    If I remember correctly Mickey's mix magic is just supposed to be a projection show that on certain nights includes fireworks according to a Disney article I read before.

    I fully disagree, it is not the WORST show ever and infact its quite good. The show was made to celebrate mickeys birthday not to tell the story behind mickey. From day 1 they promised that they would make the show about a celebration not a storyline of magic. I do agree its not the most magical show but to the naked eye (being the normal guest) they have no clue about the other shows and how its magical, in fact everytime I go to the resort and watch the show I still see smiles, and dancing and happiness just as Steve Davinson wanted. You are seeing the show at the wrong perspective. The Lighting Design, projection mapping, laser integration is amazing and in fact, is in my top 3 favorite Disneyland Nighttime Spectaculars, leading being forever. Although I agree its not a magical and emotional show the theme of the show is a celebration, a party of Mickey not a crying storytale. I think your not viewing it from the right perspective, and as someone who goes behind the scenes and studies every technical element to the show, I consider this the 3rd best firework show disneyland has ever put on first being forever, second being together forever. Wishes is old, outdated, boring and just doesn't do a good job. Mix Magic has its moments like the new Mickey voice is quite horrible but besides that the entire show is absolutely insane as its just so great. I fully respect your opinion and see where your coming from but your not viewing it in the way it's intended to be viewed. Open your eyes a little bit and just celebrate.

      Also the fireworks aren't removed because Disney doesn't want too, it's due to Star Wars land opening and for safety purposes, JUST AS TOONTOWN the land would have to close every night and Disney would not do that to their billion dollar investment. it's not a choice it's a safety issue, also the projections are quite good they aren't great and I agree with you there but they definitely aren't lacking they do a great job at getting the scene across too you and for the magical standpoint they do great with that. Also those "Spotlights" are called moving fixtures, they cost about $5,000 each and over 65 are used in the show. The storyline regarding Mickey I fully agree with you on, but the show still does a great job, and the music is amazing. The DeeKompressors did a great job with, "Get your ears on" and I listen to it on a daily basis it's so catchy! The main theme song is great and I do fully disagree with your opinion on it.

    While the new animated Mickey isn't my favorite, the show was fun. Which is what you need after a long day at the park. The music is upbeat. It's not the most iconic thing but what the video didn't show was how much everyone was dancing and having a good time.

      Valid points ^
      I would just argue that a firework spectacular is expected at any castle park, it’s been a staple for decades, in every promotional video, and the best way to end your day. A dance party show, like this is fine, but make it a pre-show to the fireworks; then it wouldn’t be bad. But since Disney made this their main nighttime show, it has to get judged as one, and in our opinion it doesn’t live up to previous shows.

    I agree the musical score for this show is VERY lackluster with little to no Disney magic majestic music we are used to for their nighttime entertainment.

    I mean there are a lot of story elements that have been removed from the show. Like the whole point of the show is Mickey is trying to impress Minnie by showing off his talent. He realizes that music can fix anything so throws a dance party across the entire park. By the end of the snow Minnie is impressed and is all happy

  • @gregg5958
    @gregg5958 5 лет назад +13

    I admit it is more modern and not “classic” in music choice, but that is the point...it’s supposed to be like a remix dance party. You hate it because it’s different, I on the other hand like it for that exact same reason. I don’t however like their anemic weekend/non-existent weekday fireworks. That’s just wrong. Disneyland should always have fireworks in their night shows. This is kind of like a parade without the floats, and on that level, it just doesn’t work. The fireworks should NOT be merely an occasional background decor tacked on thing, they should be the centerpiece. At least they don’t have to worry about the entire show being scrapped due to wind, since they have scrapped it mostly already! But they need to rethink this show a bit.

    I completely agree. Not only did they neglect the Disney spirit which made Disney so beloved, but it was actually unpleasant to watch. Previous shows have moved me to tears and a tissue would have been handy. This time I could have used a pair of ear plugs. Alice will not be attending that tea party again.

