I really loved Ekko s characterization. While he is aggressive, he is also very kind and emotional. While he is a leader, there are characters around him to remind us that he is still a kid.The kid that lost everything but still never gave up to make Zaun a better place and to protect his people as much as he can.He isnt scared of anyone.He doesnt talk,he acts. The boy who shattered time.
Hard times breed hard people. Ekko is very emotional and kind at heart but he was also forced to survive caught in the middle the fronts of a war between Zaun & Piltover that was yet to start. He had, still has, an connection to the girl powder used to be but the people she and SIlco have killed wern't just 'people' to him, they were his friends. Ekko had to become colder to protect those he could still protect (and himself).
@@DarkHarlequin And he became soft for the first time when he reunited with his big sis Vi. I see a lot of Vi in Ekko
@@ragnarstark4887 Exactly. Which is why the difference in their idealism is so interesting. Both are very similar but all these years while VI was locked aways (and could retain her idea of innocent Powder) Ekko had to fight, survive and experience the realities of what Jinx did.
Throughout all of that episode he truely tries to forgive and still see powder. He really does (and he does hesitate in the end too) but there is also this poiniant moment right before on the bridge, where Ekko realizes in the end he can't just forgive and forget anymore. Too much has happened. And that he would rather stop Jinx than try to redeem her.

One of my top 3 favorite LOL champions to this day ever since he was released and overall as a character indeed he is built up in a truly awesome way.

Not silco though, even if he constantly encouraged her downward spiral and manipulated the shit out of her for his own needs he's totally a top tier perfect dad who did so much good for her mental health.

@@breadman6408 are you stupid? Powder killed 3 of the people closest to her and Vi, basically family members. Of course Vi is gonna be pissed and that slap was justified. Powder didn't intend to kill them, but she did and it broke her, because she knew it was her fault. Stop acting like everyone else is the bad guy and powder is innocent, when in reality there is no true bad guy
The only character in Arcane that is close to the idea of a "hero". Ekko knows the price he has paid and stays realistic about the world around. He is the embodiment of strength of spirit and mind. All the losses and suffering only gave him courage, strength and resolve without breaking him. Look what those did to someone like Jinx - she had to let her past self die, because she could not take the pain. Ekko strives to create a paradise for those in the Underground while Jinx brings nothing but ruin. That is why he is closest to Vander's role there. Not Vi, Ekko.
yeah i 💯 agree on ur take about ekko. However, i think jinx’s trauma and pain runs deeper than ekko’s due to the fact that she saw it happen with her own eyes. Got them killed through her own hands or u cud say creation. Got rejected and left by her own sister. and that burden and trauma, she had to carry those alone till the day she dies. Hence portrayed in the show as the demon following(mylo and clagger). Buttt, it is no excuse for the actions she did and innocent lives she’s taken. What she did was wrong and she shud’ve been like ekko. Which is why i said that i agree with u. However, about the pain they received? I just wanted to point out that out
And they are people saying Silco was a great leader and didnt do nth wrong.Ekko is literally the leader that Zaun needs not Egoist but Altruist.Everything he wants to do is to protect the people from Drugs and make it a better place.Ekko took a lot of things from Vi thats why he has a good heart and always have good intentions.He doesnt talk he acts.They boy who shattered the time
@@cainese2064 Yes, I agree with that point. But I thought Jinx was in denial that she did anything wrong. She thought she helped at first and probably has still not accepted the fact that she killed her friends. Ekko, in lore, accepts his mistakes as far as I remember.
@@alonnie1919 Vi accepts her mistakes aswell she literally blame herself for what happened to Powder but Jinx in other side doesnt accept her mistakes.Jinx need to deal with what she did and to stop blaming Vi for no reason

Ekko is an inspiring character to me.
He's not real, but he makes me want to be a better person.
He is written realistically and is relatable, 10/10 character.

I love the nod to Ekko's powers the first time we see the Firelights emerge from the pipes, right before they attack Silco's shimmer shipment. The gear-clicking sound and how Ekko leans over to the right; it's like the hands of a clock turning backwards.
very compelling character traumatized by losing so many friends and watching one of them be consumed by the things you hate the most, something lots of us can empathise with. This show is truly a masterpiece of characterization, visuals, story development, complex questions, and relatable situations.
I'm a bit conflicted on them cutting Powder and Ekko's development with eachother for time. As much as the Jinx v Ekko fight had me tearing up a bit, it could've had me outright ballin'
Honestly it's like the only L I can give the first season. Granted its something that can still be technically fixed in s2. it's not too far gone to throw in some flashbacks now that ekko has seen a glimpse of powder in jinx when he was convinced she was dead before but it's still crazy how they dropped the ball on something that important. It's almost impressive.

I'm fine with it because they showed it the moment of the fight which i kinda prefer (tho it did not caught me by surprise since i watched enemy)
They added a bunch of new voicelines in Legends of Runeterra for the Arcane characters, with a special one from Ekko to Jinx: "Powder, I... I miss you." So, take that as you will.
they'd do it in S2, S1 was ekko's introduction to be fair

I had no idea who you were until the true damage video dropped, first I'd ever seen of you and YET your enthusiasm for ekko was so heartwarming in that video that not only did I watch it more than once, i found myself IMMEDIATELY thinking of you when I saw him in arcane despite giants being what, like 2 years ago.

on one hand i love ekko's character, and then theres that one part that wonders what would've happened if he didnt tell vi and the others to go raid jace's apartment.

If he didn't tell vi everyone would've died a month or so later when silco perfected shimmer.
Since Vander didn't know he was still alive he wouldn't be prepared to fight shimmer enhanced monsters and silco would've successfully turned him and killed everyone else. Although we lost Vander, benzo, mylo and claggor, that's still better than what would've happened.

My "nobody dies" alt timeline still has everybody die, I think that was near unavoidable, it is what if Ekko found Powder in the rain, not Silco, and they build the Firelights together, basically the other plots all run the same way, and the events of acts 2 and 3 go better because of Powder's mental state. Also the ship, yeah there's that too.

I think they wanted to stay true to the concept of Ekko IMO. it's not how much time u have, but how u use it. Sooo he didn´t get much time like others but when he was on screen. His moments were awesome, not a single second wasted anywhere. Bcs of this Ekko scenes are my the most favourite of all arcane soo far.

To give him credit, Ekko witnessed Silco order Deckard to kill Benzo, the Enforcers, and take Vander away. He was the one that let out Vi so that she could go after Vander.
Imagine you being a little kid - if he's the same age as Powder than he couldn't have been any older than 12yrs - witnessing your mentor (Benzo) being brutally killed, and then all your friends suddenly disappear (Mylo and Claggor died; Powder was taken by Silco and we have no idea how long it took for her to be presented as Jinx; and like Ekko said in an episode, *everyone* thought Vi had been killed too). After a while, Silco starts producing and selling Shimmer - which has severe side-effects - and taking over control of the Lanes.
Yes, Silco's "ultimate goal" was to free his people, but he was not a good man while doing so. He killed people, ordered their deaths if they did not comply/obey to him; basically created a dependence on a drug only he could produce; and then maintained his power by any means necessary.
If Ekko's hatred of Silco for killing his friends and family wasn't enough, seeing Powder as Jinx (and believing that she's brainwashed like pretty much everyone thinks) would've done the trick.
Also, part of Ekko's hate for Jinx is because he sees her has having betrayed them, Silco killed Benzo (his mentor), how could she work for him?
