  • I rode on the cheapest seat of the overnight sleeper train, Sunrise Express, from Osaka to Tokyo. I highly recommend this train as a budget travel between the two cities.
    * Fare(Osaka - Tokyo): 12,400JPY (107.8USD)
    * Quality: Comfortable for the cheapest seat
    * Amenities: Blanket, mini cup
    * Facilites: Shower room, washbasins, drink vending machines, and lounge space
    * How to get the ticket: From ticket vending machines or ticket offices at JR stations

    ソロは入り口の所でしか立てません。それ位に狭いです。(それが良いんだけれども)そして車両自体がモーター車なので振動が結構あります。シングルは基本モーターが無い車両なので部屋が深くまで作れます。そのお陰で部屋の何処でもある程度立てる程の広さは確保されています。「秘密基地感」を欲さない限りシングルの方が宜しいかと。

      そうなんですね。
      私は昔ソロで出雲へ行きました。わからない事が多く、ネットで質問したら電車好きな方々がとても親切にアドバイスを下さって大変参考になりました。今でも感謝していますし、サンライズには親愛のような気持ちがあります。
      私は小柄なのでソロも窮屈には感じませんでしたが、体格に恵まれた男性などはご苦労なさるだろうな…と思いました。(実際そういうアドバイスがあり、実物を見てなるほどと納得しました笑)寝台列車はとても紳士的で素敵な移動手段です。また乗りたいですね。

    私は、大阪から東京まで2回乗ったことがあります。この列車の主目的は大阪より西の地域と東京との輸送なので、大阪からだと少々時間が短過ぎます。充分に寝られません。また、長距離メインなので、東京から乗ると大阪では下車できないのも、利用しづらい理由の一つです。
    過去の夜行急行「銀河」は、特急にすると速すぎるので急行にしていた(わざと時間をかけて走っていた)ようです。

      KCさん、コメントありがとうございます😊
      そうですね、大阪からの乗車時間はたったの6時間半なので忙しないですね😅東京からだと大阪にも泊まって欲しいところで好きが、時間帯的に厳しそう。まあ個人的には引退させないためにもっと皆さんに乗ってほしいです笑
      当時の夜行急行列車とかはあえて特急にせず急行に格下げしていたのは知らなかったです。勉強になりました!

    Does anyone know if this goes the reverse route? From Tokyo to Osaka? I"m planning a trip to Japan in a few weeks and would love to go from Tokyo to Osaka or to Kyoto on an overnight train.
