You hit the nail on the head. Whatever Elvis sings, he reaches into your soul (touched mine in 1971 and has never let go) and that does go back to his gospel roots. Several opera singers in interviews over the years have said his was the voice they admired most or wished they had!

I love Elvis because he makes you feel what he sings. He loved all music including opera. He sang Santa Lucia in Viva Las Vegas and several songs that were opera songs with English lyrics. Beautiful reaction ❤

Love him now and forever. His sultry voice touched our souls. His presence was like no other. 1968 comeback,,, that face, that voice and that smile. Perfection.

Jane H commenting …. This was Elvis’ last filmed concert, but I believe he did another concert a week after this one, & was very unwell. But his voice was at its best in this concert, & he looked happy, knowing how good he was singing. Eight weeks after this concert, he passed, & the world lost it’s brightest star. Your Elvis Reactions are always great. Thank you.

No, he was still in good voice up to June 26th. And, Elvis did a show every day from June 19 to the 26, which of course, wasn't unusual at that point.

Elvis is a voice of the soul and the fact that you mentioned that he could have sang Opera is so true, Pavoratti said that he wanted to sing like him, He could go from the lowest of range and BAM , he is singing to the highest point of any other artist, there is only one Elvis and I just discovered this channel because of Elvis forever and Always TCB, 1935

He was a lyrical baritone with a very versatile style. When he was young his voice had a tenor-like style. At that time when he was more mature, his voice had become darker and heavier.and that happens to many baritones in their mature age, from 40 onwards. Many rock pop singers had that operatic style, for example: Freddie Mercury and Roy Orbison. Elvis's baritone voice is most appreciated, in all its richness, young or mature, when he sings gospel. "His hand in mine," "he touched me" and "in my father's House" are beautiful spiritual songs which you could react.

I always enjoyed your reactions to Elvis.
IMO a beautiful gospel song is CRYING IN THE CHAPEL or RUN ON.
You can get some opera snippets from IT'S NOW OR NEVER or SURRENDER.
I wish you all the best for your channel!

Country song written & recorded by the great Marty Robbins. Elvis liked it so much he did it live, for years. You should really check out some Marty Robbins. edit* Elvis DID sing opera once - he did an English language version of “O Sole Mio” called “It’s Now or Never”.

Your favorite singers would’ve loved to get on stage with Elvis and do duets with him. Can you imagine Whitney Houston and a healthy Elvis Presley? They could do a whole concert together and sell out anywhere in the world easily. the Neville Brothers would’ve played with him. Aretha would’ve played with him. The Supremes would’ve played with him. Michael Jackson would’ve played with him practically every musician would’ve played with him. Mahalia Jackson and Elvis would’ve been the greatest gospel music our ears could’ve ever heard.

Elvis in the 70s. if he could’ve stayed healthy, he would’ve had an amazing 1980s and 1990s filled with world tour after world tour. He would’ve needed to fire his manager, Tom Parker, who was a fraud. His 60s 70s 80s would’ve been filled with the social media world. He is already the the greatest selling music artist of all time. Could you imagine if he had the Internet to help promote himself?!?!?!?

PLUS ...... If it were not for Parker the 68 comeback would have never happened nor the Aloha From Hawaii ..... The rehearsal show the night before or the show itself ...... That over 11/2 Billion [with a {B} ] ....... Watched via satellite ..... I was one of them ...... Stop believing the garbage out there ..... Do research first ...... Elvis recorded exactly 769 songs ...... But most only know 5-7 of them ..... If that ...... BUT HE ALSO ...... Did 31 Movies ...... And I bet you want to say they were bad ...... BUT ..... Guess what ...... Some of those movies...... Elvis is very funny in ...... He had great lines and was a great actor ....... The ones that say they were bad ..... Are just JEALOUS of Elvis and who he is ...... And in all those Movies ....... Elvis was Elvis ..... And you can't get any better than that ..... NOW CAN YOU ..... PLUS ...... Did 2 Documentaries ..... And STILL ...... Did 938 Live Concerts ...... Exactly 700 of them in the seventies ...... And went to Canada three times in 1957 ...... And in that time ....... Radio only played mostly those 5-7 songs of his ..... WHY ...... They wanted to keep Elvis off the radio as much as possible ..... WHY ..... Because Elvis was so much better than anyone else ...... Parker got those Concerts and Movies and the Vegas deals ...... So The Colonel did the world a favor by doing deals that only he could do ..... That kept Elvis in the limelight .... Otherwise mainstream was trying like hell to cut him off ...... As they still do ..... 48 Years after he left the stage ...... Most things you know have been force fed to the world ...... Starting with the Beatles And the music from about the late 80's Early 90's on ..... FOR MONEY ..... But Mainstream could not control Elvis ..... WHY ....... BECAUSE THE COLONEL STOOD IN THE WAY OF THE MAINSTREAM CONTROLLING ELVIS ...... AND WOULD NOT LET ELVIS BE MANIPULATED BY THEM ..... GET - IT ...... GOOD ...... No Brag ...... Just Fact ......

@@bign8580 Parker was a crook. Elvis would’ve done much better without him and would’ve been able to tour all over the world in the 60s and 70s and 80s. He would’ve still been touring around the world and been making amazing music. And Elvis would’ve been the biggest movie star in the history of Hollywood. A respected movie star.

I think he was heavily influenced by Mario Lanza... Regarding the operatic sound. He was really impressed with Lanza. I'm pretty sure he or Tom Jones could have went the way of opera with the proper training
