This is really cool stuff. Ghost notes are something I've done but never really thought about consciously -- because I tend to record in the midi data with a keyboard as often as I sequence it. One other thing that did really help me was to just watch a lot of videos of drummers playing and look at how they move. Then as I'm recording or programming the midi I can sort of picture what a drummer would be physically doing and sort of intuitively work from there to figure out how to program or play what my mind's eye sees. An extra layer of information like that is always a help.
