I bought a McGill Super Ace a few years ago and still thrilled with the sound. I'm also a big fan of yours, great to hear your new tone!! Keep the cool arrangements coming!
Thank you, Gary!
i like so much your gently stile how you play guitar which, in my opinion, shows profound human sense and humility👍thank you Walter
That is a warm and natural-sounding rig. Thanks for sharing your experience with it, Walter.
Unbelievable! Great rich sound with incredible bass frequencies as well as You're a great guitarist
No doubt, this is a great acoustic pickup system. But Walter's superb musicianship is what carries the day!
Sounds very natural Walter, very nice! Thank you for posting this info!!
Excellent playing, I love the sound of nylon strings. I have been playing for years but no guitar lessons, so everything I have learned is through videos, books, and trying my best .... Making lots of mistakes, but learning from videos like yours, thanks for your videos. Blessings
Elegant guitar lines, BEAUTIFUL tone!🙂
Beautiful playing!
I play an aggressive style of Spanish guitar fusion. I use a Godin. When my pick ups failed I heard about Paul and his pick ups. I ordered some and was pleasantly surprised. The one thing I love about them that the original Godin pick ups didn’t have is dynamics. I can play them soft and I can pick them hard and they respond accordingly. But most of all I like it when I do dig in with my pick to play my solos the pickups respond beautifully. The strings with the original Godin pick ups used to always pop out of their saddles because they could not handle the aggressiveness of my playing. That has not happened once with Paul’s pick ups.
Great playing and a great sounding pickup system!
Magnificent! Thanks for the info.
Amazing playing!!!
Very nice - going to keep this in mind when I purchase a nylon string guitar.
Congrats for the vídeo!
Beautiful line ❤️❤️
Yes sounds good. I'm also loving my K and K Pure Classic with a Trinity Pro preamp. Sounds great even without the added mic.
I am glad you like your K&K.
We sent out to make the acoustic guitar a stage instrument that can compete with bass, horns, drums, keyboards, at high vol.
Because my guitars are known for this purpose I had to find answers.
I could not rely on the old concepts to achieve what I needed.
I am afraid that it was a waste of my efforts and time that I just did not put a Baggs or Fishman in my guitars and tell my performers that is as good as it gets.
But the fact its, under saddle or contact pickups would be over whelmed on a loud stage.
This is a label of engineering I hope you experience some day.
Great demo Walter. I have a Go Acoustic system in one of my guitars and can't speak highly enough about it. Of course, Paul is also viewed by many (including me) as a genius level luthier.
Thanks, John

Awesome! I think they really nailed it. Fantastic system!
Great stuff!
SO Nice show to us. Thanks
Man, you sound great!
If I could play like you, all I would do is eat, sleep, and play.
If you eat, sleep, and play, eventually you'll play like him 😅
Maravilhoso meu amigo. Estou quase terminando seu arranjo de how deep do Bee Gees. Pretendo tocar todos seus arranjos. Parabéns pelo seu trabalho Deus te abençoe sempre abraços
Obrigado Taylor!
I bought a barely used Cordoba A/E Fusion 12 Orchestra with padded case and did nothing at all but get better tuners. The guitar was free of marks or chips and is a very nice classical guitar. If you never went past intermediate level classical pieces (like me), it is plenty of guitar !
You play so nice.🎶
I have one myself and love it!
Awesome! Best system I've used so far hands down.
Well done Walter! I had too laugh at the LR Baggs add before watching your video. I have been using Go Acoustic Audio for almost four years now.
Hey David! Haha that’s funny 😄 Thanks for introducing me to the go acoustic system, couldn’t be happier!
I have a Nylon Super Ace by Paul McGill, beautiful dream guitar and extraordinary luthier!!!!!!!
Muy bonita Guitarra maestro 👍🏻👍🏻
sadhu sadhu sadhu rejoice .......excellent and ending !!!
