      this is a masterpiece only in so far as it was written by a master, but it's shit music. It was purposefully meant to be shit music, as protest against soviet government.

      @katierose33 Год назад +24

      @@minnieyuyantung There were seven rounds where they competed, such as who can play the fastest, saddest, most versatile, etc. The round where TwoSet played this was who could make the judge headbang the most and Davie won. In the end they tied and became friends, Davie kept Violin-chan but will treat her kindly.

    Jesus Christ I'm screaming. I love the small glances they give each other towards the end. 02:32 You can totally see Brett madly giggling to himself like 'oh it's coming, it's coming, teehee, you ready?' while Eddy is all focused and then just 'oh, damn, it's here' and glances for a split second at Brett. Awards to all of you you killed it

      It's chamber music, all 4 parties need glances to communicate with each other, there's no maestro. I don't think it was over excitement that this or that part is there! 😂

    I really love how Brett can really embody the madness, derangement and paranoia of this music/Shostakovich in general. It's definitely something different, sometimes not even 'better' musicians can play that...
    And because of that, it's translated to the whole quartet. Definitely one of the best, if not the best recording of this piece...
    Edit: And I must add, Eddy is shredding it FIERCELY! I love the passion they both have for Shostakovich!

      he had to be involved with stalin as a large classical composer in the soviet union at the time, and stalin used his name to spew a lot of horrible bullshit, so he wrote this to express his distaste and suicidality during this. he wrote the whole quartet is about 3 days.

      for the most part, yeah, but i think twoset nailed the part where it just seems like it’s all falling apart (2:27), it all sounds so nice with the undeniable chaos yet the ability to hear every player perfectly and no sense of sloppiness
