met Steve at santa paula airport one day when i stopped there in my 210...we talked airplanes for a while ..then i told him we raced in the same class at Indian Dunes...the grin on his face could have lit up a city
Steve McQueen is by far my favorite actor, then comes Paul Neuman. Yea its probably because both guys were great drivers and car guys. I am so glad Steve found this wonderful woman to spend his last few years in total happiness.
My older cousin Grady Ragsdale was best friends with him & we would go to his ranch thats were i learned my love for cars & motorcycles! I got my first bike at 8 it was an HONDA XR 75 a big bike for a little girl but I was given the conference to ride it & I've been riding ever since!! He was a very kid and humble man never a bad word to say about anything it was a very sad day when he passed i went to the funeral my cousin Grady was a pallbearer for him he was a true "GENTLEMAN" in every sense of the word & a MAN'S MAN I could see how my cousin loved having him as a friend we all have that one person that will make a deep impact on are lives & Steve was it for my cousin Grady he wrote a book about there friendship & I still have it today & I share it with my friends who are MCQUEEN FAN'S! May they both "REST IN PEACE". 😇
I met both of these guys in 1980 at Paramount Pictures. Jay was looking for studio audience warm-up work on one of Paramount's sitcoms and walked into our production office. I had to tell him we already had someone. He had the most gorgeous blue eyes. I didn't actually meet McQueen but he was working on his last film, The Hunter. He rode past my office window on a bicycle to eat at the commissary across the way. He wore blue jeans and a plaid green and navy button down shirt, both tailored to perfectly fit his slim body. Yowza! So I didn't believe it when months later I heard he'd died. I said, "But I just saw him a little while ago and he looked perfectly healthy!"
Barbara is such a nice woman. She is still in love with Steve. I feel the pain, that he passed away, look at Barbara and you feel love, only love. Barbara if you read this. Greetings from Germany. I wish had a father like Steve. Love him, as a human, not movie star. Would proud to met him.
I think a lot of those guys are down to earth. I'm too young to have met Steve McQueen, but Paul Newman and James Garner were both super friendly and personable. And of course if you ran into Jay at the gas station driving a cool car, you'd never know he was this big TV guy, he's just a regular car guy talking passionately about his cars.
wow jay, you wouldnt let her get a word in edgewise. you ask her a question and expect a simple yes or no and cut her off every time. not to mention you hogged the microphone. i guess you forgot how important she was
Hey Jay, I was in your audience in the '90s and I can't believe how many toys you have in your collection - did you remember #HAPPYBIRTHDAY STEVE MCQUEEN - March 24, 1930 🎂 #KINGOFCOOL
I like your videos! And the cars you shoe are awesome! Maybe you can show something about 'On any sunday: The next chapter', and invite guys like roland sands or travis pastrana and show us there bikes or cars as well! Greats from Germany.
I've been a long time fan of the show, and think what Jay does is great, But I've wondered about something a long time, and have an Idea for a subject for a video, I would love to see a "behind the scenes" video, from you guys, like the logistics of the garage, how the cars are cleaned, stored, how many mechanics, is there a separate parts warehouse for the cars, ordering parts, what about the website maintence, film/photgraphy crew, is everything done in house or outsourced ie body work, Thnx!
she shared some very personal things in this book!? thanx barbara- too bad steve isnt alive - guess he and mr. leno would have some nice car talks or rides....;-)

@OriellHirsh Yeah he was a taking car.. From radiator springs.
Where does his wife fall into his efforts on LeMans? Before, during, after? I'd love to know if she has any photos of his 911S in the book.
Guess you'd have to buy the book
I always liked Steve McQueen I’m not sure why. Liked his car movies. I’m not sure Id have anything in common with him other then being human
I am the reincarnation of Steve McQueen... I was born the morning he died... No wonder I'm into cars so much...
