    Thanks for all your help. I'm so frustrated with the new templates. It doesn't let us take off the service/product or even change column widths. Or am I missing something? We have a lot of 2-page invoices now because we can't stretch the description column out. Oh well I guess. I was using our old template, but then you can't preview or do some others things.

      Agreed, the new template is a step down. Please click "Feedback" on the invoice and let Intuit know how you feel!

    Do you know how to attach receipts for billable expenses on the new invoice layout? I have been using the old, because you can click attach to email down in the attachments section. I bill 90% billable expenses, so not having this feature adds a tremendous amount of work for me. Right now I just have the receipt attached to all expenses that I enter, and I can check the box to attach to email. I don't see any way to do that on the new layout that we are now being forced to use.

      You may want to reach out to QBO support. When I add attachments to an invoice in the new layout I see a an "Attach to email" checkbox appear for each attachment. The new layout does have some bugs, this might be one of them.

      Where on the page do you see the attach to email checkbox? I do see it on the old layout, but not the new one.

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  6 месяцев назад

      @@TheRunwayRyan It appears above the "add attachments" box. So between where it says "Attachments" and the box you click to add the attachments.

    • @TheRunwayRyan
      @TheRunwayRyan 6 месяцев назад

      Hmm. I see the option to add attachments, but I would have to drag and drop receipts from my desktop to get that one to work. That won’t work because sometimes there 30+ receipts

      I finally am forced to use the new template... my invoices are 90% billable time & expenses... did you find any resolve?? or workaround?

    Do you know how to view the transaction journal behind the invoice with the new layout? Before, you could click more and transaction journal.

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  3 месяца назад

      Yes! Click Manage to open the menu on the right of the invoice. At the top of that menu is a little Actions drop-down menu. At the very bottom of Actions menu is the transaction journal. They've certainly made it difficult to find all the things we're used to.

    Thanks for the video!
    Do you know if we can edit the layout of the "PDF View" on the Modern design? Before, I could go into Custom Form Styles and customize the Invoice layout & content, but now even when I create a Custom Form using a "modern" template, it still appears under the "Other Templates (view only)" when I create a new invoice. Thus, there's no email or PDF view available. Why wouldn't it be under "Recommended Templates" like the other Modern option? How can we customize this new layout further, like moving the invoice number to the top of the page versus the middle?
    Appreciate your help & expertise!

      I have a video coming out next week on customizing invoices with the new layout. Unfortunately, I came across exactly the same problems you mention. Custom Form Styles is the place to go to do any "real" edits but you can't preview your custom templates. It's not great.
      I'd highly suggest clicking Feedback in the upper right corner and letting Intuit know that you want the ability to fully edit AND preview invoices.

    Any idea if we can take some of the columns off? We don't list the product/services on our invoices nor do we want BOTH the rate and the amount.

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, you'll have to create a custom template. I have a video coming out next week that talks more about customizing invoices with the new layout. I have an older video on editing invoice templates, the process for that is still the same: ruclips.net/video/yy2wzuBIsR4/видео.html
      Unfortunately, if you use a custom template you can no longer use the previews in the new layout, but you can email a copy to yourself before sending it to a client. I address this in next week's video.

    Can I add a custom footer to this new modern invoice layout like I can in the older standard style? As a electrical contractor in Texas, I am required by law to have a certain text on every invoice and estimate.

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  5 месяцев назад

      I would add it to the section called "note to customer". I will look around for a a way to make this a default, but I don't know where that setting is for the new layout yet.
      I'd definitely use the "Feedback" option on the new layout (upper right) and let them know you want the option for a custom footer.

    Hi, when I send invoices via email, the body text appears centered. Do you have any idea how to customize the email template to ensure the text is left-aligned? Thank you. :D

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  5 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately I don't know of a way to edit the formatting of the email. I'd suggest hitting Feedback (in the upper right of the new invoice) and letting Intuit know that you'd like to be able to edit the email formatting.

    Is there a way to change the Qty to a percentage instead in the invoices?

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  5 месяцев назад

      Not on a "regular" invoice in the new or old layout. If you want to charge a percentage you may want to check out Progress Invoicing: ruclips.net/video/ymDDUAeY06U/видео.html

  • @darlenemiller4301

    Thank you. We use percent complete invoicing (50%, 80% and 100%) - but i don't see that available with the "new look" invoices. Any thoughts?

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  6 месяцев назад

      That would be progress invoicing. You can turn it on in the sales settings. It requires you to create an Estimate and then you can turn that estimate into an invoice and select how much of the original invoice you want to collect by dollar amount or percentage. I have a video on Progress Invoicing but it does not show the new layouts: ruclips.net/video/ymDDUAeY06U/видео.html

      @darlenemiller4301 6 месяцев назад

      @@GentleFrog Yes. We have been using "progress" invoicing for years, but my question was how to use it in the new layout.

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  6 месяцев назад

      I don't have a video on it yet. You can play around with it in the QBO test drive account: qbo.intuit.com/redir/testdrive
      You'll have to turn on progress invoicing, and the new layout, the test drive account does not have them turned on automatically.

    Thank you - very helpful overview. Do you know how to customize the email body text? Before the recent template update, I could just type in the text of the email within the "Email body" window after clicking Review and send. But now that window is greyed out and I can no longer enter text there - instead the default email text shows, and you can't change it from that screen. I can go into Manage online delivery settings and change the default email text each time, but that involves several additional steps. I often have to send custom email messages with client invoices, and I haven't found an easy way to do that yet with this template revision.

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  8 месяцев назад

      When I click "Review and send" the Email body text is a light gray but I can still click into the box and edit the text.
      You should contact QBO support about this: quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/quickbooks-online-support/L6WqNrDq0_US_en_US

      @@GentleFrogThanks! I can edit the grayed out text too, but then the text I enter doesn't appear in the email that actually gets sent. Instead, it just reverts to the default email text I created through Manage online delivery settings. I'll contact QBO support - appreciate the link!

    How do I remove the company phone number and email address from QBO invoice?

    • @GentleFrog
      @GentleFrog  5 месяцев назад

      I don't know of a way to do this on a single invoice in the new layout. You can click "Edit company" under your company information. That will open a "My company" pop-out but if you edit anything there it changes it everywhere, not just on that invoice.