    02:19 I think you are referring to Disney Remember.
    I have to disagree about the projections not being great. I watched the show without fireworks the other night and thought it was just as entertaining because of the projections and accompanying lasers. If you were to watch any of the other shows without fireworks I don’t feel it would be as entertaining as this one was. I also think this show also has more custom art than any other of the shows. But definitely I agree with some of your other points

    Dude... it’s a freaking show. The show isn’t supposed to be an emotional show. The description Disney gave out even says it’s a party themed show. When they described Happily Ever After, they said how it would be. The techno theme is a party theme. This show was good and unique. Even though it’s a different theme sometimes less is more and some things can be different. Get the idea off of your mind that all Disney fireworks have to have the same formula of songs. But I can’t change your opinion I’m just sharing my thoughts.

    You know why the fireworks are small and not on the weekdays right??????
    It’s because of Star Wars Land (Galaxy’s Edge). The fireworks are soo close to the new land they are experimenting with more light show and less firework show. If they can bank on the Star Wars fan base they will pump all the resources into SWL.

    On paper (and on RUclips) Pixar’s Together Forever should have been superior to Mix Magic but it fell flat. What’s nice about Mix Magic is that it can still run without fireworks so if a little wind is in upper elevations not so many people leave totally disappointed. Mix Magic is fun and the remixes are danceable. This fits the AP demo at DLR well.

      You sir are correct, very danceable for APs

    • @a-a-ron13
      @a-a-ron13 5 лет назад

      Mickey's Mix Magic is better than Together Forever in my opinion. Together Forever had choppy transitions that rival those of Soarin' Around the World and many of the transitions were illogical. Also, it was hardly sing-alongable and had WAY too much dialog. It seriously seemed like they cut and paste most of the show together at the last minute and got away with it by having cool fireworks and by pasting everyone's favorite characters all over Main Street. Not a very good show. It was also very unoriginal. There was no new story or emotional engagement throughout it. It just kind of brought back emotions from the movies.
      Mickey's Mix Magic may not be as emotional, but it is original in that it is not cut and paste, and it is definitely sing-alongable and most definitely danceable-especially for the APs, as Ethan stated. I think it's a lot more fun than Together Forever, and I do appreciate that it is able to run every night since it is not so tightly coupled to the fireworks. Yes, they only do the fireworks on the weekends, but that's nothing new. What is new is that they have some sort of nighttime spectacular every night, which is awesome!

    they went in totally the wrong direction. when I think the fireworks at the end of the night its iconic, its emotional, its magical. This remixed techno colourbomb is not what I think of. When I first went to disneyland I cried at the fireworks because it felt like the adverts it was a dream come true and emotional, this would not garner the same response its got totally the wrong feel to it.

    • @Carliv_Sot
      @Carliv_Sot 5 лет назад

      Yeah, that’s the whole thing about fireworks in Disney.
      I cried too the first time I saw them, (it was a long time ago) I’ve been in Disneyland like 10 times (can’t remember exactly how many) and I’ve always enjoyed their fireworks.
      As you said it’s emotional, magical and mostly iconic. However, even though I like those shows to be “classical” I understand the concept of this one and I believe it’s good (is more like a show that try’s to make you smile instead of make you tear from nostalgia).
      For me the only issue it’s that the music seems off because (as the video said) none of it have something to do with Mickey, but I guess they did it that way because a show that long would need different visuals ( if you can recall most Disney fireworks try to put as many scenes from different movies to change and explore different moods in music, phase, fireworks and now projections, otherwise the show would be very “flat” and repetitive in content) but, again they didn’t choose carefully or maybe the way songs are remixed just isn’t that good.
      Because there’s no explicit backstory rather than Mickey supposedly mixing tracks as he is the DJ, there’s no explanation why we are changing visuals and music.
      I noticed they relay more on lights and lasers this time to play with the music, and fireworks become a secondary feature, maybe that’s why the official Disney site doesn’t even uses the word fireworks to describe the show. I believe this is intentional.
      For me, this shows with lesser fireworks started at Disneyland Paris as they had issues with their neighbors complaining about smoke and noise, Disney resolved it with “Disney Dreams” a show with projections, lasers, fountains and only small (but plenty) fireworks thrown from inside the park and through the years and parks they slowly implemented this type of shows to the point we are now.
      Mickey Mix Magic it’s not promoted as a fireworks show, and as that it’s a relatively pretty good show. The thing here is that we want our fireworks back because they bring us that sense of wonder, magic and give us the kiss goodnight to leave the park.
      I think Disney is in pressure by the city of Anaheim because of ecological reasons (it had happened before), and maybe we are the ones that have to “let it go” because if that’s the case, ecology it’s more important than our selfish wish to feel nostalgia again 😞. Yeah... it’s sad.
      Sorry for the long post, the variety of topic, the high probability of grammar mistakes and the upset feel this answer could bring you. 😳🙈

      That's not a problem, since Disneyland first got us neighbors around. and if they were going to live there the fireworks is from 1956! What happens is that it is low season and most rides are closed for restoration and Mickey's Mix Magic is like replacing Fantasy in the sky only this time with more effects! and to provide a satisfying night they had to add a show like that and on weekends it's when there are more people and that's where the fireworks add greetings!

