- The Three Degrees is an American female vocal group, which was originally formed in 1965 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The original members were Fayette Pinkney, Shirley Porter and Linda Turner. Porter and Turner were soon replaced by Janet Harmon and Helen Scott. The line-up from 1967 to 1976 was Pinkney, Valerie Holiday and Sheila Ferguson, who would go on to sing lead on most of the group's biggest hits.

The concept is so simple that many of today´s composers and singers have forgotten it. Create music that elevate the soul and make people feel good. That´s what we had in the 70s and 80s and is lost nowadays....
"Elevates the soul?" That's not the part this elevates... The lyrics are appalling. Dishonest relationships, woman begging for the occasional crumbs of affection... Fine singer, yes, but it's not Gloria Gaynor.

Fay is not in this line up, she "left" in 1976, and Helen (on Sheila's right) came back in August 1976, after having been there in the early days 1963-1966.