Thanks for sharing
Eres un durooo me gusta esa harmonía quisiera aprender esa forma de tocar . Abrazos❤️👍
The system looks interesting. This player could make anything sound fantastic.
I am using cordoba c4 ce with no battery fishman pickup and it sounds great!
Nice presentation! I have been using this system for some years now and audiences are thrilled with the tone. Guitar is the Super Ace. Your touch does even more.
Fantastic! Thanks for your comment.
Ben Shaw is the engineer of the pickup system. He works closely with Paul in Nashville. 👍🏻
Hi Steve, thanks from bringing that up. I unintentionally forgot to mention his name on the review, my bad! I’ve added the info to the video description 👍🏻
thank you
Thank you... Gracias...
Nice intro. I especially like the Fma7 to Dm/F movement.
Pat Metheny uses a Go Acoustic Audio system product on at least one of his guitars.
Yes, we installed 3 systems for Metheny last fall for his solo tour.
@@conecaster I have an Olson built in 1994. After some recent repair work was finally completed on it I decided to lose the original Baggs piezo (always problematic) and the AKG condenser that was kind of attached by velcro and install a new system. I am a HUGE PM fan and always very impressed with the sound of his amplified acoustics so I am very interested in what he chose. I want to create what I call a hyper-guitar with lots of pickup options: natural (95% if what I do), percussive (just for the option), sustaining for a super rich tone where just one note sings. I should give you guys a call.
Dude..I love your vids and consider you an expert opinion. I have dubbed you the "Professional".
This is the first time I have your voice I do not think I have ever seen your thumb on your chord hand.
Great video and great playing as always, I have a electric nylon string guitar with a LB6 pickup and if I mildly press index finger on low e,a,d string and move finger up or down (not playing and not over another fret) I get a mid range knock like sound, do you have any suggestions. Thanks, does this happen to you with this new system, please try and let me know.
Walter, Walter, Walter! I have so much enjoyed your videos, beautiful playing, humble demeanor and more. Please tell me what pedal you use to get your BASS sound from your nylon string - I have been on the hunt for some time now with no luck. Blessings on your music!
Thank you! You must be referring to the bass sound on my Godin… that’s a circuit board installed on the guitar called PolyBass, it works with RMC pickups.
I have both a Cordoba (my guitar instructor had one) and the Godin. I notice you have both at the perfect angle to play chords with much better ease on both guitars. What type of support attachment do you use on each? Your playing looks so smooth and you sound is breathtaking. I’m also using your lessons from your site to get familiar with chord melody jazz. Thank you for this video and all of yours which are so inspiring.
Hi Stephen, thanks for your comment. I use a lap support called "NeckUp" and love it, it makes playing so much more enjoyable. You can look them up at www.neckup.com
Lovely play....I am looking for the tab for that song you playing at the beginning to buy
parabens colega. I knew you were brazilian when you said Nashviu. Vou tentar este num u bass que estou fazendo com um mini 21” scale violão
is this pickup also good for a steel string acoustic? Thanks for those great reviews and beautiful playing Walter!
Hi Raymond. Absolutely! They make them for steel string and nylon. Here’s the website address where you can get more information on the systems available: www.goacousticaudio.com
Wow! great playing ! What's the name of sample #2?
Hi Walter, very glad to see you doing a video like this. You have such a wonderfully deft touch on the guitar that seems to gently coax beautiful sounds from your instrument. My style is, at times, much more aggressive, which can cause a pickup’s purity to degrade to a dirty or distorted sound. Does this pickup hold up to a hard strummed attack as well as gentle finger picking? In other words, can it match a given instrument’s dynamic range? Thanks for all of your wonderful videos. They’re very inspiring!
Thanks so much for the kind words. Yes, the dynamics on this system is amazing, it shines on every playing style! I strongly recommend you contact them for all the details on the system, it’s quite fascinating what they are doing and how much technology is behind it, and they are very nice people too :)
Dear Glady,
There are a few things I can share about what we are doing that will define your experiences as opposed to our system.
