    As someone from Letcher county his fears are valid part of the reason we are leaving corruption is out of control here. This was a symptom of it. We are leaving because they are getting nervous and dangerous

      @@magdump4456 It was said, I believe in an affidavit, that after he shot the judge he said "They're trying to take my wife and kid from me!". Sounds to me that it's more likely that the judge was trying to help them get away from him. As with most domestic violence situations, the abuser doesn't think they've done anything wrong. In his mind the judge was trying to break up his family.
      Since, it's apparent that he's afraid of his of his own profession (probably because of his own actions as Sheriff), it's not a stretch that he would treat his own family the same.

      Ok. Let's say that the judge did sleep with his daughter. Then, as a law enforcement officer, wouldn't you want to preserve evidence, like the star witness in order to prosecute the alleged criminal?

      Yep look up lance storz mugshot. It’s mainly powerless individuals who do not have financial means to defend themselves. I got a settlement out of the pikeville pd back several years ago for arresting me on DUI without FSTs, PBT, or blood draw. They showed up to court with my check for $133,000, another one that was $67,000 for my lawyer and the officer “resigned” shortly after.
      Thanks to them I was able to purchase my home in 21’ for a total of 235k after closing cost with 20% down, it appraised at 371k this past July😊

      @@omadjourney That was reported as a possibility when the story first broke, so far it seems the most logical in the absence of any evidence. We may never know the truth.
      The Sheriff does seem worried that his fellow officers aren't taking him to jail though, that's troubling.

      Not really, it sounds like he’s shocked and trying to process what’s happening, looking for some reason for it to make sense. Like he doesn’t want to believe that this guy he’s worked with for however long and probably trusted is a cold blooded murderer, he wants to know if there’s a reason for what he did, especially considering the limited details they seemed to have at that moment, with the sheriff allegedly calling his daughter from the judges phone.

      It’s literally the go-to phrase that the majority of criminals use because they’re anxious, don’t want to be arrested, etc. They’ll also complain of chest pain in addition to shortness of breath because they think that if they go to the hospital it’s a “get out of jail free” card. Which is a joke, because they’re still going to be arrested, they’re just delaying the inevitable.

Or Mickey suspected they were in on it- or again, Mickey knew the drill- maybe trying to get recordings of what he wanted “said” for his own defense.     I’m a letcher county native, and knew both Kevin and Mickey pretty well. I grew up around Kevin, and he had always been kinda creepy. I lived a few houses down from Mickey and was always a very upstanding guy to me. There is a lot more to this story than is getting attention. I’m not saying the actions are particularly justified, but if the rumors are true, I understand his reasoning. The corruption in Letcher county is extremely widespread. From not only the people we have in office in town, but local business owners and town big wigs as well. I hope mickey does bring to light a lot of the underlying issues that we have, because this town does need a change.

    I think the sheriff was worried about the judge telling his wife and daughter about his dirty deeds. It seems like the Judge really had the Sheriff worried. Who knows what He was told. Seems like there was some DEEP & Wide-spread corruption, which had the Sheriff Terrified. Who knows what was going on. Im very interested in watching this Trial, but who knows if the Full Truth will ever come out to the Public.

    I'm a supporter of LEO's & appreciate what they do but a high ranking LEO making that statement to other LEO's is very concerning to me. Why would he need to ask that? Does he have reason to believe that there are times when they "aren't fair" to suspects?

      The entire city was under water in 2022. A 1,000 year flood hit the area and devastated the area. Mickey Stines was driving up and down the roads of his community at 2am warning people to evacuate. He also helped three other men rebuild a road to allow EMS access into McRoberts that was isolated due to bridges and crossing being destroyed. We’re lucky to even have the courthouse open for business.
