok thank you for the feedback! Will trying doing them slower in the future! Cheers!
0:48 whats scale use?
Dorian with a pickup note
what was the first song they were playing???? It's a well known rock riff I just can't remember it.
Benny Ubub sunshine of your love by cream
where can i find isaiah work?Does he have an album or something?
gabriel ferreira he's worked with D'Angelo and other artists
He literally has an album.
Do you have som sheets on these licks?
what do you mean?
Ive just found another Isaiahs usage of that lick 5-6 in ruclips.net/video/1ACatF90FL4/видео.html around 1.24
I bet you can't do tim stewart!
That's not the kind of licks i recognize him by
Great. Now every cat is gonna be trying to squeeze these in wherever they can, like they're the one's who heard it and put in the time to shed it out. It'll end up being like the lick everyone plays, but wrong and out of context. Like learning the wrong part.
What's the point wasting ur time learning licks?! Isaiah plays from his ❤& Soul! No 1 can "teach" or 'learn" what God gave him gifted talented musical Supernatural genius! Now go teach that!
KINGS ROAR I understand that the sum is greater than the parts. But with this logic, there would no point in ever studying licks from Hendrix, Clapton, Django, or any of the greats. However, every player studies the greats. Why? Because there is something to be learned from breaking down the sum into smaller elements. By your logic, there would be no point in ever studying anyone great at his or her craft
Alec !Ur right, alot of musicians study better musicians If so learn "the whole song" it's okay to learn Joca, Miles, Duke and West! Save the 👅for wen u know how to apply them on stage...
These licks are crazy fast and props to Alec for taking the time to break it down for us. There are possibly ZERO vids of Sharkey teaching any of his techniques. But ya, the goal obviously isnt to copy, but to learn these licks to sharpen your skills and maybe incorporate these ideas into your playing.