    I agree with almost everything you said, in a review for the show that I wrote I said that Disney is known for their amazing story telling abilities, they even managed to tell a story as you are on a roller coaster (Incredicoaster), and the biggest issue with this show is its lack of story. It’s a good show just not what I would expect to come out of Disney. There’s no emotional connection. I do prefer Mickey’s Mix Magic to Fantasy in the Sky though and that is normally what they run at this time of year. However according to Disney this show will run for the majority of the year, with Sleeping Beauty Castle viewing location opening in the spring and the Rivers of America viewing location to open in March, it looks like this show is here to stay through the summer. I am glad that they are still running the show even without fireworks now. It’s the worst thing when you go to the parks with someone who has never been, talking up the fireworks all day/ before the trip and then hearing that due to winds at higher elevations they aren’t going to run any show. Now that person is let down and you just wasted an hour saving a good viewing location. I personally thought both Together Forever and Disneyland Forever were entertaining enough with the projections and lights to run even if you couldn’t have the fireworks. In the end Walt Disney said “Disneyland will never be complete” and sometimes even Disney has to fail a few times before they get it right (California Adventure). At least they keep making new shows and trying new things. One of the reasons I personally prefer Disneyland to Walt Disney World is that they keep making new shows on a regular basis using more innovative technology every time. Unlike in Florida where Wishes ran for 14 years. I hope this is not their “go-to” show for the next several years to come but as long as the “Get Your Ears On” Celebration is happening I can understand them running this show. It’s better than no show! I can’t wait to see what they do next with what they have learned from this show!

    I disagree with the fact that you said no emotional connection to the show. Look, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but hear me out every show that Disney does doesn’t have to always have an emotional connection to it. For example this show Mickey’s Mix Magic is meant to be a celebratory show celebrating the birthday of Mickey not no typical show like HEA and Wishes that involves a Choir singing. If this show involved that in the entire show that would actually make it the worse show Disney has ever come up with but this show involves festive music in it making it enjoyable for many people out there so I don’t know what you’re complaining about you’re basically hating on this show for invalid reasons stated in this video so you need to be grateful and stop complaining

  • @alexsierra3403

    As some one who loves Disney let me point out a few things! The show is amazing, the use of technology that is used for this show is at a new level . Walt always said that “Animation offers a medium of story telling and visual entertainment which can bring pleasure and information to people of all ages everywhere in the world.” So with that said this show may not speak to your imagination but for people who love dance music, light, projections and fireworks it speaks to us. The reason why the show doesn’t use a lot of fireworks any more is do to the projections on Main Street. Disneyland is changing and coming in to an age of advanced technology and Walt would be so proud of how his dream lives on So if you can adapt to change and the magic of Disney I would say it’s time to hang your mouse ears and welcome a new them park to your heart.

      Totally understandable, and we respect your opinion and your taste in music/shows/animation, but in our view this was Disney just taking the cheap way out. By not doing fireworks every night saves Disney money; the projections on Main Street were featured in other spectaculars and fireworks were never cut from those shows. Disney just announced that Disneyland Forever is returning in a few weeks... with fireworks, this show was just a cheap filler while Disney could save a little money

    I honestly believe there is absolutely nothing wrong with this show. For once, Disney actually got to celebrate Mickey and Minnie's birthday. Just think, without them, Disney entertainment wouldn't exist. And you know how Let it Go has been the most overrated and hated song in the year of its release, in the remixed version in Mickey's Mix Magic, more people say they actually enjoy it not only here but in World of Color Winter Dreams. And what's the point of overusing pyrotechnics when most of the attention goes to the projections? Disney has actually put good time and effort into this show. Bravo Disney for paying tribute to Mickey!
    I only hope that we never lose sight on one thing - that it was all started by a mouse.

