For me, my tithing and my charitable giving are two different things. I tithe to support my church and our missions. I give to the charities that speak to my heart.
Tithing was old covenant and only for the Israelites. In addition it was only farmers that tithed and they tithed produce not money. No other profession tithed including Jesus as a carpenter.

I'm not sure why the hosts are conflating giving to charity with tithing. I give to my church and those I know in need, and do so joyfully, but I would not report that as giving to charity. Most "charities" are not exactly charities, and I wouldn't want to give to most of them!

In Canada, where I live…there are resources to help feed, clothes and provide shelter to the homeless. We also in our country seeing a lot of addiction to hard and deadly drugs. Supporting community organizations financially is also valuable.
The Bible says that the lord has forgiven our sins as far as the east is from the west. East and west never meet. He didn't say as far as the north is from the south. That would limit our forgiveness

Wow all these judging comments here. We are not under the law of Moses anymore and a requirement to tithe. We are to help and cheerfully give to those in need of help, not in support of the elaborate church buildings and private planes of the pastors. It seems that people had figured it out.
Some people have children or family members that are struggling and their money goes to them first. Times have been hard for a while for a lot of people. Personally my 10% has gone to my child. I do what I can for my church and for the homeless people.
Giving with a cheerful heart is the ONLY standard that is given in the New Testament (the new covenant) , there is NO other standard given for Christians on the subject of giving. If anyone tries to burden you with any other type of standard, they are trying to trap you into legalism, and that is looking back onto the standard that was given under the LAW, but we are NOT UNDER THE LAW because Jesus fulfilled the law, living a perfect life, sinless and spotless and then giving himself up as sacrifice for OUR sins.

The verse mentioning, " members of one another" , while referring to all humans , definitely requires both edges of the Sword. Spiritual discernment and discerning the spirits is everso valuable. This is interesting. I have been studying the historical texts used to translate the Bible into English. If this person was found buried only 200 years after Christ Jesus was resurrected from the dead, it’s possible that deceased person was following alexandrian text seeing that their doctrine is more in line with catholic. The Alexandrian text I am finding out is older than the TR. many modern translations have risen from these supposed older text. As a result, there has also been lots of uniting between Catholics and other denominations. I am starting to discover more and more that when Paul said wolves were coming in and not sparing the flock that this also started immediately, so we must give very careful attention to the text we use to translate God’s word. Older doesn’t mean better or truer. ❤
I don't understand the median average income of 80,000 since this year is the first year I will be making only 40,000 and that is after I have been working for 50 years and raised two children on my pay. Thank God I never felt poor.
Very interesting news about archaeology. I would like to point out that English also comes from Latin - at least 60% of words. And that every American gets 80,000 is just that: the mean. Most Americans struggle to get 50% to 60% of that. But a mean is an average that considers those very rich together with those very poor. And charity I am sure is not the only valid cause to donate; church ministries are also something important to donate to, specifically to missionaries around the world being supported from US ENTIRELY.

I appreciate this very much I would like to add couple of things to think about I agree with the gentleman on here stating that he doesn’t believe the new testament, new covenant puts people in the tithes- yet it’s a good principle. Tithe meaning “tenth” of increase. I think that is the biblical teaching that we are to give all we have in as many ways as possible. 😊 One thing to think about when we discuss others’ giving, is that in Ecclesiastes Solomon, I believe, states “cast your bread upon the waters”, meaning plural, and elsewhere, stating “to many” not just one cause, so to speak. So while we’re looking at a giving to a congregation per capita, we need to think about other things unseen, that ‘the right hand does not see what the left-hand is doing’. So this could be useful there are some who give too many areas of the gospel work and not simply to their congregation. If you think about the concept of the temple tithe being not mandated under new covenant that even makes more sense to not give your building or missions department of your church denomination or congregation. As a christian, I love this broadcast and I especially love the coverage of scientific information. It really strengthens my faith. But there is something I cannot understand, and it is the idea that so many Christian commentators seem to be opposed to the idea that human beings have damaged the earth. I see nothing in the Bible that suggests and that it somehow wrong to protect our environment and our resources. I understand that we shouldn't worship the creation as maybe some environmentalists might do, but there always seems to be some kind of dismissal about the impact that our habits have had on the planet.

This means that man does not destroy the earth, so the environment movement is not from God's word, but man's word (false truth). As man's word, can we fully believe their interpretation. I am skeptical of popular science.

My issue which no one will explain including so called flat earthers is when the camera is recording the sun and the earth is supposedly spinning shouldnt the camera pan left and then right since we are spinning and the sun is off at a far distance. How could the camera do a complete 360 degree spin? How would the sun get behind the camera. If im standing on a merry go round or any spinning object recording a stationary object my camera will first point straight ahead then pan off to the left and then back to the right until we end up straight ahead again. The only change should be how low the sun is on the horizon. In the morning it should be higher than the evening when its furthwr away. You know why i dont believe they went to the south pole? Because they wont dare to answer this simple question. Everyone in alaska knows that sun does a complete 360 degree spin and with their model it shouldn't.

I do not give to charity or churches. I cannot see where my money is going and with all adverts for charities u know the charity itself is not getting your full donation. Did Jesus tithe? If so, did he do it with money? No, he helped people. That is the tithe. God doesn't need our money. He needs us to spread the word and help people where we can, that's how i show charity. Volunteer your time to a food bank, or an animal shelter or a not for profit organization. As for money, not happening.
I tithe with money and time. I tithe with money because I know the money is going to maintain the church building, to pay for all the many ways my church is pouring into my children, and for community outreach. However, if someone doesn’t have a church that is doing those things, I absolutely understand tithing using your time! Our pastor always tells us that tithes don’t always come in the form of money! ❤ Our pastor doesn’t take a salary from the church, he works a full time job. Also, we get detailed statements of where our money is going and we can choose which account or what we want our tithe to go towards if we give money. We have a small independent Baptist church in a rural town in Georgia and I couldn’t be more blessed to have a church family like ours!

