    Your point of supershoes ruining "normal shoes" is absolutely spot on. What's more, not only normal shoes, but everything that is not cutting edge. When - for instance - Puma deviate nitro elite 2 came out, I really liked it. Then I put them aside, and did not use them for like a year. I revisited them other day and almost felt like a joke after the Cielo X1, NB elite v4 or Puma deviate nitro 3. One of my fav line was the Noosa, but 14 was the last iteration I could use.

      @@henya2409 it's amazing just how far shoes advance in a year. You don't really realise at the time when the new model comes out but then as you mentioned, if you go back and try the old shoe on the differences are very noticeable.

    $300. That is so expensive. How does it compare to the Adidas SL2 at nearly half the price? Or even the Asics Noosa Tri 16? I'd be inclined to get a true 'super' shoe at a small discount rather than this. Too expensive, way too expensive. Thanks for the review. Excellent as always.

      @@teamdreamcatcher4877 There is so much more bounce, and squish in the Balos. It feels more premium overall but I'd actually prefer the uppers in the SL2 and Noosa. Big difference in the geometry of all.

    Nice facts, I've heard it's an experiment from New Balance, first kind with unknown future. Testing shoe:). I do not run, only long walks so 1080 would be probably better for me. Though, I must say, for 1080 V13, go half size up, weird sizing in New Balance lately, even different compared previous gens...

    Is it too soft for a 90kg/1,80m low cadence runner for 5-6min/km?

    • @run-are
      @run-are  14 дней назад +2

      @@philipppuchner1115 Hmmmm, I am not sure... If you were asking about the Pegasus Plus I would say that it's too soft for you because the foam compresses so easily and it would definitely bottom out. But in the Balos, while being really soft it has more guts to it, those foam feels a little denser and more resilient than Zoom X. I haven't bottomed out the Balos at all but I have in the Peg Plus with a higher stack. Have you run in the 1080v13 or have a shoe with Zoom X?

    • @henya2409
      @henya2409 14 дней назад +3

      I think it would work really well for you. It is not just soft, but also responsive, it has a certain poise. Midsole. and upper wise I really like it. Problem is with the very low volume toebox, and in general the shoe is kinda narrow a bit. I would strongly recommend going at least half size up - can not be more precise as I tried the 45, but I could not yet get either a 45,5 or a 46. And fyi: I am 185/92, I used the shoe at 05:30 with my fist runs. For me it's more like a super comfortable and fun daily trainer than a supershoe - it gives me the vibe as if it was the love child of 1080v13 and SC trainer v2.

      No, never seen or felt Nike or NB shoes.
      Here it is more the Asics Area and the Rest is Brooks and maybe Hoka, despite bits of Saucony findable.
      I'M sure there is also Adidas and Nike of course as the big brands, but i feel no bligation to sponsor the big brands + Adidas killed the Five Ten (USA) climbing shoe makers, so i stay away from them if a have a reasonable choice :)

      Also no bottoming out as @run-are said sounds nice.
      Probably a hidden gem the shoe.
      Btw, how does it compare with the Hoka Skyward X, despite this beeing a complete different shoe in terms of structure?

    • @henya2409
      @henya2409 14 дней назад +1

      @@philipppuchner1115 Even though the Skyward is giant, it is not a soft shoe, it is more dense and it propels you forward, I found it best to run at least or faster than 05:30. Needless to say it is very protective, but I would not call it an easy day or recovery shoe. It is more like a muscle car: huge body work, huge engine. I have them and like them, ran 15km straight out of the box, but it is not a comfort shoe from the point of view that it is going to make you work, the plate nicely pushes you forward. It is definitely for heavier runners. One thing though: it is a big shoe, so you just feel sometimes that there is a bit too much shoe on your feet :D All n all, it is a beast soaking up miles. Balos is light, agile, nimble, more pop, more bounce, less speed. Skyward for long runs with a bit more pace, Balos is for daily workouts, easy pace or recovery - for me.
