- Elliot's sister gets hacked by his sister but clearly its not Elliot who catches her in the middle of the night. Has Mr. Robot's plans been compromised by Darlene?

Five weeks on, Elliot works his way up within E Corp, turning in lower executives and convincing a middle manager to start digitizing the paper records while secretly moving the rest away from the Stage 2 building to an E Corp warehouse. Scott Knowles is arrested for Sharon's murder. Joanna goes on television saying she will always love Tyrell; Derek kills her and Mr. Sutherland kills Derek. An unknown source releases another fsociety video. Dominique and the FBI put pressure on Darlene, revealing the prison phone call Elliott made to Tyrell. Darlene stays over at Elliot's, but Mr. Robot emerges and scares her. Phillip Price has every necessary nation except China on board for Ecoin. When Price tries to threaten Zhang with the UN vote to let China annex the Congo, Zhang reveals his hold on Angela. Zhang wants Stage 2 to commence on the day of the vote whether they win or lose, to punish Price. Elliot lets Mr. Robot out during a therapy session where he tells Krista that he and Elliot were compromised. Lenny returns the sick dog. Elliot realizes Darlene bugged his computer and goes to Darlene's FBI safe house.

The quality of acting by rami for the two personalities is just fantastic and rewatching the show makes it clear. You can easily tell who he is in the moment.

@@kombuchamooch ya that’s what I always look for. Like in the scene where “Elliot” (the architect) is coming up with stage 1 while wearing the fsoc mask and Mr Robot jacket, but the second he starts talking about stage 2 his whole demeanor and intensity changes and his eyes widen all the way while he looks at Darlene, which is clearly Mr Robot. Then when he takes the mask off he just has this look of absolute confusion like “wtf just happened.”

I rescued a dog with canine colitis. Owner brought him in to be euthanized because of it. He was only seven at the time. Took him home and trained him to go on an adult bed pad in the kitchen if he had an accident. Only happens once or twice a month now because of an improved diet and it's always on the pad. He's a good boy, now with an extra eight years of life with me. Unfortunately, he passed away at fifteen a few months ago, but it was worth all the stinky mornings and clean ups.

The only girl who was honest with him was Shayla, and that's why I like her best from Darlene and Angela.
That’s not a fair comparison, Shayla was only in like 4 episodes and she wasn’t involved in the 5/9 hack, Whiterose, FBI, etc. And the only reason why Darlene lied to him was because she got a deal for them, they could’ve go to prison or something.
@Death Is A Doorway what I said was not my personal opinion. Both Darlene and Angela were for the majority of the series, involved in the main plot and still supported Elliot in whatever they could. That's why it seems unfair to compare their “honesty” to Shayla’s (I love her too tho)

That guy maybe a piece of work but, to his credit, at least he gave the dog to someone who looked like they wanted her and would take good care of her instead of just abandoning her in the streets.

Learn More About Cs You are maybe wondering why he didn’t install kali as a normie for hackers. The truth is linux mint is very lightweight and true hackers only install their own programs which makes kali very heavy because it has already unnecessary programs.
Imran Khan When they switch the default D.E to xfce from mate I was glad because I could at least use kali as a live USB pen test os. Back in the days were xfce were my minimum for live os pen testing they had the mate in default so it was a no for me. But the 2020 version just rocks bro.
...And it didn't occur to Elliot to check behind the monitor for a capture card? Pretty sure doing a fresh install of Kali is a bit overkill compared to a basic visual inspection of your hardware.
Why do I still find this part at minute 2.07 funny? I mean, come on. Elliot doesn't want his nuts emptied; he has bigger things to worry about.

She used an hardware exploit on Elliot's monitor. Its basically A Monitor Darkly OSD firmware exploit reimagined in Mr.Robot's universe.

@@OFICIALBestPlayer Probably. But I think the fbi agents are dumb if they bought such trick. Because Elliot is an experienced IT guy, and he has already suspected something. In that case he would've checked everything and there is no point for fbi to believe he would not check other things.
He could notice the extra hardware and understand that Darlene was working with the fbi, and that she could inform them about his behavior, that he suspected something and because of that he run the root checker to pretend he is checking something, but not the hardware. but again, the fbi would have already understood (if they weren't stupid) that they messed up and would not have been led to the phishing

Why would he check for a rootkit? Why didn’t he check the physical hardware or go wipe down mode again , he would change all his system parts meaning they can’t remotely view his pc.

True, but Eliott doesn’t necessarily know what Darlene did. While he claims to have seen Darelene behind the monitor, he can’t be sure she didn’t do other things while he was sleeping.
My theory for why he begins searching for a rootkit in his disk rather than looking for new hardware is so he can know for sure nothing else has been done.
In the episode following this, Eliott confronts Darlene and tells her that he “noticed some new hardware” that was “taking screenshots every 5 seconds and sending them [somewhere]” so we know he eventually spotted what she did.

What did he do at the end?
He executes in live mode the kali linux O.S. then he mount the linux mint system (O.S. That you see at the beginning) then with the rkhunter tool of kali linux he - - check for a rootkit in the mint system, but elliot doesn't recognize any rootkit, probably because darlyn did a good job (we understand that with the FBI agent words "good job")

Dalene installs a capture card to his monitor (all activity in his screen will be sent to FBI)

Later, he boots into Kali Linux to scan for rootkits (another way he could get hacked). Though, he KNOWS he didn't get hacked by throught a Rootkit, but using a hdmi screen capture.
He scans for rootkits in his PC to pretend he doesn't already know what happened. Obviously he doesn't find any rootkit on his computer.
The FBI agents conclude he believes he didn't get hacked.
Later he will use this to get these agents' location.
