Great review. I share your opinion about the low riding bow.
I know the first gens. Had a much higher, and flat deck with two raised beads to further aid in deflecting water away from the cockpit.
I wish they still kept that design, but the one complaint the designers caved to was that the boat would not fit in a typical rooftop kayak carrier/rack system due to the unconventional dimensions up front.
This design is closer to a standard profile, but they went way to low with the deck to where it plows mild to moderate waves right over it into the cockpit.
Also, they enlarged the rear cargo area, so that eliminated the possibility of changing the weight center further back to compensate for the deck redesign.
That said, a smaller lighter paddler would probably be fine, us bigger guys.. If you can find the first version somewhere in good shape, I'd personally recommend it if you're doing anything other than lakes.
I still have a hankering to pick one of these up because at the core they are a good boat, but I'm hoping they do some revisions that bring back the qualities larger paddlers enjoyed most about these yaks.

I have this kayak also, it forced me to upgrade to a Native Watercraft FX 13 with pedal drive. This is a carnival ride in wind, it spins too easily and tracks horribly. It's awesome for small pons in calm water and little to no wind, but any thing more that 2 ft and it begins to porpoise even with all the gear in back.

Great video review. I'm looming for a small yak with a higher weight capacity to hunt ducks and do.a.little fishing as well. I like the wideness of the Cockpit area. Looks roomy and easy to get into and out

Stamped for security and coast guard law brother. The sticker idea? Tweaker steals and rips it off.. sure they could grind that vin down too…. But that sets off alarms for people who might buy it….and most druggies aren’t this talented and committed to their thieving! They’ll simply move on to an easier target. And as a former Navy man? That vin seems like overkill, the deep way they applied it? Trust me…I’ve recovered boats in open water…. Some went back to living folks, and some were sadly returned to the friends or family of the deceased…. It’s an important feature to leave in the boat imo….
But you can rest assured? It won’t be known by the general public who owns the boat… so no privacy worries. Stay safe my man! Great video…really well presented.

The first gen model was so much better, especially for taller, and heavier paddlers.
The tweaks they made for convenience made it nothing the first model was.
First model had great primary stability, tracked well, didn't nosedive, or push water, had better leg room, etc.
It seems better suited to paddlers under 5'-5" now.

Also….it’s worth the money to spend on a QUALITY PADDLE BOYS!!! Trust me….former sailor, and avid kayaker….
Don’t cheap out on a paddle. It can save your life, or cost you your life. I’ve seen both scenarios….
Where the bad paddle was broken and the boater died because of it…the woman couldn’t control the yak and went over rocks and was ejected and subsequently drowned. I’ve seen the reverse too…. Where someone only made it to safety, because the paddle was a champion…a solid solid paddle. Expect to pay about 70 bucks minimum, if new…for a good quality collapsible paddle…. It’s not cheap….hated that additional cost. Fixed income retiree here….
But boys? Trust this old tin can Navy sailor? You don’t want to regret it later when that Walmart cheap paddle busts on you…in the middle of nowhere.
    P.s,
That’s where the old saying comes from!
Up the creek without a paddle? Ain’t a good spot to be in…I’ve been there!
Boy do you feel stupid…and helpless. 😂
    Stay safe y’all

I have 3 Bass Pro Kayaks, and the FS10 is the worst. Very unstable, does not track straight. The front has a downward angle and will go under water if you hit a wake. They put the dry storage in front of your left foot. This is a very unsafe kayak. I am going to stick with my H10. Thanks, Rick

Your totally fine….it’s ok up to 400 pounds plus honestly? The height you are? No issue. Don’t let the sticker with the three hundred pound weight limit get you….it’s overkill safe with three hundred pounds in it. I’ve had it loaded closer to 430! Me …a small child on my lap…and my dog! It was low to the water admittedly….but it wasn’t an issue

I got mine and it seems to tilt to the left when paddling. I'm hearing some other people deal with the same problem. It'll also drift to the left when in idle. Is this normal? And, is there anything I can do to alleviate this? Does it have anything to do with the positioning of my seat or the foot rests?
