I just don't understand, you are worried about the death of your favorite character, but you play so inattentively that you do not upgrade the Normandy before the last mission ...
Kamran Khan LOL...he's like we're on the suicide mission and the collectors are shooting at us but damn it I gotta finish those calibrations before I dieXD
No, the Garrus death I got is, when you're in the collector base, after getting into that door, if you don't do Garrus's loyalty mission, he'll keep looking through that door as the collectors are firing into it, and eventually one headshots him, he dies instantly, Shepard says "Garrus" and makes a sad face over his body, and everybody moves on.
Logansgaming ...shame, I would've thrown Grunt infront of him, Grunt can take it!....well, he can't actually...that was the one and only way grunt died in my squad...goddamned seekers.
First time: Everyone lived Second time: Everyone lived Third time: Everyone lived Fourth time: Everyone lived Fifth time: Everyone lived Sixth time: Everyone lived ...I just can't do it guys, i just can't.
My first playthrough I was 100% prepared but picked the wrong squad members for certain roles and Garrus got eaten alive by a Collector swarm and I cried.
Happened to me with Miranda on my second playthrough, at the time i was doing her romance so I had to reload the whole mission. Fucking hate the swarm, for some reason I always forget to recruit Samara..
Chaos Core It is possible to get *EVERYONE* out alive: 1. Find the teammates needed in a somewhat proper sequence. (Legion SHOULDN'T be given to Cerberus, that will reduce the overall firepower for the suicide mission and possibly get teammates killed) 2. Pick the teammates in the right sequence for the right job in the end. (ex. For the security breach part, pick Kasumi or Legion, they are the best choices for this part, and the end when you get ready to face the Human-Reaper, pick weaker teammates for taking the stronger ones will weaken the teams defenses and get others killed)
Darthfaceplant Security breach - Kasumi, Legion or Tali. Second leader - Garrus, Miranda or Jacob. Through swarm of Seekers - Jack or Samara. Get crew back - Mordin, hold the line -take Tali and Kasumi with you - they are weakest in straight up fight. You are golden.
If most party members die, you shrug and move on. If Mordin, Jack, Grunt, or Legion die, you weep. If Garrus or Tali die, you start the fucking game over again.
@VayuPurana yes, you must get the 3 ship upgrades. garrus too lead teams, mordin to take the survivers back, jack for the shield, and thats all i can remember, sorry it was a long time ago
@Android2137 i have no clue, after i got to the harkin spot, i was in the normandy, and i then found out the mission glitched and failed, so either harkin had a time paradox machine in his brain activate when he dies, or shepard had a nightmare.
@Enlishgal Actually, the only main character is Shepard, and even Shepard can die. That would mean you can't import your character to ME3, since he/she is dead, but it can still end that way.Garrus is a support character, just like the rest. The missions involving him though would probably just be unavailable, or switch to a different character in a different way. They're not looking to tie into a new game, unlike ME1 and 2, so whatever endings are available in the previous, they'll have a plan for
@TheJackpotOnRs You could either not recruit him (Samara, Thane, Tali, Legion, Kasumi and Zaeed are all optional) or you devise it so that he dies when the drive core explodes (Provided you didn't upgrade the Normandy's shields)
@Squiglypig no, sorry didnt mean that, you send mordin with the crew cause if you keep him with the crew that holds you back he dies sometimes i unno why but some runthroughts i made he didnt make it through the last gun fight
@VayuPurana in order for everyone to survive you need the 3 ship upgrades, and everyone must be loyal, as for jobs Garrus or Miranda must lead the second team, Tali or Legion must go through the ducts, Samara/Morinth,Miranda, or Jack must be your biotic shield, the distraction team at this point again should be led by Garrus or Miranda (you can tell by the radio dialogue if the distraction team leader will survive) and Mordin must escort the crew back to the ship, hope this helps.
@superfreegoat All you need is all your squad member's loyalty missions completed to make everyone on the Normandy survive. You can save the captive crewmembers if you go right away, (loyalty or not) and you can save everyone on the ship during the attack if you assign the right tasks to them. As long as they're loyal, they will survive.
