Nuff respect to Barrington Levy. I remember he came to Boston and my friend didn't have our tickets and I argued with her outside the venue. He was sitting in the limo watching us and let us in for free. One love always!!!
river nile bank nya om no, I was invited to the show with my neighbor who said she had tickets and changed what was said when we reached. Not everybody is a thief. I've sung background for artist and never got paid. So, I was not out to rob the next. Trust me I was embarrassed if you were to know me and my family in Boston. Lesson learned. However, I always look out for those who don't have. Google me. One love!!!
Black roses was my absolute favourite and here I come, what a legend, and I was glad for Rodigan bringing reggae to radio back then, great interview :)
He’s a great singer but more importantly a greater human being. I remember being in the studio and he came up to me and gave me advices about the music industry.

I my self became a sound man thanks to you David, back in the Oxford days.. thanks to you I'm a all rounder... studio 1, treasure Iles, Bunny Striker Lee, Lee Scratch Perry.. pluss all 60s 70s 80s English charts.. all on wax... mento and fig music on wax.. It is now much clearer to me that what this visionary "Mr. Levy" was doing back in the 60's and 70's is the foundation of the American Hip Hop & Rap genre. He clearly mixed spoken lyrical content over awesome instruments mixed in with melodious vocals that touched our souls. In Greece we couldn't get enough... It was this flavor that Jamaica descendants brought to Bronx and Queens NYC that kicked off the rap music scene. It seems like 85% of the creators were Caribbean if not Jamaicans in particular. Past and present; Biggy Smalls mother was Jamaican and so many others in the game who must have grown up in homes surrounded by this fantastic melodious vibes... Well done; I love the music; I love black people.
Mr. Barrington Levy. Much love and respect. I'm proud of you. Thanks for putting Jamaica where it is right now. Also, BBC Radio 1Xtra thanks for always bigging up Jamaica.
The great barrington Levy, the canary... tears came to my eyes. Money move, dances are changing, be like a soldier, shine eye girl, moon light lover, collie weed, here I come, on the telephone she hear my voice, shaolin temple, under me sensi and a lots more!!!!

I'm here because I can proudly say I was able to witness this legend once more here in Brussels - only just yesterday, anno 2023 - and he of course has lost nothing of that almighty voice. This is an amazing interview and Barrington seems like such a nice person. The concert was amazing but he let the crowd feel that he was disappointed in us, for not dancing enough and singing a long. It got me disappointed! All the while enjoying his amazing voice. It it weren't for the interuptions and too many Pull up / back on tracks.. This could have been one of my all time favourite concerts.
Always love Barrington Levy. I was at the Grace Jerk Festival, 2017 in New York. Barrington performed. He looked great and sounded excellent, just like his records. Everyone in the audience was singing out loudly with him. I was so happy to see him. I also remember listening to David Rodigan and Barry G's selections in the 80s or 90s. Blessings to you all.
