Thanks so much for this Amara. I just got admitted to do my PHD in Electrical Engineering with a TA position.🎉🎉 This video has calmed my nerves cos for a moment, I kept asking if I could handle the position 😢.. But your video helped alot❤
Congratulations on your admission!!!🎉🎉 Don't even worry about how/if you can handle the TA position. It'll be a learning curve but you'll learn and get a hang of it quickly.
Ive just discovered this channel and im excited. You got yourself a new subscriber. Also,I'm almost paying fee for my Msc chemistry i hope this is not a decision ill regret Amara .I'm afraid of spending my last coin to pay fee and then end up jobless
Hey. I think it’s a very big decision to pay for this degree and I hope you’ve done your research on your career prospects afterwards. You should know that the options available to you would depend on lots of factors such as what field of Chemistry your degree is in, where you live etc. If you haven’t thought this through yet then I suggest taking time out to do that.
Hi! I’m curious, why did you have a lecture as a PhD Student? Do you need to get a certain amount of ects (with exams…?) while doing your PhD research? :)
Did u also have issues with laboratory techniques? Did u have to learn them in ur lab too or u already knew them from Nigeria Cos it feels like i don’t know so many lab techniques in my lab
Hi! I definitely had to learn everything from scratch and I'm still learning. This video might make it seem like I know everything but I don't, it's still a work in progress. Also, I only know the techniques that I need for this stage of my current project. When I progress from one stage to another, I usually learn the techniques required for the new stage. All this to say, be patient with yourself! It's all a learning process 🤗🤗
@@AmaraOsuji Thank you ! I feel a sense of relief now I’m a Masters student here and I know the importance of lab techniques I’d keep learning and take it easy on myself too 😭
@@Arya-cs7kj Heyyy That’s how it is It only gets better with time I recommend watching RUclips videos after reading-up the mechanisms for the techniques u’re interested in.
I miss our lab sessions 😢 it was always fun By the way... no lab coats for your students ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 I enjoyed the vlog as always... I was about to rant that it's friday and no video yet.... 😅😅😅😅
I miss them too! We had some good good times 😄 And no o, no lab coats. I was surprised too but the rule is that they have to wear long sleeves, clothes that cover their legs and covered shoes 🤷🏾♀️ Don’t rant please 😂 I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤
Hi I’m am a college student I love science want be scientist don’t know which but I love chemistry but never took it high school afraid the in as major or class I’m scared not that good or bad at math try teach myself chem back in highschool did good but that was 2019 idk I’m nervous I love biology to but chemistry I’m in love don’t know should I go alot of ppl say it hard crazy hard feel like biochem a call but I’m scared I don’t want fail
Hi. I was in the same boat as you. I graduate highschool in 2019. Never taken a chemistry class, and barely graduated high school math. I even took the dumb kid math class as a senior lmao. 1 year into college I decided I want to be a chemistry major. Having no prior experience in hard maths or hard sciences, I did not know what to expect. I’m telling you this a few years later as I near the end of my associates degree in chemistry. You will have to put a lot of hours outside of class studying up on materials. You will have a lot of other classes that will be just as hard if not harder. It will be a long meticulous process, with a lot of pain and annoyance along the way. But I can tell you , it’s very rewarding and there’s a lot of promise at the end of the tunnel. Not only knowing the science is really cool, and now I’m good at crunching numbers ( math ), but you can do so much with a chemistry degree, and if you go to grad school, you can probably find a job that pays six digits and up. Don’t question yourself, if you want it, get it. But just know it will not be easy, but that’s what makes it worth it.
Hey Amara, I was surprised to see your orgo lab students without lab coats. It was mandatory at my institution. Is there a reason they are not required to wear lab coats? Side comment: I will be starting medical school in Boston this Aug.
I too was surprised initially. Not sure why they weren't required to wear one. I guess the department agreed it was good enough for them to have their arms, legs and feet covered with their own clothing.
Hello Amara, I'm a B. Pharmacy Graudate and I would like to know whether I could do Masters in Chemistry eventually PhD as well. Secondly, Could PhD in Chemistry be the same as Medicinal chemistry, if not what's the Difference? I'm looking forward to your response 😊
