    • @LaughingInTiny
      @LaughingInTiny Год назад +6

      I concur. I loved when she suggested that. I think it would tie everything together beautifully and then adding just a few more brass/gold accents over time would make it perfect. Gold with the dark blue is so luxurious.

    • @beverlysnow9315
      @beverlysnow9315 Год назад +4

      My only concern with painting the bottom panels a darker color is that, after doing so much work to lighten the dark hallway, a dark color will darken it again.

    Wow! I was wondering how much added work it would have taken for them to have leveled the doors and archways, etc. in years past! I just love it when new technology cuts the work in half! On the subject of the new laser; you have excellent teaching/communication skills Adrian! (On tip of all your other skills). Thank you taking the time to explain it so completely, and in layman’s terms! I appreciate that!
    The curtains are perfect! So are the four hall lamps! Very elegant and tasteful! You have an eye Carol! Trust your judgement on the lower panel! Seeing through the camera’s eye I believe painting the skirt-board the deep blue would be elegant and bring attention to the beautiful floors. However, as you have observed; we don’t see it in real life, but filtered through the camera according to megapixels, etc.
    When it is all finished, I would love to see what it looks like at night with only the lighting in the hall! I would love to see the elegance and drama those lights create! Thank you for sharing!!! Love your Chanel!! ❤

    oooh, a new toy for Adrian. I want one. What a surprise to find the walls, floor and ceiling are so close to square considering it was built nearly 200 years ago. That is a lot of years of settling and shifting plus the years of neglect with openings to the weather. I's say the old girl is remarkably in good shape taking all of that into account.
    What a treat to see curtain hooks of that age still around and in good condition. For me it is no longer a "I remember when" to a "Seeee, that's what I was talking about. I'm not making that up. They really did and do exist and they are a lot better than the plastic junk of today." 😊 Brass might tarnish but plastic yellows and gets brittle & breaks. Curtains/drapes need to be laundered about once a year'. That's when you clean the brass. Plastic won't handle just opening the curtains for more than a few years. OK. Rant over. Carole, guess how happy I am to see those brass hooks? : - )

    Carol, could you be persuaded to re-think the "no puddling" ? I believe you SHOULD have the puddling because it makes the windows look even better!! The curtains are beautiful and you've done such a great job.... One thing.... I wonder if you should have done a blue lining on the curtains...thereby allowing them to look fuller???? The light shining thru them take away some of the "look". Wonderful Job!!!!

    •  Год назад

      Thank you for the suggestion, the curtains will only be pulled at night so the light won't shine through I don't think it's a good idea to have puddling at the front door, as all the dust will blow in and collect on the puddles! So sorry!!

    Carole, why don't you consider adding the dark inky blue fabric behind the drapery panels? That way, you can black-out your hallway if you like. Maybe it's true the light would not come through the figures on the drapes, illuminating them; but, I think the figures would stand out on their own, anyway. Also, I vote for the inky-blue skirting boards idea. That would look dramatically beautiful!

    If you’re going to ‘install’ pullbacks for the curtains in the hall (I think you’re right & you should) then going OTT and putting them in the central circles is the only way to do it.
    But use hooks that are gorgeous on their own behalf’s so when the curtains are closed the hooks look amazing by themselves.

    A possible curtain pull solve that will cost very little. You have bamboo. Cut bamboo to needed length ( use segmented ends. Thinnest end drill a hole and place a ring and attach to curtain ring. Paint bamboo color you desire. Easy-peazy. Of course, you have to dry out the bamboo, but that won't take long.

    I was a little iffy about the color for the sconce shades. I know it's your home and all, and I'm giving you my unsolicited opinion, but please bear with me. I love that inky blue, yet it seemed a little strong against the wall, and then you mentioned the curtains. That amazing fabric is going to look amazing with the sconces and their dark little shades. I'm now eagerly anticipating that reveal!

    I love the curtains, well done.. I would like to suggest putting a blue backing on them so when they are closed the light doesn't come through them and make the curtains look beige and blue instead of white and blue. I think blue panels on the bottom of the walls would tie everything together..

    Cant expect everything is level and square given that the building is so old. As long as its all as even as possible and safe, you just have to compensate. Love the choices of colours as it is so bright. 👍😁😁

    The laser level will come in so handy with the enormous amount of work you have to do. Love the sconces in the hall, they are perfect! I do love your selections for each project from lighting, to paint, to fabrics and furniture, they all come together for a splendid look that is so pleasing and welcoming.

    Curtains are a triumph - amazing attention to detail- fabulous - I don’t think I would have thought about the exact level and then I would have been disappointed when they were up- so another lesson learnt and put in the knowledge box - so thanks x

    Look how bright and clean!!!! If I were to use that inky blue, I'd put it on the ceiling. It would look great with light reflecting off it.

    The wall sconces are perfect and the curtains as well. I can't wait to see the flooring back down. I love the walls painted the lighter color and like the solid better than the busy wallpaper. I am not a fan of painting the panels dark I think it will distract from the lamp shades and curtains. I would rather reserve it for the soft furnishings and accessories. At any rate it is looking spectacular just. like the Salon.