1) under saddle PUs are compressed and limited in output by compression. So when you play then hard they reach a limit and then begin to distort. The under saddle PUs require considerable gain to have adequate output signal.
We do not use compression in our design which allows us to not need to boost the signal with gain to have a strong signal.
2) Our Go Acoustic PU output is great enough and the Input signal strong enough that we actually are cutting gain, so reaching a peak where distortion will occur is not very likely under high stress. This means the input signal is attenuated and distortion free headroom is very high.
Also, if your playing style were an issue with over driving the signal going into the preamp from the bridge, you simply turn down the individual string vol. Pots which cuts the input signal even further, limiting any risk of over driving the output.
A very aggressive latin plectrum guitarist installed our drop-in polydrive retrofit in his Godin multiac. He was skeptical at first thinking the system lacked dynamics for his aggressive style compared to the original system he was used to hearing. But after playing a loud gig he was completely amazed and said he was turning down the guitar at the board as he played harder through the gig.
I think you will find the dynamic range capable of handling your style. It is easy enough on our system to limit gain. But to date it has never been an issue we have had to adjust for.
Glady, I'm quoting below a comment from Michael Battista on this video that might also help answering your question:
"I play an aggressive style of Spanish guitar fusion. I use a Godin. When my pick ups failed I heard about Paul and his pick ups. I ordered some and was pleasantly surprised. The one thing I love about them that the original Godin pick ups didn’t have is dynamics. I can play them soft and I can pick them hard and they respond accordingly. But most of all I like it when I do dig in with my pic to play my solos the pickups respond beautifully. The strings originally in the Godin used to always pop out of their pick up saddled because they could not handle the aggressiveness of my playing. That has not happened once with Paul’s pick ups."
@@walterfingerstyle Thanks Walter!
@@conecaster The tech explanation makes a lot of sense. Thank you!
Walter, tudo bem?
Your videos are such a pleasure. I have the gk studio Cordoba. It came with built in electronics. Not as nice as yours. I am wondering if your beautiful Córdoba came with built-in electronics as well.
Thanks Bob. Yes, it came with a Fishman system.
Amigo Walter, tu guitarra que marca es?
PD: que bello sonido le sacas a tu viola.
You are very good! Can you do “Someone to watch over me”?
What were you playing in the beginning? Sounded amazong
Something tells me you could make a cigar box and some fishing line sound great!
hey walter i was wondering how often you use your studio monitors vs headphones while recording/practicing?
Hey James! I usually use the headphones only when I record with mics, otherwise I prefer using the monitors.
@@walterfingerstyle thank you! this is quite helpful for me
Hi Walter, Great playing and sound! Im curious what you use for a live set up with the GoAcoustic? Amp, preamp? I've tried most systems and currently have a Barbera soloist in my nylon string which I pair with a Tonedexter preamp. As with most pickups/systems it has its pros and cons. I like the trebles but still too much quack in the bass. Very curious about this system and if you've compared it with the Barbera? Thanks!!!
Hi Kasey, my live set up is very simple as I plug in straight to an AER classic amp and depending on the venue size, I also use it as a DI. I haven't had a Barbera system in any on my guitars so I can't really compare it to the Go Acoustic Audio system, but what I can tell you for sure is that the GAA has the most natural acoustic like sound I've heard so far, with a great dynamics response and feedback rejection. If you reach out to Paul McGill at GAA he can certainly give you all the specs on the system. All best / Walter.
@@walterfingerstyle Thanks so much, I will do so....simple is the way to go, I like it.
what is the piece you're playing in the beginning of the video Walter? Sounds like a nice bossanova!
Hi Raymond, that's an original called "Better Days Ahead." Here's a link to the full version: ruclips.net/video/hrU2LjSb9zg/видео.html
Glad to see you join the GoAcoustic club, Walter. I beat you to it. Had mine installed in my trusty old Takamine 132C back in 2020. It has replaced my Godin Grand Concert as my main nylon string gigging guitar. Looks like Paul has updated the saddle since mine. My version has the individual piezo saddle pieces made my Graphtech, and I don't have the internal mic option. But I'm very happy with mine. As you say, the feedback rejection is phenomenal and the string to string balance couldn't be better. You can find my review on my channel.
