You can tell Pat is so happy playing in Nirvana again. It makes me smile.
Pat's always smiling. Such a cool guy.
And Krist, too.
He just lives for music
Pat just to play because he can play air guitar jumping around like hes play some thing hey gays play whit the band again , make $$
Pat Is the best great guy always good cool
Dave’s drumming is accurate to the original. I love the fact he nails it like it was all yesterday.
Thousand hours playing it.. Muscle memory
He is Nirvana deummer no suprise here. Don’t over reacting about thing already hype 😂
@@mrmz3802 could be rusty man
This is how a proper nirvana reunion is done: you get a guy like John that can actually play the song with justice, all the while having his own style and not imitating Kurt.
Spot on. Not trying to imitate the guy. Just passion and obvious admiration.
Set list:
00:01 Serve The Servants
4:04 Scentless Apprentice

Why Joan Jet? She didn’t do any of these songs justice.

So Kurt is obviously irreplaceable but damn John killed it. Best nirvana covers I ever heard
@@Sythza1 Or any other Seether Nirvana cover, they're all great

Yeah Shaun Morgan from seether will give you chills. Check out something in the way acoustic and you know you’re right. It’s absolutely haunting.
Sythza1 yeah it’s haunting
@@Sythza1 Aye yo, no disrespect to you personally but FUCK Seether. Corny unoriginal bastards.
Dave is an insane drummer.
Great Drummer😍
Dave has it all. Style power groove etc etc
Nirvana is still his best band. Not to take away from his band because he has written some really great hooks, especially during the 90's but still prefer his drumming.
@@makemarker You should listen to Queens of the Stone Age album 'Songs for the Deaf' if you haven't already. Dave plays drums on there and the whole record is just frickin' awesome!
Best drummer)
John's vocal performance on Scentless Apprentice is just god damn amazing. You'd think that was Kurt himself singing it... wow.
One of my biggest regrets in life was not getting to see Nirvana live, but Kurt died when I was 14 and I missed my chance. However, I was at this show, and it felt like a little part of my heart healed that night. Thanks Dave, for making this happen.

Would love to see a Nirvana reunion with John singing. He nailed it
You just saw one!
neros1234 I know, like where can one find this legendary show we’re talking about? It’s the talk of the town.
Where can I buy my ticket? People need to HEAR Kurt's songs LIVE like this!

Kurt was a big influence on John McCauley. You should check out John's band Deer Tick. They have great music.
Just to see Dave open the concert with his drumming on "Serve the Servants" and "Scentless Apprentice" is a true wonder of the music world. Dude is attacking those drums just like he did in 1994. Very special moment, likely the closest "Nirvana reunion" we'll get in this lifetime.
props to mccauley for having the balls to even try to do this. And he sounds pretty damn good. I could imagine it'd be scary knowing how many people would immediately shit on you for even trying to do this. good on him!!
Just found this and It's incredible. So many memories from my youth. No one can ever replace Kurt but John was so good. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Definitely. Judging by the 81 at the end of your username I'm the same age as you. Listening to In Utero on my walkman over and over. Songs like Heart Shaped Box, Smells Like Teen Spirit and In Bloom being played at school dances as we tried to create a mosh pit lol. Great time to be a kid/teen.

John nailed sentless apprentice. I would pay money to see that lineup do a full set.
Dave suck drummer , only good is playing Nirvana's songs only why

When Dave sits behid the drumkit, he's a beast. Drummer at heart I guess. And so cool to see Krist playing his lines. Pat´s always good, and the first guy did gvery good on singing/guitar playing duties. They should do mre stuff together.
Pat is "All That"!
Dave will always be a drummer first in my mind. Probably cause I knew him first as the drummer in Nirvana. I don't really like the Foo Fighters much other than their first album.
Songs are pretty simple 2 play on gtar
Krist is amazing bassist and he is so underestimated. You can always recognize when Krist plays.
24:46 Never have I ever heard Dave sing a Nirvana song since Kurts death. Must moving part of the reunion.
He’s sung marigold a lot since nirvana broke up
This is the closest we'll ever get

The band sounds really great here, and John McCauley really nailed the vocals. Nice work.
It’s interesting the songs aren’t that dark when Kurt isn’t playing them

