David Rodigan is such a true legend of British radio. He is one of my favourite disc jockeys..he's right up there with the late John Peel and Johnnie Walker.
@@stephensaxby2820 I would like it if he got asked this question from all angles until it gets done , can't be given an O.B.E. and be wasting that right to call in a favour from the bigger heads to get the reggae fm running

You've some people calling this man a culture vulture yet they haven't done anything for Jamaican music-as a black Jamaican,I nominate this man as a honorary Jamaica
@@RennieDJ 100% Correct not only biging up Reggae music he's been loving it from way back! Got a ridiculous amount of dubs & respect from the majority apart from the jealous few Coxone & Trooper & the odd anti white Reggae DJ posters on here! It's all about the music/ love & respect no matter what colour. Lastly I'd love to see a Rodigan on a quiz show on Reggae music. He & Tony Williams got me on to the sweetness in the early 80's Kojak & Captain Sinbad , Chosen few, Alton ellis to name a few.
The music was cut out because the uploader doesn't want anyone to copy the audio. Some of the dub pates that Rodigan has are one of a kind and he doesn't want anyone to illegally copy them.
Haters are spouting rubbish ie Coxone & Trooper! just because Rodi is White! He's a Head Master & would beat most haters in any Reggae history quiz or snippet competition He brought Reggae to a higher level & wouldn't have never heard the music of Alton Eliss,John Holt, Michel Prophet, Captain Sinbad , Don Carlos , Kojak, Tenor Saw Bujo Banton, Dennis Brown , Barrington Levi Beanie man, Scientist, Nutty professor to name just a few! Truth be told he & Tony Williams got me into Reggae Thanks to David Rodigan! Keep the Chunes blasting General.
As a Jamaican you just can’t possibly have the passion for the music like an outsider do, because it’s like you’re a part of the creation and can’t see the true essence of it .
Kinda winds me up these days when millennials refer to Ramjam Rodigan as a culture vulture. Man did so much to promote reggae in this country and whilst he profited he undoubtedly paid it back... Legend.
Thanks for your insight. I thought they would allow special cuts for Sir Rodigan, since he has the copyright, no? Sorry if I dont get it. Very nice storyline though. I was just eager to hear the tunes. Peace@@abiolaowoaje7014
I have read comments here about Rodigan and his contribution to massive acceptance of reggae music. I was honestly surprised when i found out he was white!!!.This was about 30 years ago!! But you have to give it to him, he is widely knowledgeable about the music. Listening to him is like liking to your favorite lecturer in UNI. You have to give him props and dues. He has paid the price in his own way, reggae music or music in general knows no color. my suggestion is all deejay of all genre be like rodigan but knowledge and know your roots and culture. Rodigan is a god no sentiments. You can feel his passion for the music
All the music is cut out! 5 minutes of Rodigan dicussing some amazing dub plate that floored a soundclash audience, he presses play and then it skips. Great video but could it be more frustrating.
Did the Queen honour Marley, Tosh and Livingston. And they should love Jaoca because their ancestors became wealthy enslaving Africans they brought there.
WHAT A LEGEND! It would be really cool if you could get all the copyright clearance to play all his dubplates fully. It would be really cool. Just sayin,.,......
Great DJ still ,went downtown and collect dub and meet people he used his diversity of colour to be greeted amongst Jamaican but carried himself well him jam een
See what you said, you would play music and look out to see if any kids are anyone would be listening we Jamaican don’t do things like that. We don’t care who want to listen. We play our music by ourselves and get into a zone you can never be I will never be.

Thank You to the artist for creating this powerful commentary on the world that is just as relevant today as when it was created all those years ago. That's true art.
Amazing history from Rodigan only matched by the spinless Red Bull coorporation for not playing those tracks so revered by RamJam .. shame on that shitty fizzy drink company
He should have played the original Cut then play clip ov his dubplate After that did no jepordise his cut. Lost intrest in his interview after He cut out his dublate cuts
Why would he do that tho....I would never play any of my dubplates on a platform such as this.....I have a RUclips channel with some music on it but would never dream of uploading any dubplates.
David Rodigan within the reggae music is full of self love, he is also very selfish in teaching and bringing in younger fresh blood into the dj business..
accepting an M.B.E. is a dishonour - you play Rasta music burning fire upon the wickedness of british empire and all the oppressors that work under the british empire and now you've endorsed the Royal family and their evil empire . should let the king Lloydie Coxsonne tell the truth. Rodigan the music is about the message in it and not about the person that plays it . TIME TO FIX UP !!!!
Explain why it was a dishonour , what is Rasta music? You actually believe that artiste in that era didn’t complain about Mr. Coxsonne . Music is universal and many people love it and play their part in spreading and sharing it globally.
