Such a powerful song remember playing the alto sax solo as a freshman in high school was amazing that i was able to get the solo. And that song takes so muxh work for the band or ensemble and the conductor. This sounded absolutely beautiful. Wish had a video of mine back in 2000 oh well do have a cd of it somewhere. Throughly enjoyed this.

I distinctly remember performing this lovely piece of music, in concert band, at Waldorf-Pemberton High School in Waldorf, Minnesota United States. This performance here is the best I've heard in a very long time. Bravo, to everyone performing here in this video!

My favorite song ever, I play bass clarinet for this after volunteering since there were none, easy but so beautiful and unique. Playing it tonight in 1 hour 👀 can’t wait, but sad it’s our last time ❤❤❤

Such a fabulous piece-- I fell in love with it in high school when our symphonic band went to state contests and played this. Still gives me goosebumps

The faster tempo was the way John Zdechlik had originally written the piece. However, years later a former music camp director of mine got to meet him and showed him how much more beauty and artistry there is to this piece, and according to the story as it was told to me, Mr. Zdechlik actually agreed with him! I have had the privilege of both playing and conducting this piece and I must say I tend to take some artistic liberties throughout while at the podium. Also if you trace the heritage of these songs, they aren't originally written to be performed "fast" so it is possible to remain true to the original music, and to the guidelines Mr. Zdechlik has brilliantly laid out, and come up with a beautiful performance, such as this one!
