I wanted to get the K1 Pro but not having shine through keys is definitely a deal breaker for me. The K1 Pro ISO version has south facing LEDs with shine through keys, but I prefer staying with ANSI.
how come you didn't get he uk layout? or arent you based here? also have you considered a different key cap set for the pro, so the legends shine through. I'm assuming the leds are north facing and will actually shine upwards.
It wasn't in stock at the time that I bought it and like you said I can always swap the keycaps out later. Yeah it's north facing and does shine upwards
Great comparison. Can I use "normal-hight-switches" on the K1-Pro, or is the "base" only compatible with low-profile-switches? I am thinking about buying the Akko Fairy Silent Switches to reduce the noise for office work.
This was a great summary, thanks very much. I am interested in the K1 Pro, until you mentioned there is no shine through of the keys. Can you recommend a similar keyboard that has more shine through?
Great review and comparison but, man, you are dashing, I actually had to use that slower playback function for the first time on youtube :-D. Thanks from Ukraine. God Save the King and Слава Україні!
I have Keychron K1 (v4) and tbh the stock typing sounds are quite noisy (the stabs and the dry-scratch sounds when the switches bottom-ed in). But you can partially lube it (the stems that make friction with housing) and then you can get better-rounded sound (a bit similar to Nuphy).
How about K1se VS K1 Pro , bluethooth connect status If after 10 min, bluethooth in sleep, K1SE need 3 ~ 5 secs then could connect K1 PRO whether has made more fast and first inputted 5 character could be shown normally ?
The connect status between the 2 keyboards using Bluetooth is basically the same. You still get that slight delay with the Pro which is a bit annoying!
I'd argue that USB-C is more useful but the best compromise solution would to be include both or an adapter. NuPhy do this with their keyboards: ruclips.net/video/6HE1drzdSf8/видео.html
I have both the K1 and the K1 Pro, and I don't quite understand why Keychron chose that inferior construction for the so-called "Pro". The body of that version has noticeable flex while typing, which gets annoying real quick. Sure, it has some cool capabilities with the VIA stuff. But ultimately it's about the typing experience, and for that the K1 with its full aluminium body is the clear winner.
Yeah I do wish the Pro had the aluminium case, and it’s is weird that the more expensive keyboard is made with cheaper materials. There is one thing that I can’t get over with the K1 though is the fact that it’s feet aren’t adjustable, it sounds trivial, but it really annoys me when I’m typing and the keyboards not at an angle
@@colinkilday What I would like is that the port to be off centre, between the G and the H. For me personally the feet are not an issue since I never use those. 🙂
I suspect that the reason is that it was easier to add the adjustable feet if the bottom was plastic and they decided that, if they had to choose, adjustable feet was a better selling point than a full aluminum body.
@@Osprey850 Hmmmm .... you could be on to something. Maybe production cost would've been past a certain threshold if they had opted for adjustable feet on an aluminum body.
My understanding is that an aluminum base results in a sharper feel and sound when bottoming out, whereas a plastic base gives a more thumpy and thocky sound. For that reason many prefer a plastic base.
The main thing about the Pro that wins it for me was the VIA customisation. If it wasn’t for that I’d say that I prefer the K1 SE, I’d also argue the K1 SE is better value for money
Great comparison! Thank you for it! And best wishes from Poland :)
Thanks!!
Thank you!
Glad you found it useful!
Does the Keychron K1 not work with the Keychron Launcher?
Thank you! You really help me to decide
Thanks! Glad I could help!
Thanks for the comparison.
i see your screen at use with cable and all my questions for OS are done 😅, thanks so much for the video 👍
I’m glad you found the video useful!
@@colinkilday really helpful it get my next keyboard at the time my coolermaster sk630 lp tkl is 100% dead :D

Thanks for putting this together, Colin! Great video! Subbed! :)
Thanks for the feedback and for subscribing!

It's only compatible with low profile switches unfortunately. You should have a look at some of keychain's full mechanical keyboards:amzn.to/3VVwGy3

Thanks, I’m glad you like the video! One option would be to swap out the keycaps on the keyboard to increase the shine through

I have the K3 and sticking with it because oif the UK ISO layout i use with Windows. However, if i wanted one soley for my Mac these are great options
I do really like the K3 and it's a keyboard I did look at before I bought the K1

@@colinkilday Thanks for your information. Hope 2024 , K1se v2 or K1 pro v2 could resolve this issue

I have k5 and k1 pro, and tactilely and visually I like k5 more, so for me personally the pro version was a disappointment