Hey Don, great to hear from you. That’s awesome you also use the go acoustic, I’m loving it, best system I’ve ever used hands down! Mine doesn’t have midi connection thought, I think yours do, right? Great review you did. Cheers!
@@walterfingerstyle No, no midi connection, just the Graphtech piezo saddle pieces, similar to the RMC system. It outputs to a simple 1/4" jack. I do have a 3 band EQ preamp, however. Paul's first incarnation of the GoAcoustic used the individual saddle pieces. Now he has embedded the individual piezo pieces into a continuous saddle, rather than a single strip of piezo material like most of the other transducer pickups. The MIDI connection is in my Mitchell LP style steel string electric in which I have installed a Graphtech Ghost preamp and replacement Tune-o-matic bridge fitted with the individual piezo saddles. In that guitar I output through a 13 pin MIDI cable to a Boss GP-10 multi-effects processor to duplicate as close as I can the original guitar sounds of the classic rock, country and blues covers I play in my one-man-band show. I don't use synth sounds, rather modeling sounds of different guitars and amps...and alternate tunings such as open G for Stones tunes, DADGAD for Kashmir by Led Zeppelin and a 12 string for the vocal accompaniment to Hotel California.
@@DonMitchell50 Oh ok, that makes sense. Nice setup you have! Sounds like you’ve having lots of fun :)
Don,
I just re watched your Go Acoustic review. Thank you for doing such an in- depth explanation of our system.
Walter is not as familiar with the electronics mind behind Go Acoustic as you are. Ben has dedicated untold hours to perfecting the circuits that create the Go Acoustic capability. The concept of separate string inputs into a Preamp is not new but it was something I knew would control feedback and I saw no choice but to seek to provide a stage system with ultimate capacity in high vol. stage situations. It took me several years of searching for someone who could take the promise to a new level of result.
I met Ben Shaw in the summer of 2015. He had recently Graduated from Belmont University as a mathematician but had spent most of his time at school working with Sal Greco at Oceanway studios. His background in pro audio and training in studio sound engineering bring mu h depth to the outcome.
Ben took the individual input circuits and designed something beyond my imagination.
In the summer of 20 I set out to design a single saddle pickup with 6 outputs. Since that time Ben and I have worked together to perfect this new pickup which is designed for a natural tonality while exploiting the wonderful qualities built into the preamp Ben so beautifully designed.
Since 2017 when I asked touring Artist Peter White to test the first of these preamps on a live, high vol., stage, I knew the system had conquered the issues of feedback resistance.
A guitarist no long has to fight their guitar to perform acoustically. You do not need a rack to model the sound and manufacture tone.
The key is to provide the best output signal from the guitar.
Everyone wants a great dynamic acoustic guitar. But now that dynamic can be taken to a new level of vol. and still retain the quality of a great acoustic guitar sound.

What is sample 2? Is there a score available so I can attempt to play it? Thanks!
Hi Walter. Thanks or sharing. How does the direct sound of this compare to your godin? May I ask which do you prefer?
It sounds way more natural comparing to the Godin.
Walter - did you have options for the color of the jack-pin when installing the Go Acoustic? (i.e. Black, Copper, Chrome). I am going to install this system in a couple more guitars but I don't want the jack-pin to impact the look of the Tail Wedge.
Thanks, John
Gig Harbor, WA
Hi John, I’m not sure about that but I would think they could customize it. I’ll forward your comment to Go Acoustic, they are pretty quick to respond.
John, I just messaged you on FB
It sounds great. I'm sure the amp you play it through will make a difference. Can you tell us the cost?