In Canada, where I live…there are resources to help feed, clothes and provide shelter to the homeless. We also in our country seeing a lot of addiction to hard and deadly drugs. Supporting community organizations financially is also valuable.
The Bible says that the lord has forgiven our sins as far as the east is from the west. East and west never meet. He didn't say as far as the north is from the south. That would limit our forgiveness

Wow all these judging comments here. We are not under the law of Moses anymore and a requirement to tithe. We are to help and cheerfully give to those in need of help, not in support of the elaborate church buildings and private planes of the pastors. It seems that people had figured it out.

Some people have children or family members that are struggling and their money goes to them first. Times have been hard for a while for a lot of people. Personally my 10% has gone to my child. I do what I can for my church and for the homeless people.
Giving with a cheerful heart is the ONLY standard that is given in the New Testament (the new covenant) , there is NO other standard given for Christians on the subject of giving. If anyone tries to burden you with any other type of standard, they are trying to trap you into legalism, and that is looking back onto the standard that was given under the LAW, but we are NOT UNDER THE LAW because Jesus fulfilled the law, living a perfect life, sinless and spotless and then giving himself up as sacrifice for OUR sins.

This is interesting. I have been studying the historical texts used to translate the Bible into English. If this person was found buried only 200 years after Christ Jesus was resurrected from the dead, it’s possible that deceased person was following alexandrian text seeing that their doctrine is more in line with catholic. The Alexandrian text I am finding out is older than the TR. many modern translations have risen from these supposed older text. As a result, there has also been lots of uniting between Catholics and other denominations. I am starting to discover more and more that when Paul said wolves were coming in and not sparing the flock that this also started immediately, so we must give very careful attention to the text we use to translate God’s word. Older doesn’t mean better or truer. ❤
I don't understand the median average income of 80,000 since this year is the first year I will be making only 40,000 and that is after I have been working for 50 years and raised two children on my pay. Thank God I never felt poor.

Very interesting news about archaeology. I would like to point out that English also comes from Latin - at least 60% of words. And that every American gets 80,000 is just that: the mean. Most Americans struggle to get 50% to 60% of that. But a mean is an average that considers those very rich together with those very poor. And charity I am sure is not the only valid cause to donate; church ministries are also something important to donate to, specifically to missionaries around the world being supported from US ENTIRELY.

I would like to add couple of things to think about
I agree with the gentleman on here stating that he doesn’t believe the new testament, new covenant puts people in the tithes- yet it’s a good principle. Tithe meaning “tenth” of increase.
I think that is the biblical teaching that we are to give all we have in as many ways as possible. 😊
One thing to think about when we discuss others’ giving, is that in Ecclesiastes Solomon, I believe, states “cast your bread upon the waters”, meaning plural, and elsewhere, stating “to many” not just one cause, so to speak.
So while we’re looking at a giving to a congregation per capita, we need to think about other things unseen, that ‘the right hand does not see what the left-hand is doing’.
So this could be useful there are some who give too many areas of the gospel work and not simply to their congregation. If you think about the concept of the temple tithe being not mandated under new covenant that even makes more sense to not give your building or missions department of your church denomination or congregation.

As a christian, I love this broadcast and I especially love the coverage of scientific information. It really strengthens my faith. But there is something I cannot understand, and it is the idea that so many Christian commentators seem to be opposed to the idea that human beings have damaged the earth. I see nothing in the Bible that suggests and that it somehow wrong to protect our environment and our resources. I understand that we shouldn't worship the creation as maybe some environmentalists might do, but there always seems to be some kind of dismissal about the impact that our habits have had on the planet.
God protects his creations, but not as before the fall. We do as Christians, keep going on. God provided fossil fuels from the flood (a blessing, especially in winter) In Revelation, God destroys the old heaven and earth. HE brings a new heaven and new earth. This means that man does not destroy the earth, so the environment movement is not from God's word, but man's word (false truth). As man's word, can we fully believe their interpretation. I am skeptical of popular science.

My issue which no one will explain including so called flat earthers is when the camera is recording the sun and the earth is supposedly spinning shouldnt the camera pan left and then right since we are spinning and the sun is off at a far distance. How could the camera do a complete 360 degree spin? How would the sun get behind the camera. If im standing on a merry go round or any spinning object recording a stationary object my camera will first point straight ahead then pan off to the left and then back to the right until we end up straight ahead again. The only change should be how low the sun is on the horizon. In the morning it should be higher than the evening when its furthwr away. You know why i dont believe they went to the south pole? Because they wont dare to answer this simple question. Everyone in alaska knows that sun does a complete 360 degree spin and with their model it shouldn't.

I do not give to charity or churches. I cannot see where my money is going and with all adverts for charities u know the charity itself is not getting your full donation. Did Jesus tithe? If so, did he do it with money? No, he helped people. That is the tithe. God doesn't need our money. He needs us to spread the word and help people where we can, that's how i show charity. Volunteer your time to a food bank, or an animal shelter or a not for profit organization. As for money, not happening.
I tithe with money and time. I tithe with money because I know the money is going to maintain the church building, to pay for all the many ways my church is pouring into my children, and for community outreach. However, if someone doesn’t have a church that is doing those things, I absolutely understand tithing using your time! Our pastor always tells us that tithes don’t always come in the form of money! ❤
Our pastor doesn’t take a salary from the church, he works a full time job. Also, we get detailed statements of where our money is going and we can choose which account or what we want our tithe to go towards if we give money. We have a small independent Baptist church in a rural town in Georgia and I couldn’t be more blessed to have a church family like ours!