@Badbro95 Basically there are three wayss to ensure that no one dies. Get all of the ship upgrades, and before you go on the mission that the allows the collectors to attack you do ALL of the loyalty missions you're golden. Then you just have to pick the right choices. Like legion for the pipe, samara for the shield, and miranda for the leading part.
@video166 Make sure you get all the ship upgrades, get all the team's loyalty, and then finally make the correct squad decisions on the suicide mission. Anything else?
@TheREALnorp then you probably didn't fully upgrade the normandy or all the character upgrades for them if you have all that they are less likely to die
@sethnet1022 Then it must have been a one-time glitch in your game. Tali, Legion, and Kasumi are the three options who can successfully overcome the door's security system in time, so there's no reason to fail picking Tali. Unless you didn't earn Garrus' loyalty. Then he'll fail to provide enough suppressing fire to let the tech expert work even though he's supposed to be a good choice.
@NINJApenguinCHIMP They did reveal Mordin in the Demo, not sure if he's available as a squad member, unless you guys killed him off in second one as well.
@Predi180695 well the impale death happens for not buying the thanix cannon but most of the time thane dies that way not garrus thats why the video is called a strange death for garrus
@HumanLarva I'm not expecting a drama from shepard, I think that if Bioware put a little effort into giving each character (or at least some of them depending on the situation) one line before dying it would be awesome
@kingofmonra Apparently there's a very specific set of things you have to do to get Garrus impaled. Thane's normally the one who gets skewered. You don't upgrade the ship, yeah, but you also have to take Tali with you to fight Oculus, so Thane ends up dying in engineering instead. Since Thane's already dead, they kill Garrus.
First time around, made sure everyone survived with all the loyaltiy missions done and upgrades to the ship and team gear just for kicks. Might change that around next time through.
@edwincrooks if thane dies in the engine room or didnt get recruited then garrus takes his place, if garrus died on the engine room then zaeed/grunt takes his place
I did his loyalty mission. I redid this immediately after I beat the game since I had an alternate save before this. I gave the Normandy all of the upgrades to. Everyone survived
The only reason why something like this would happen is if you didn't do Garrus' loyalty mission and therefore you didn't get the Thannix Cannon upgrade for the Normandy. And yes, you can boost your chances of keeping all crew members alive by using the save game editor. All you need to do is to go into the Plot section for ME2 and under Flags (I think), you can select which members are loyal to Shepard.
@CptPakundo Yup. I finally fell to check the guide, and sending Mordin with the Norm. crew seems to be a better choice, and something like Tali and Miranda for the final battle.
During my first playthrough, Thane died in this manner. And he was the last person I recruited. Sad, but I went back and saved all of my fallen teammates...with full paragon. Perfect save for ME3
Oh, good! There's no way I could bear losing Garrus... It would just break my heart and I'd have to redo whatever I need to in order to bring him back. :)
@urs4ever86 But the lack of drama (esp from Shepard) shows his focus and determination on completing the mission. When Tali (NOOOOO) died for me (and before I rage quit and reset) he was all "Tali...." and ran off. lol
Thankfully when I first played ME2 I knew just from logic since we never go into battle with the ship that the upgrades had to be related to the final mission, so yippeee no one dies on my ship. >:D
@VayuPurana Grunt is not a good choice for any of these jobs except for the escort which anyone can do but Mordin is highly recommend as he is most likely to die any other way and arguably the weakest and easiest to kill squadmate, if you want Grunt to survive then the best bet would be to keep him on your main team during the mission.
@TheSevenCamels if garrus comes back, i hope the developers see this as contructive critisism to include some fucking dialalogue for the awesome turian !
They got Gar-
*Restarts the game*
Same!
There is no Mass Effect without Vakarian.
I was literally about to say this same thing. The game wouldn’t be the same without him.
I just don't understand, you are worried about the death of your favorite character, but you play so inattentively that you do not upgrade the Normandy before the last mission ...
@@KraTu7 this never happened to me, I was talking hypothetically
Mid
Shepard: "Garrus, no!"
Garrus: "Shepard... tell the crew... I never finished the calibrations..."
... and Shepard committed suicide right where this video ends. There's no Shepard without Vakarian.
Not sure which is duller. Garrus' anticlimactic death or the crew's monotonous commentary of it.
