As a fan from the very beginning in the 60’s, I am so happy to hear the second, maybe third generation fan like you talking so highly of The Rolling Stones. They were my childhood idols and you don’t find them too old or too out of time. Thank you for the great review. I only went to one concert so it’s very interesting to know about other performances.

I can’t agree more on Jumping Jack Flash. When Keith hit that opening riff it literally made the entire stadium feel like it was being electrocuted. That doesn’t even make sense but it was the best way I could describe it.

Fun tour and I’m always soooo grateful for every Stones tour, song, album, guest appearance, interview, etc., especially at this stage of their career. It’d make my top 10 in tours, but even if it was my 10th best, that would still place it better than 90% of all other live shows I’ve seen from other bands 😉 👅

Justin, thanks for all your posts during the tour, truly enjoy your channel and your insights (and those of your guests when you have them).
I loved the show I saw in Vancouver, incredible energy throughout. I agree with your analysis of Steve Jordan. He was a major contributor. Chanel Haynes was also great. Mick was what we always expect from him, the greatest front man ever. Most of all, It's Keith who looks yournger and re-energized. He's the one who always claimed in interviews to take this band as far as it can go, and it seems he's determined to not be the reason they'd have to call it quits. He's obviously made lifestyle changes for the sake of the band, so he's true to his word, and it showed in his performances and his energy level. Ronnie was great as well. In 2022, I thought Ronnie looked a little tired compared to previous tours. He did his job adequately, but the energy level wasn't quite as high as previous tours. It was understandable given his illness and surgery in 2017-18, and the shock of the loss of Charlie was still being felt by everyone, I am certain. So now, in 2024, with Keith and Ronnie obviously committed to pushing ahead, the Stones could go on for a while still. Mick had also said at the launch of "Hackney Diamonds" that they had some other new songs in the tank (2/3 or 3/4 of an album if I remember). I don't expect a new album this year, but maybe next year.
I'd also like to mention Daryl Jones, loved his bass and how all his notes just add to the songs without overdoing it, kind of like what Steve is doing on the drums. Chuck Leavell, too, is an absolute master, guiding the band through the setlist. Hats off to him. Same with Bernard and his great back-up vocals, and, finally, the tremendous horn section seamlessly adding to the overall performance.
It's incredible how the Rolling Stones keep sounding exactly as we would want them to sound, Yes, of course, it's the common thread of the Glimmer Twins, unquestioned. No Glimmers, no Stones, period. But it's all these extra musicians who play within the soundscape of what defines the Rolling Stones as a band, and keep the dream alive.
    Thanks again, Justin.

What!! No show filmed? That is something new for the Stones. They (as far as I know) usually film every concert they play. That's a shame if they didn't film all these fantastic shows from this tour!
By the way. I haven't been listening to Hackney Diamonds for a few weeks back. But the other day I did and I must tell you I was blown away yet again by the Stones on this album. Listening to all songs without skipping any of them out. My heart beating fast on the first songs before the soothing Depending on you did cool me down a bit before the uptempo groovers is on again and then Dreamy skies just as soothing as DOY. My favourite song for the moment is Driving me too hard. Gosh what an album. It's really up there competing for the no 1 spot of best Stones albums ever. Thanks once again to Justin for a fantastic cover of this tour. You're doing agreat job!

It’s a joy to see how The Stones have matured over the years as a live band.
They seem more confident and relaxed on the scene. They totally know what works and what isn’t worth bothering with.
Some would say that they’re not quite as sharp in certain areas as once, and that might be true too.
But this is not some sports competition. I like this grown up (-old) version of the band...

I would say that this is the tour that defied expectation. I went to the first show here in Houston, expecting to be disappointed, but they were much better than I hoped, they looked like they were having fun, the crowd was enjoying it; how could I doubt the Stones? Today is about 5 years since I first saw the Stones live, they played in Houston, almost exactly five years ago, I think that it was July 27, 2019. I couldn't afford a ticket for Steel Wheels, I might have hung around outside Three Rivers Stadium for bit. I did see the X Pensive Winos in 1993, which was great to see them in a small theater rather than a stadium. The Stones might be the best tour of this year, but does it compare to past Stones tours, such as the 1972 STP, or the tour that is captured on the live album at El Mocambo, or even Steel Wheels? I like Hackney Diamonds more and more, and I agree with this video that Jumpin' Jack Flash has been a highlight on this tour, the guitars sounded rough and like a young band just getting out of their garage, in a good way.

Yup. 1997-98? Yup. 2002-03? Yup. And so on - the show at the Fonda Theatre in 2015? Yup. The only tour I am a little critical of is probably the 1994-95 Voodoo Lounge tour, but it's a bit hard to pinpoint quite why. Anyway, point made - what wasn't a great Stones tour?

I was in NYC these past ten days and didn’t miss the occasion to buy the Bill German’s book. Coming back to France now, and hoping to see my favourite band next year in Paris. Great recap Justin, and yes, the Stones continue to deliver! It really is a marvel that they remain so good live...I saw them at the second Chicago show, and it was fantastic--though too short for me, as usual! As for Hackney Diamonds, I do wish they would feature more from the album in the live sets--really I only expected three songs at most, since they seem to tailor the sets too heavily on standards. Four songs off the latest album may be as good as they are inclined to do anymore, though I though Get Close and Depending on You would have been natural for inclusion, and would have sounded great in those contexts. Even thinking back to Bigger Bang...that was a LONG album (CD, really) at 16 tracks--and they really only played three songs during those shows, maybe four a couple of times. I don't think they give their newer music enough attention--and in turn, the fan base that goes to these shows are likely not buying or downloading the album--if they were, that album would be sneaking back into the Billboard 200, as opposed to Hot Rocks, once again, doing so.
Looking at your song breakdown, it looks like 10 songs were performed at EVERY show (and that included Angry), and I recall Mick saying many years ago that their sets had to include about 12 "must do's"...I think Midnight Rambler and Miss You needed to be among that 12. The show I was at, they did Miss You in that newer, extended 'jam'-like arrangement--and I thought it was among the best versions I've heard!!
Thanks again for all of your great work on the Stones!

Would Ronnie be a trigger to end the Stones or would they keep going as the Stones? Yes they look great but all the drinking and drugs have to created some damage. Just being sober now doesn't undo the decades of alcoholism. The damage is done. Kidneys? Ronnie and Keith probably have liver and kidney damage. I already have too many..lol. But I'd love a live CD of the deep cuts that were played once or twice. I'd say Wild Horses was an incredible version and they can throw in Get off Of my Cloud which can use another good live official release. We already have four Hackney live tracks on Racket live release. But yea, throw on Monkey Man, Heartbreaker, She's A Rainbow, Out Of TIme!!!!!, Emotional Rescue, Far Away Eyes, Sweet Virginia and the version of Time Is On My Side and there's a winning live CD.

His terrible arthritis is hurting him. Plus Jagger used to be sooooo much cooler. I did love the 2015 show I saw but the Stones used to be a totally different band back in the day.
