i am gonna sound sad, but i miss hee haw. it was the only place you got to see country music on when i was little. this has been one of my favorite songs for years.
You know, for all the "hick" comments that were lobbed at Hee Haw(network TV country music show, for those not in the know), that show did something most others didn't: LIVE MUSIC, no lip-synching crap.....John Anderson is one of the under-appreciated greats in country music. Thanks for posting this clip up!
The absolute greatest singer to ever step to a microphone is John Anderson. He is so underrated by the public at large. I love all his music and have almost every album of his.
That is one badass fiddle player lol, I wish real country artists like John Anderson got more play on todays radio.... country today is NOT true country...its more pop and rock music than anything.
I recently saw version of this song performed by Anderson, on a Hee Haw episode, with an ensemble of players. In it, the fiddle player looked like Mark O'Connor. It, too, was an impressive performance, by all of those involved, including the one I think was M. O'Connor. This is a great post. Thanks.
Wow, love this song. Brings back memories of my husband singing this after having too much homemade shine. He couldn't sing a note sober but after a few swigs he sounded awesome. But then I was sippin too.
WOW,,,,,,maybe these new fake country singers can listen to the voice of JOHN ANDERSON and learn what COUNTRY MUSIC IS!!! John is heart and soul COUNTRY MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great live performance! John and the band sure can make this song swing. The fiddler is awesome too. "They can just take you up yonder, honey. You're already Wild n Blue! "
This song is a prime example of so many things which make country music great. The fiddle and steel are great. The lyrics and John's voice bring the heartbreak of country blues to life. John owns this song, don't get me wrong, but I would have loved to hear Hank Sr. sing it, but then I love to hear Hank Sr. sing anything.
Ha! This is great. That fiddle player is jivin'. I really dig the harmony too, reminds me of church. John Anderson is great. My grandpa used to sing "Swingin'" to me when I was little.
Ole John is a class act. I don't know him personally, but I have two friends that do. They can speak nothing about him other than the fact that he is a simple good hearted kind man. Just a good ole boy.
John Anderson is one of my favorite country music and I love this wild & blue. He does an wonderful job of singing this song and there have been a lot of version of this song but John Anderson version is the best of them all.
Morley's fiddle is great as is Stuart Duncan, Vassar Clements, etc. but John's unique voice makes it for me. ... but, they're all just so enjoyable to listen to. You can bet 'Possum listened to a bunch of 'em before he checked out - Bless him.
i am gonna sound sad, but i miss hee haw. it was the only place you got to see country music on when i was little. this has been one of my favorite songs for years.
@John Anderson I’ve gotta support my fellow Floridians. My mama was from Eustis. I was raised in Jax. It’s amazing you saw my comment
Man, what a tune! Yessir! This is what Country Music is SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE!! Thank you for posting this!
Yes sir. In my opinion one of the most "country" country songs ever created.
John Anderson is a legend no contest... He's up there with all the great in country music no doubt.
That's for dang sure!
John Anderson is as country as a ear of corn! As good as country music gets.
1983 Letting it Rip!!!
My favorite country singer of all time. He lived in Apopka and has a 2 disc greatest hits album that's possibly my favorite ever.
County music I was raised to 💯👍

The young man on the fiddle knows country music and John Anderson doesn't get the accolades he deserves.

What happened to country music these days.
John is the REAL KING of country music, Not bad for a carpenter working on the roof of the new grand old opry when he was discovered. Awesome
Awesome stuff...never knew that...could you imagine hearing that voice before he was discovered...

The absolute greatest singer to ever step to a microphone is John Anderson. He is so underrated by the public at large. I love all his music and have almost every album of his.
I didn’t take him seriously between Swangin’ and Seminole Wind. I missed a lot.
Agreed. Awesome song.
Just make sure certain folks go back to work u know I could be so mean like outsiders
best country singer!! from my home town Apopka Florida !!!
That is one badass fiddle player lol, I wish real country artists like John Anderson got more play on todays radio.... country today is NOT true country...its more pop and rock music than anything.
Fiddler is Tom Morley (formerly of Fairhope, AL; now in Chattanooga)

Is there anything better than this???
Wow, love this song. Brings back memories of my husband singing this after having too much homemade shine. He couldn't sing a note sober but after a few swigs he sounded awesome. But then I was sippin too.

It is too bad that radio stations no longer plays this song any more.

Ha! This is great. That fiddle player is jivin'. I really dig the harmony too, reminds me of church. John Anderson is great. My grandpa used to sing "Swingin'" to me when I was little.
It is too bad that radio stations no longer play his music like this any more. If I were a radio station DJ, it could be such classics like this one.
I was 6 when he sang on this stage and the haunting lyrics and melody take me back to atleast 16
Love this man!!
i love, love, love this song. since i was 12 and i am 36. thanks so much for putting it.
Love this song. Will country ever get back to being country ? Rebel with a cause.
I think its gone for good my friend. At least in our lifetime. Sad days in country music.
Leah Duke
Yep bunch of pretty boys singing someone elses songs. Only one man could pull that off and he's left the building.
Jaime Johnson is making a go of it
He hawt AF🌹🌹🌹love him
I agree! He has always been my fantasy man.
Ole John is a class act. I don't know him personally, but I have two friends that do. They can speak nothing about him other than the fact that he is a simple good hearted kind man. Just a good ole boy.

Absolutely perfect.
His name's Tom Morley - he's currently playing with a traditional/Celtic
group called Mithril.
John Anderson is one of my favorite country music and I love this wild & blue. He does an wonderful job of singing this song and there have been a lot of version of this song but John Anderson version is the best of them all.

Wow i haven't heard this song in years!! Awesome:-)
I've always loved John Anderson's music ever since I got to met him when I six years old in Simthville, Tn.
That's our fiddle player, Tom Morley on that white fiddle...he was with John for about 5 years during that time.
I've got this on vinyl, which was handed down from my parents !
Love it!

Morley's fiddle is great as is Stuart Duncan, Vassar Clements, etc. but John's unique voice makes it for me. ... but, they're all just so enjoyable to listen to. You can bet 'Possum listened to a bunch of 'em before he checked out - Bless him.