Miranda: "They got Garru--"
*Loading Last Save File*
That's the most anticlimactic way for Garrus to die.
he was in the middle of some calibrations
Kamran Khan
LOL...he's like we're on the suicide mission and the collectors are shooting at us but damn it I gotta finish those calibrations before I dieXD
For any of the crew its pretty anticlimactic. I wonder how people reacted to these deaths when they didnt upgrade their ship.
Shepard then overrided every door on the Normandy. No survivors.
"They got Garrus!"
CRITICAL GAME FAILURE
HOW COULD YOU ....
Should have worked harder on those calibrations.
Either that, or he should've been more careful doing so.
Miranda: They got Garrus!
Shepard: DAMN IT! And right in the middle of the calibrations!
One does not simply let Garrus die....unless one is an asshole.
well i didnt LET him die, he got taken away by a seeker swarm :(
Logansgaming ...shame, I would've thrown Grunt infront of him, Grunt can take it!....well, he can't actually...that was the one and only way grunt died in my squad...goddamned seekers.
Logansgaming same that is why i restarted the game
viacomsux45 You sir, are a true garrusian, I salute you.
N7Archangel Just get a Jack to do the barrier for you, or Samara, just remember that's best to have them serve a barrier at loyal mode.
I think I just died a little inside after seeing that. Garrus is too badass to go out at all let alone like that.
Miranda: "They got Garrus"
Shepard: "NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!-- *commits suicide*"
Suicide mission complete.
I believe this merits a re-load, reset and start all over.
First time: Everyone lived
Second time: Everyone lived
Third time: Everyone lived
Fourth time: Everyone lived
Fifth time: Everyone lived
Sixth time: Everyone lived
...I just can't do it guys, i just can't.
My first playthrough I was 100% prepared but picked the wrong squad members for certain roles and Garrus got eaten alive by a Collector swarm and I cried.
my first playthrough had Tali die. At which point I reloaded.

"Guys? I, *ow* need some help here. Big girder impaling me and all."
I read that in Garrus' voice. Perfect.
garrus is my favorite, i somehow failed his loyalty mission, so when he got taken away by swarms, i cried.
Ahhh remember how epic THIS ending was? And how your choices mattered? Those were the days...
Clever, son. Clever. I'm... proud of you...
"We're getting close, point blank, right down their throat!"
*Tali blushes from a distance*
garrus died so many times during the suicide mission in my game i had to keep restarting until i made him survive
Should have put that thanix cannon in.........
***** Then probe planets, it give you minerals.
There must be some rich planets with platinum on it. I would recommend rock planets, gas giants rarely have resources.
Oh....
***** RIP in peace, PS3
Garrus: "Can it wait for a bit? There's a metal beam in the middle of me."
That's how he died for me too. And i had him with me through all the missions in both games. I hope i can break in to cerberus in ME3 and revive him.
I got the exact same thing whenever I didn't get the ship's armor. It broke my heart, being how he was my FemShep''s LI.
0:23 Garrus: aww crap, I knew forgetting to mention the upgrade for the Normandy's weapon systems would bite me back in the ass some day.
Awww judt when I was going to do this on my playthrough cause I couldn't find it on YT you come with this! Damn you! :D
when you go to play mass effect 3 a message will pop up saying "no go back and replay mass effect 2 nobody lets Garrus die"
Did Joker actually think little pew pew lasers were going to work against the Collector ship?!?!
It’s either that or nothing
First time playing through and got everyone out alive. Twas very awesome
I'm Earth God Anger and this is my favourite person in the frakking virtual world.
NOOOOOO!!! he wasnt finished with the calibrations T_T were doomed i tell you! DOOMED!!
Garrus = Bioware
Beam = EA
Hey, metal beam, you got a minute? - Can it wait? I'm in the middle of some garrus..
Now he can do calibrations for the rest of eternity in turian heaven :(
all the post about garrus and his obsession with calibrating stuff made my day. thanks guys :)
"They got Garrus!"
AW HELL NAW, IM RESTARTING THIS SHIT!
"COME ON YOU MISERABLE SONS OF BITCHES!"
"Can it wait? I'm in the middle of some ......"