Playing rpg.
do you believe in god, Jared?
I love the head bang the Dave does when he hits his crash and ride cymbols at the same time.
This made me so happy and sad at the same time. So good seeing Dave, Krist and Pat playing together again.
I agree
John McCauley killed it. Brings back memories.
Yeah, He actually did a good job.
I would agree, just that, In Bloom, was a little rough.
He smashed scentless apprentice oml
WHO, WHAT, HUHHH
I skim through these to see how the substitute singers sounds. He did alright during the scentless apprentice chorus. In my opinion no one will be as good as Kurt so why even do these performances. I was so proud that Nirvana never tried to come back without Kurt, now I can't say that anymore.
RIP Kurt Cobain. We miss you.
empty city veins fuck yeah
I don't miss myself honestly
🤘
@@kurtisalive4473 hahaaha
No one sang like Kurt. That rasp with his melody and cadence was so unique and perfect. I miss Nirvana.
Dave's an awesome drummer. Love the power he plays with. McCauley did a really good job. Googled him and his band sometimes does sets as a Nirvana tribute band Deervana. Good choice picking him for this. He definitely knows the songs/material. Obviously there's no replacing Kurt but as a one time thing this was pretty decent. Seeing Dave, Krist and Pat playing together again was really cool.
The one event where the drummer gets all the focus.
It's the music that gets the attention.
Ikr!! That why i'm here!
As it should be!
Listening to McCauley with my eyes closed literally made me tear up ... RIP Kurt 💔 as my nose runs down my face
Kurt's manic scream in Scentless Apprentice !! props to this guy
How are people not going more insane? This is nirvana live!!
LOL I'd be too busy shaking and crying
That's like saying it's a Colonel Sanders reunion with serving burritos
Because kurt was not there💔
I’m old enough to have seen Nirvana live. I’ll never forget that show.
Manuel R. Me too!!!!. I swear them right after in Utero can out at the Cow Palace in San Francisco in 93. My dad took me for my 13 the birthday and it literally changed my life. Been obsessed with Kurt ever since.......
You lucky bastards, I'm 32 but I never got to seem Kurt and the boys back in the day :(
What was it like?
which show was it?
my uncle wanted to bring me to see them in massachusettes on the In Utero tour but my mom wouldnt let me go
I'm 38... I miss so much Nirvana... I want a world tour.... John McCauley rules!!!!! Awesome
I saw them in 1991 when I was 21. Thing is, you don't really know at the time that you're seeing all time greatness. It's only in retrospect.
You miss them so much, you'll have a cheap immitator try and fill them gigantic shoes! ( i gotta new complaint) ... leave the mighty Nirvana rest!

@@adamturner1563 Oh shut up, it was all in tribute to Kurt! There always has to be a little bitch, such as yourself that always feels the need to piss and moan when bands reunite to pay tribute to a late band member.
I'm with you bro...38. I'd def see that show.
I get the feeling that Kris is forlorn doing this, he gets into it a bit more when Joan comes on but the connection is gone for him because Kurt isnt next to him and that was what nirvana was about. It's not the same and he seems quite reluctant to do it which is understandable because he probably had the closest connection with Kurt with Dave and Pat joining later who clearly love doing this again. I think its bittersweet for him, he almost looks lonely up there, he knows what hes expected to do but he just cant bring himself to do it. I feel for him. An amazing bassist and a man truly affected by 1994. Much love Kris Novoselic
yep my tough also . and the feeling is not there either , the voice is good but it is no where near what nirvana was with Kurt
I agree the handful of time they play kris is alway just going threw the motions kurt and kris were extremely close and it’s never the same
Don't forget he was also trying to save Layne too. Bringing him food and talking with him. Loosing Kurt, and then trying to save Layne too, I'd also walk away from music.
You can see on his face (Krist)
That he misses Kurt somuch.
He also isn't a young man anymore 😂
I don't know who the first guy that is singing, but damn, he sounds so good!! That scream gave me chills . Kurt would be proud
John mccauley of deertick you can find him performing covers of nirvana, solo and in deervana also the dude can do Robert plant as well
Bravo and Hell Yeah! We needed this. And they played Nirvana's best two songs first. Cool to see Krist, Dave, and Pat Smear on the same stage again.
The body language between krits and dave is so heartwarming like "it's happening again my friend"
Love you all....Kurt we miss you man....😢😢
it still just feels so bittersweet when you look for Kurt up front.
Kurt's been dead for decades now. What can you do ..
Obviously Kurt was super important but 3/4 of the band is still around if you count pat.
Cool to see.
I am a firm believed that nobody can cover Kurt cobain. And Kurts voice gave nirvana a unique sound. But damn I gotta give this guy props he did an amazing job!!!!!!! Sounded pretty close
Agreed
Jacob Joyce if you go back and listen to the old live recordings, you’ll find that Kurt also had trouble covering Kurt
Nobody ever will, he was a national treasure.
Most of his songs are better live to, watch the live at paramount or reading DVD or the live and loud DVD performance was incredible, not the odd few where he was sick and soldiered on.
Shaun Morgan does a good job of covering him.
Radio friendly unit shifter with John would have been great