      100%, so true, but that's why Disney is held to higher standers than other parks. Disney knows what they're capable of, they also know that some people or fans will praise whatever they put out, we're just trying to be objective when we think they can do better.

    Don't mix "fact" with "opinion" or "apples" with "oranges". Just because it didn't meet your expectations or it wasn't what you thought it was going to be, doesn't mean the show was bad or terrible. I have yet to see a bad fireworks show at ANY DisneyPark and I've seen probably all of them on youtube. Everyone can have their opinions about anything but don't confuse them for fact. Yes it could have used more Mickey themes but it still was a great show and it was very entertaining. I think mickey mix magic was a celebration of Disney as a whole not just Mickey by himself. Like what Walt said "It all started with a mouse." Mickey was shown but the show wasn't about him, more like he represented as start of all things Disney. Anyway that what I think. Overall, the fireworks were amazing, they're always amazing.

      Not really. Disney fireworks are supposed to cap off your day. And Disneyland considering how much a classic it is, it shouldn't be a disco dance party. It should be memorable moment before you leave. I don't wanna go out of the parks for practically the last time in my life dancing to some mediocre Disney remixes. Something like Remember Dreams come true or Disneyland forever is more reasonable or even Wishes or Happily Ever After.

    • @mickeymouseclub333
      @mickeymouseclub333 3 года назад

      @@cancelled148 Um...all Disney fireworks are "Dance Parties". Some are more suddle than others but, it just depends on what songs you like over some others. I mean Disney After Dark: Disneyafteroon all 90s all night, Halloween, Christmas, 4th of July, Disneyland Forever, just to name a few, were literally dance parties as everyone danced to music from the their favorite movies and tv shows. And they were all remixed in some way, shape or form. Don't even tell me that the Happily Ever After and Remember Dreams Come True were not dance parties either but then I guess the best fireworks shows are the ones where you just stand there like a statue I guess, what fun. The fireworks were at the end of the day, true, but not as a "Goodbye" but as a "See Ya Real Soon" or "Hope to see you again." After the fireworks shows you would leave wanting to come back the next day. But again it's whatever you're into when it comes to entertainment of any form and personal experience.

      @@mickeymouseclub333 This is actually the most retarded comment ive ever seen. Its actually hilarious bruh.
      wdym all disney fireworks shows are dance parties? I have never seen a disney firework show with people dancing like its a disco party. hopping, slight dancing, singing, sure. But everyone ive seen who has watched happily ever after has either teared up or just stayed there standing mesmorized By the show. Noone is dancing like an idiot cuz they hear friend like me or let it go. Sure, this show and 90S night were exceptions but for the most part even in the 90s show i only heard singing and saw people standing normally for 80% of the show. I have ppl tear up at the shows especially illuminations, that show is a tear jerker. 98% of disney firework shows are not dance parties. Thats a bullshit of an argument and i know you pulled that one out of your ass. And if you still think they are? thats your opinion, not a fact ❤

      @@cancelled148 So my opinion is dumb and I pulled it out of my ass? Nice to know there are just some people who can recognize an opinion and still be an asshole over it. It's just what I think and what I experienced and observe when I watch the fireworks from RUclips's perspective. There was no need for the insults but I guess it's nice to know dicks like you find insulting people like this just to prove you're right for an opinion is amusing. If that makes you feel better than that's just sad. It's not that serious.

    I agree with you, this show is awful. Fireworks aren't synchronized with the music, the show has little to do with Mickey, it has no emotional connection(maybe as a street party only would be ok, but as a fireworks show is lame and also short). Even Magical, that didn't had a storyline/narration flowed much better and had a beautiful score. With all that being said, if they wanted to go cheaper than other fireworks shows, they could have just brought back Believe There's Magic in The Stars, given that the show didn't rely on hub pyro, and would have been a lot better, come on even Disney's Imagine (2004) was better as a temporary replacement than Mickey's Mix Magic.

  • @josephgonzalez3081
    @josephgonzalez3081 5 лет назад

    Idk what you mean. Mickey's mix magic was great. Disneyland needed a night time show that had like a party theme to it and make people feel good and happy and make them dance and let lose. Plus this was better then Pixars together forever fireworks.
