In the end they tied and became friends, Davie kept Violin-chan but will treat her kindly.

I really love how Brett can really embody the madness, derangement and paranoia of this music/Shostakovich in general. It's definitely something different, sometimes not even 'better' musicians can play that... And because of that, it's translated to the whole quartet. Definitely one of the best, if not the best recording of this piece... Edit: And I must add, Eddy is shredding it FIERCELY! I love the passion they both have for Shostakovich!
I love this piece and I have never heard it played with such ENERGY They actually channel the music and composer!! Also, props to the girl representing viola gang so well
This takes the spot for best performance. I actually get the individual insturments, the viola comes through strong. I dont have an instrument and I still need to practice

he had to be involved with stalin as a large classical composer in the soviet union at the time, and stalin used his name to spew a lot of horrible bullshit, so he wrote this to express his distaste and suicidality during this. he wrote the whole quartet is about 3 days.
for the most part, yeah, but i think twoset nailed the part where it just seems like it’s all falling apart (2:27), it all sounds so nice with the undeniable chaos yet the ability to hear every player perfectly and no sense of sloppiness
