Yes!! This was epic Luca! Loved how you incorporated blues and jazz reharms into this classical piece. The whole arrangement is so clever, with that big build up in the middle! Your touch is perfect. The energy of the band is awesome. The production of the video is stellar. You really took everything up a notch on this video. From boogie master to classical music re-inventor… Well done!!
How do you know if Bach could have played it like that? I think he could’ve played it very close to like that. But I do agree that he would’ve appreciated the interpretation.
Bach was the most brilliant keyboard player of his time. He was more famous for his (inhuman) skills as a player than as a composer back then. He could do whatever he wanted.
@@PixlyPenguin Yes, except this piece is not by Johann Sebastian Bach but by one of his sons, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Another son, Johann Christian Bach, was also a successful composer. So there ARE other Bachs well worth admiring.
Reminds me of the vocal group "Swingle Singers" in the early '60s...on Phillips vinyl if memory serves me. Bass, Drums, + two men, two women. Worth a listen. Their first album of Bach classics is their best IMO.
One of those moments where you work with background music, and you have to stop what you are doing, because it sounds so good, and you need to see who it is in order to find it again.
I have hope because of The Consouls - they tap into the nostalgia of vgm (for the younger generation not me!) and amplify the jazz roots of much of the original (often 8-bit) tunes and the kids are eating it up while learning a love of jazz
Another one that thought he could improve on Bach... Don't get me wrong, I find these attempts quite enjoyable, specially if I ignore their connection to Bach. (not really, maybe...)
@@edgarvalderrama1143I don’t think either felt they were improving the original work, they just provided their own interpretation. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, when not plagiarized, and this is far from plagiarizing
I love everything about this, just how tight the players felt, the Kit sounded awesome, and the bass, not only that but they way they recorded everything, this is awesome!
Wow!!! Took me ages and ages to figure out how to play it on guitar.... straight.... the variations here are awesome! The cleaness from all 3 is amazing....

La musica ti ringrazia.🙏. Se un giorno farai concerti in Italia cercherò di esserci. Bravissimi tutti .😎👍
Love it! There are some Rachmaninov and Chopin taste in the second half, for me... Shigeru, + your touch, + and the complete sounding together All is good!
Outstanding, and inspiring, and reminds us that music should be learned through improvisation and not in any other way. Creating is the way music was meant to be shared. Thank you Luca.
He almost certainly learned classical repertoire very young before learning jazz, which is how most jazz pianists develop. Need to start young on classical technique for piano. I'm sure there are some teachers who introduce improvisation relatively early, but technique is first.
This gets a big WOW from me, and I'm a rather fussy chap by nature. Very lively, very hip, pretty volcanic, and simply exhilarating all round. C.P.E. Bach would be elated to listen to this. This is a discovery for me. It seems like Jacques Loussier is somehow still with us. Viva la Musica! Greetings from France.
First pianist I've come across where I both LOVE listening to the music, AND feel deeply inspired to learn your compositions. I'm grateful to Spotify for recommending you, and I will be purchasing your sheet music book as soon as I'm able!
Amazing. Your range of dynamics plus the precision and ingenuity of the variations are world-class. The shifts between styles are seamless and done with humor. Very unique trio, as far as I have found. Looking forward to seeing you on tour - I think you’ll be in SF at the Jazz Center in the Fall.
I'm crying. Wonderful. Piano sound is also amazing. 1:41 It reminded me "Stiller Beobachter" by Kristjan Randalu, but more - "The Forgotten Village" by Shai Maestro, I don't know why. Yes, and "Procession" by Joel Lyssarides. This tender sound...
Bravo, Mr. Sestak! In my first year of college, I too, played Bach's Solfeggietto with a jazz trio I formed. I'm loving your style and bravado! Well done! ❤🎹🎶🙍♀️

EXACTLY as Herr Bach wanted it to be played, because he couldn’t. Totally Brilliant in every way! Attractive camera work as well.
How do you know if Bach could have played it like that? I think he could’ve played it very close to like that. But I do agree that he would’ve appreciated the interpretation.
No way Bach would mix the piano so loud and the bass so low
Definitely not! 🤣
Not saying that’s not interesting or not good!
The original by Bach is better.

Right, and also the Modern Jazz Quartet!
Thanks so much for the recommendation!!!
Oh yeah. Now I totally hear it.
Highly recommend Eugene Cicero. He was the GOAT at this game…
I don't think they ever swung Bach's notes. I think their only addition was a syncopated bass line.
This made my day unforgettable. Bach is great in any form.

Bebop tells always a story and the saxophone is the prime tool. I hear no story from Luca Sestac. It´s primitive!
