- Shiitake mushroom logs galore at Green Pastures Farm. Our recent silvopasture development project is paying huge dividends in yielding logs for our cultivation of mushrooms. We will be injecting spawn into our oak logs for future production of mushrooms. For more grazing info check out my new book " How To Think Like A Grazier" on our website: greenpasturesfarm.net/books/
If you have a video about the harvesting/marketing process, would love to see it. You've mentioned it here and there, but a thousand log harvest sounds like a lot of work!
Nothing wrong with a bit of work, keeps your body healthy!!
Love it. This is great for people coming to new property and want to know what to do with clearing it out.
3 above with the sun shining! Nicest day in almost a week. That is a big old pile of logs, there will be all you can eat mushrooms. Have a wonderful day.
There I some amazing research out there about sun dried mushrooms and vitamin D. Very interesting.
Greg can you show how the mushrooms are doing in a video this spring?
How nice of Greg to lay out bonfire piles for us visitors!
No :)

You and a homesteader I watch has made Missouri my #1 spot I'd like to set up my homestead. Canada is far too cold for me.
Great insight on mushrooms you R A Funguy to watch
Omgoodnes that would be great firewood
Very educational, thank you for sharing Greg.
Not sure if it's out already but I look forward to seeing the video of the whole process as you guys do it.
Something I look forward to doing myself one day. Guessing the log location is pretty essential though too and in Australia, we get pretty hot so I'll find a cooler, more moist place on the property.
Thanks again.
Duncan.
Nice Greg!!!
Would like to watch the process!

Up to 180’ - 240’ tall and 200 - 400 yrs old.
We love seeing the mushrooms! My son inoculated 9 logs last year, inspired by you! I'll email you some pictures sometime!
Love to see them sometime!
Please show us how you go about harvesting those mushrooms. How do they survive in a marketable form in those stacks of logs?
Greg have you did a video on how you marketed the cattle and sheep when you were just beginning and did not have a large RUclips channel to market to?
cool!
Greg, can you keep us updated on this project. Very interesting
I read and lot about shitake mushroom farming but there's very little good information about how to market them. To make the time and money invested worthwhile, you have sell them. How do you sell yours Greg?
Thanks again for all your videos! That looks like a lot of fun! I love to learn and work at the same time. Those size of logs is the perfect size for my fireplace. It is a catch 22 for me if I did that size but I think I could spare of few logs though.
Have you had any logs dry out and could you talk about keeping them from drying out in your next shiitake video?
Watched a video that showed them soaking the logs in water before inoculating. Looks like you don't bother with that? How long do you rest the logs from being cut to being inoculated?
What type of logs did he use?
What do you think about the plugs you hammer in and cover with wax?
They work, but are more expensive than bagged spawn.
@@gregjudyregenerativerancher thank you
Where do u sell the mushrooms? Thx
update?
Would these grow on north side of house with no sunshine ?
Possibly, never tried it. We keep them under the trees.
👍💵
Maybe you could harvest the woodpeckers I know someone has ate them and he thinks they taste like doves, wink wink maybe Issac, connor and David could try that just saying!!!
Why only shiitaki? Have you tried other mushroom varieties?
We have tried oysters, Lions Mane, but settled on Shiitaki.
🤓✌👌👍🖖😎
When the mushrooms start to grow they will push out those neoprene plugs and blow all over your property.
zomvie spores dont eat