Dave hits those drums so hard, love him as a drummer
Never listened that much too Foo Fighters :P
You should give it a try
If you see him at about 15 years old, he always had a guitar. He picked drums up because, in his first band, pearled came in and just did the infamous rap beat. So Dave bought a drum set and learned how to play, but fast. I have seen a video of him at about 17, on a drum set killing it. Sounded so rock, too. Great work, Dave.
Give Foo Fighters a try, too. They play so well.
Matt Grebenik no don’t recommend the worst band ever lolz FF suck bad
They are great, you should take a look at the old albums
Today marks the 25th year of Kurt's passing. Watching this with goosebumps and tears running down my face. Kurt, you are missed. Rest in peace.
I agree with you.
Love that I was here for this!!! Makes me want to pick up my guitar again… it’s been too long
I love to watch Dave Grohl play the drums! It’s funny, though. Just about anyone can play Nirvana songs on the guitar, but very few capture the intricacies of the Cobain guitar sound.
Jt Williams same with the stooges guitar parts

Crowd is an embarrassment to humanity.
Endless Nameless Why is there so many comments about the crowd? Who cares if they’re not acting the way you’d act if you were there, people enjoy things differently, don’t have to be going crazy to enjoy a concert.
Greet themind couldn’t have said it any better
They should do this kind of concert in South America
@@greetthemind It's not about "acting like you would", it's about actually enjoying a concert. That crowd belongs to an opera, not to a Nirvana reunion.
It's just the fact that they're little maggots on their smartphones, recording the show for everyone else to see them be awesome, and instead of enjoying the freaking music like being crazy
O vocal do John McCauley ficou perfeito.
25 minutes of 90's... (to me, that means memories about flanned shirts, ripped jeans, long beards, and not a single smartphone to record a memory... just YOU!)

Wes Scantin of puddle of mudd is probably the closest to sounding similar to Kurt Brent from Fuel not quite
Colt Hattaway I find Jerry Cantrell’s voice to be similar. Check out Cut You In. I’m not disagreeing with your comment at all though, just wondered if you ever listened to him?
Shawn Morgan is by far the most "Cobain" voice
Shawn Morgan from Seether
I had a gig with my band that night but I really wanted to go since it was rumored they were going to get together and I live about 20 miles from where the festival was.
A couple of things; first, as a California native, I would like to apologize for the decadent display of the fans concerned more with social media recognition instead of actually taking in the moment. Secondly, although I was not present for the show, I am absolutely thrilled and honored as a Californian that they decided to reunite here in California!!!
Damn krist jumping 1:10 like the old times
Yeahhh
I miss it
Kris Novoselic is one of the most underrated musicians of all time.

John McCauley should sing all set list
Shaun from seether should sing with them too
The only real musician, guitar player and singer who should always join the Nirvana reunion is Wes Scantlin of Puddle Of Mudd.
He's always had the best singing style and voice of Kurt Cobain, his guitar playing is good and solid plus Wes Scantlin looks like Kurt Cobain, white man, dirty blonde hair blue eyes, the man is basically Kurt Cobain's soul :)

I think everyone would accept a one off tour with John taking lead as a kinda tribute to Kurt, the music and the fans. For themselves as well, it may be a really good vehicle for some different sense of closure in a way. I’d have no issues layin down money for that show, probably a few shows.

No but seriously I'm so tired with randoms trying to find kurt voice replacement. His voice, even though it was worn out most of the time with touring, was absolutely unique and amazing.
