love the video, my 2010 yaris is up to around 180k miles with original muffler and has been adding horsepower the past 2 years. It finally failed inspection for emission, no codes but pretty sure the loud exhaust is causing the issue. Was considering doing this myself but just got 16" of snow and have no inside garage to work in so gonna do a rare thing and see what a shop quotes me before deciding. Also I have my heat shield in the back seat as it fell off the car a few years back and I picked it up off the road but never put it back on...
I've been a follower since one of your old subaru bozo does it videos, I still think this is one of the most enjoyable channels on youtube. You've got authenticity and a good personality. I'd have looked at those bolts and gone right to the grinder or the oxy acetylene torch though hahah! I definitely know your pain.
Thank you for your loyalty and feedback, it is much appreciated! I gotta get me one of those. Bolts are 50 cents, but two hours of my time definitely isn't...
This helped a lot. Unfortunately the walker muffler oreilly shipped me had the flange not welded all the way around so I had to take it off because it was leaking. I’m going to get it welded the rest of the way.
Hey man, nice video. I like what you're doing. You deserve more subscribers. Keep up the good work and please do ramble as much you seem fit on any topic ;)

where did you buy the new parts(bolts, springs, and gasket)? Mine has a similar problem, but im thinking it might just be the gasket that needs replaced.
'07 n mine just wore out. Considering doing this myself but that separating the old muffler part seems it'd be frustrating without an angle grinder and impact as in my case.
@@Bootstrappin Thanks for that. I just completed the muffler swap and it went very well thanks to this vid! I ended up using my reciprocating saw. A lil janky because it'd get caught sometimes but it worked out. My new muffler had some metal burs on the inside of the nut. Very fun to break those off after already fitting the thing into the rubber holders under the car. Anyway, BIG THANKS AGAIN!
I feel you. If I was in your shoes, I'd get a quote from a local shop, and compare that to the roughly 2-6 hours this job might take to DIY + cost of parts, and potential extra tools needed. Chances are, the shop is probably going to be more cost effective. But if you're shooting for the feeling of accomplishment, then that's priceless.

I was being sarcastic. Though, depending on the engine, a more free flowing exhaust can in fact add power because the engine doesn't need to overcome as much resistance in pushing the exhaust out through the pipe.

Replaced the muffler on my 2007 Yaris following this video. Thank you. No problem whatsoever....and the car still thinks it has 800 hp.
If the car believes it, then it's true! Enjoy your Ferrari killer!
gotta love the Fer'yari
I found your content on Reddit during one of your home remodeling videos. Seriously, keep it up. Love the content and style. See you at 1M subs!

Those inspectors are always looking to stiff you out of horsepower, like what the heck 😤

Go for it! Worst that can happen is you gain 450hp!

Did you grinder the exhaust?! That 'crack' was preeetty perfect
Managed not to grind the exhaust somehow! Gotta be gentle and patient

I would use Anti-Seize compound on the new bolts.
Actually that's a great point, would've been a lot less hassle.
Doesn't give you much if the whole thing falls apart. The screws were totally fine, but the other end was loose.

Quick shot of engine paint on the nuts with the spot welds might get you a few extra KM's before you begin adding more horsepower again.
A really good suggestion tbh, maybe some hi-temp enamel or even JB weld
Whaat can't this man dooo???? Lof your vid :D
Apparently I can't find a muffler that lasts longer than a few years lol

The impact you probably don't need, but definitely need some kind of saw, maybe a sawzall.

I can confirm. Don't even try to remove the old bolts in any other way, you will fail miserably. Just cut them in half and be happy.

What is this part called at 1:07? I need a gasket for this particular part along the exhaust.
Nickson 13835 is the gasket I’m looking for but do you know how I can find the OEM Toyota one?

Stupid question, but why does an exhaust leak add HP?

Missed opportunity to show off the muffler delete sound of the 800 HP Yaris after you got it fully off. 😞
Dang, you right. Maybe the new owner can accommodate the next time, these never seem to last lol.
I'm just gonna leave my leak alone. mine is leaking up front before the cat. the extra hp on the highway is worth it.