I've played it through two different PA systems, an AER amp and also direct to the audio interface (on this video), they all sound amazing. The one I got installed sells for $395. Here's their website with all the info: www.goacousticaudio.com
you are so good walter, where did you study? i really want to become a musician of your level
Thanks Andii! I went to GIT and FIU (Florida International University), but the best school is still the music school of life :) Play as much as you can and transcribe the people you love listening to 👍🏻
Ive been looking for nylon string pickups. THIS sounds amazing BUT how does it sound if you play aggressive as in a Flamenco strumming part???
I don't play flamenco, I wish I did though :) so I can't really tell you how it performs in that style, but a believe it should be as good as it is in fingerstyle, I love the system, really natural sounding comparing to regular piezo systems. I believe they have some video samples on their website with players performing different styles.
Scroll up and see the past by Barista. He is very aggressive
O seu violão Cordoba já tinha um sistema elétrico original de fábrica ou só era acústico mesmo?
Sim, ele vem com um sistema da fishman.
Hi.
What strings do you use on your Cordoba GK pro?
You play beautifully.
Regards.
Thank you! I use D'Addario Pro Arte hight tension
@@walterfingerstyle Thank you very much.
Amazing sound... of course, you would make a 2x4 sound amazing anyway.
Have you had the opportunity to compare the Go Acoustic Audio system with the Barbera soloist?
Regards.
No I have not.
Like you, I have a Godin nylon slim mulitiac... how does it compare? I have no feedback issues even running thru a Roland GR-55.
Hi Brad, the multiac is pretty good when it comes to feedback rejection, I think what sets the Go Acoustic apart, besides the feedback rejection as well, is the natural tone it captures from the instrument and the response / dynamics. They have a replacement system for the Godin multiac. Here's the website address where you can get more detailed info on their fantastic systems www.goacousticaudio.com
sir i need to know what model cordoba guitar ur playing. is it solid back and sides and rosewood? thanks.
Hola!! what piece did you play in the intro starting at 0:05?
It's an original called "Better Days Ahead" ruclips.net/video/hrU2LjSb9zg/видео.html
Mr. Walter could you please tell me what model is the Godin you use. Thanks
Grand Concert Multiac SA 👍🏻
Pretty good sounding pickup but a bit nasal and metallic/thin sounding (specially the trebles) for my taste. Maybe a bit of compression and Eq could thicken the tone a little.
The music at 0:05 is captivating. Why? The touch, the compelling harmony, the expressive and subtle counter-lines, and the tone. It's like a tiny stream of gold in a dark forest. I have to explore this.

Hi, Intrigued! I am having a guitar built for me by Wm. Cumpiano. Nylon string, but configured with a 1 and 3/4" nut. Do you know if this pickup will work with such a guitar. Would there be a string alignment problem?
They can custom fit it for any type of guitar. Give Paul a call... their contact info is on the video description, they are the best!
String spacing ranges from from 2 1/8th up to 2 -3/8

The website is really confusing. I went to products but didn’t know what I was looking at! Is the price really 400 dollars?
Yes, it is $395
I needed more than the stuff that costs $195 Or the Chinese stuff for $30

@@walterfingerstyle OK. Thanks Walter😀
Is this pickup a piezo or different?
It is a piezo but it has individual string sensors built in inside the saddle, unlikely a regular piezo which has one sensor strip that lays under the saddle.
I enjoy your playing, and have purchased your collection of hymn arrangements. However, that pickup still has that buzzy, piezo electric sound that I detest. I'm looking into the JourneyTek system, which is inexpensive and sounds EXTREMELY natural on a steel string, but I have yet to hear it on a classical...
Naudo Rodriguez the best in the world
I remember buying my classical guitar, it felt like buying a grand piano.
Good for jazz but doesn’t have a stringy enough sound for flamenco or classical . Still too piezo-ish
nice playing but the pickup sounds very piezo ish
What about that face !
I am sold! Problem is The Plandemic caused me to lose my job. Can not afford that.
