You all realize that if that one ship hadn't been in the way, the captain of that larger boat would have gone straight into the dockside. Either way, somebody has some explaining to do.

Wow: historic footage from the glorious victory of the Bulgarian fleet over the Spanish Armada in Texel harbour in 1588. The heavy Spanish galleons were outmaneuvered by the more modern Bulgarian Schoonerbarks.
Weer zo'n Oost Europeaan die teveel gezopen heeft. Maar zo ruimen die oude barrels elkaar mooi op.

They didn't drop the anchor. Some debris fell from the netting below the bowsprit.

For anyone curious about the Story behind this Incident.
I Visited this Spanish Carrack the Nao Victoria today and was told about the story of this crash by one of the crew. And Aparently the entrance to the port of Texel in Den Helder netherlands has a very narrow and tight turn into the harbour. And Apparently the Bulgarian ship mistakenly entered way too fast to take the turn and ended up crashing , it was an honest mistake and the bulgarian crew was very embarassed by this 😂
Hopefully the beautiful black one was not to badly damaged.

ok, ships entering harbor are supposed to be piloted by the harbor pilot?
Not all ships are subjected to that measure. It's from a certain size, and the size threshold depends from one harbour to another.
The harbour pilot pilots. He does not command, he does not steer. He just speaks.

only a pilot with intimate knowledge of the waters of the port could have possibly avoided this collision