"They got Garrus!"
@avendanopaciorek some calibrations maybe? :D
its crazy how many different cutscenes etc. there are.

@ErdnaSeyer You damn right! Garrus is to Shepard, what Chewbacca is to Han solo.
@Android2137 i dont have any biotic specs, this was on the second playthrough, so i only had slam, and i was soldier
When you finish calibrating everything on the ship, but you forgot about the hull.
@CptPakundo Actually there are a series of guides you could look up to form the right teams to get it. Once I used one I got it on the first try.
@Squiglypig no, sorry didnt mean that, you send mordin with the crew cause if you keep him with the crew that holds you back he dies sometimes i unno why but some runthroughts i made he didnt make it through the last gun fight
My heart got crushed by watching that video but then the comments made me feel better lol
My heart sunk. I love Garrus :,(.
@DrabTea Respect. I bet very few people have any idea what you are on about. Thumbs up. :)
@superfreegoat All you need is all your squad member's loyalty missions completed to make everyone on the Normandy survive. If garrus dies, so does my eternal love for mass effect (no homo)
@mrbrain30 Use a Save editor, give yourself, I dunno, 1500 of Paragon and Renegade at the start of your playthrough.
@Jort007 Not sure, but it might have to do with you not upgrading the ship.
He went down like Corporal Dwayne Hicks (Colonial Marine). It breaks my heart.
@sethnet1022
Then it must have been a one-time glitch in your game. Tali, Legion, and Kasumi are the three options who can successfully overcome the door's security system in time, so there's no reason to fail picking Tali.

@theRealAnonymousRain On a spaceship, fighting Collectors, in the middle of doing calibrations? Wow, intense. (Sorry for your loss, by the way.)
Garrus is my most trusted ally. It'd be a shame to lose him
@HumanLarva I'm not expecting a drama from shepard, I think that if Bioware put a little effort into giving each character (or at least some of them depending on the situation) one line before dying it would be awesome
Tis nothing but a scratch! Come Garrus! Walk it off!!!
@kingofmonra Apparently there's a very specific set of things you have to do to get Garrus impaled. Thane's normally the one who gets skewered. First time around, made sure everyone survived with all the loyaltiy missions done and upgrades to the ship and team gear just for kicks. Might change that around next time through.
That girder performed some calibrations on Garrus' lower body.
Don't worry, I'm replaying just to keep you alive and the rest of the squad :D
@edwincrooks if thane dies in the engine room or didnt get recruited then garrus takes his place, if garrus died on the engine room then zaeed/grunt takes his place
One does not simply completes the Suicide Mission without Garrus...
The beam wouldn't wait until Garrus finished his calibrations.
@hottie14ism yes you have to upgrade the guns on the normandy and you do that like any other upgrade
I did his loyalty mission. I redid this immediately after I beat the game since I had an alternate save before this. I gave the Normandy all of the upgrades to. Everyone survived

"Can it wait a minute? The caladrations are in the middle of ME!" *bleh*
R.I.P Garrus
Died doing what he loved best, calibrations
During my first playthrough, Thane died in this manner. And he was the last person I recruited. Sad, but I went back and saved all of my fallen teammates...with full paragon. Perfect save for ME3
This is why you get every upgrade for the Normandy
No one dies if you do.
Man that would suck. Garrus is my favorite character.
@NINJApenguinCHIMP There's two more (one is DLC though). Their identities were leaked some time ago.
Oh, good! There's no way I could bear losing Garrus... It would just break my heart and I'd have to redo whatever I need to in order to bring him back. :)
If I saw this, I would take the disc out and back in and then replay the whole of ME2.

DAMN! He didn't get to finish his calibrations!
Can it wait for a bit? a beam is in the middle of me.
@HorrorMuffin1010 Garrus never dies Jorge, hes just missing in action.
Nothing that a few good calibrations can't fix.
Shit, I just got all teary-eyed. Garrus...
As soon as I see Garrus about to die and i can't do anything to stop it I'll be like load to the next file not letting him die 😒🙏🙏🙏😭😭😭
Yeah I did that the 2nd play through, was just wondering what the max amount of squad mates that can die and you still survive.
