      @@Bushwacker-mb6hw Some guys are spending way more than they need to on steam setups which are not necessary. You can buy a decent cold water setup for around 6k with all the accessories you need. But that doesn’t include access equipment/scaffold tower, gutter vac, chemical application equipment, tarps, buckets and brooms.😉👍🏼

    Not gonna lie to you, I'm thinking of quiting my job, buy a power wash and start cleaning roofs. Then I remember that I live in Argentina and starting your own business here is a nightmare. Any way, keep the great content.

    I am thinking of having my roof cleaned in the near future but if I was a customer I would ask for my loft space to be inspected for water ingress before and after the work and also want to see all the roof gulleys and down pipes run free of all debri, The worn shown looks to make a worthwhile improvement and worth considering

      We use a very specialist low pressure setup that is gentle on the surface. No risk of water coming in the loft.

    I have have owned both machines and prefer the Briggs , it runs quiter, and smoother under load, easier to start, and I think it has the edge on power too🙂

    Cracking job. If I were to just scrape the moss off, and apply biocide, over time is it likely to clean the roof too? Or would you advise getting a jet wash on it?

      Yes, I will scrape tiles that are more delicate instead of using the pressure washer. The biocide will kill off the remaining algae and the colour will improve over time. It could take up to a year to see the full benefit.👍🏼

    Would highly recommend a flow-sensitive unloader valve from Rutland Pumps. From what I've heard they are much better for the longevity of the machine compared to the trapped-pressure one the machine comes with.

      I've got the evo 21 ltr with the Honda engine. It's about 4 months old and I changed all the oils at 20hrs. I've just had to change the unloader valve on mine as was it playing up. Annoying really for a machine so new.

      @@markharvey6749 With pressure sensitive valves it is really important to check for leaks on the high pressure hoses or nozzle coupler if you have had issues with an unloader, also worth checking your filters are clean as sand can get through and that will cause premature wear too. 👍

    Do you see a muskeloskelatal physical therapist? They do loads of good for my shoulders, and posture. I wfp/ gutter vac all day, and these roof jobs seem brutal on the shoulders. Keep up the great work, this is my favorite channel!

      Thanks! Yes, it’s the angles which are the tough parts. If you can get fairly straight on to the roof the pressure will counter balance the tool nicely.👍🏼

    I didn't catch the max pressure of the new Pressure washer - is it more powerful than the old one? Great transformation. The bone conducting headphones are great - I use them every day, so nice to be able to listen to music or podcasts ;-) and still hear your surroundings. Amazon sell cheap hour meters that you connect via the spark plug lead so you know exactly how many hrs you have done, really helps for knowing when a service is due.

      It’s the same pressure: 2900psi / 200bar. Feels like more though because it’s new and my old one was getting a bit worn out.👍🏼

    Thanks for sharing. I'm trying to find the small disc attachment you used. I've seen them before but haven't been able to find them online. Also, I just watched a separate video "My first time pressure washing" in which the cleaner used pressure and it resulted in "15" holes in the roof lining. Have you ever had a customer tell you the pressure (not softwash) cleaning damaged their tiles. Of course, I would never use the disc on an asphalt roof. Thanks in advance.

    Advise you wear a harness with hooks to scaffolding when working at height and going up and down you could bang your head or feel and fall,

    I’ve seen others with just a spray nozzle attached to the end of the lance but you have a surface cleaner. Is there a preference to what you prefer or do you have to use different ones for different tiles?

      Sounds like it’s probably a turbo nozzle. I think it’s a bit too intense for cleaning a roof really. You can easily cause damage with one of those. With the flat surface cleaner the pressure is split across 2 jets and the surface can be cleaned much more gently and evenly.👍🏼

      Not always completely, but we always treat the roof with biocide after cleaning to kill anything left behind and prevent it growing back.👍🏼

    Great results! What type of tile is that? Is it slate or? Also is there a roof tile you wouldn’t pressure wash? I do roof cleaning as well and worried which tile i should scrape and bio and pressure wash & bio.. mainly I pressure wash and bio 👍🏼 thanks in advance

      This is a concrete tile. Every situation is different. We prefer to pressure wash and bio if possible, but if the roof is very old and delicate or the tiles have a coating we will opt to scrape.👍🏼

      @@aemackintosh ideal thanks for that! I had an issue with pressure washing a Stnthetic slate roof… a few months later it went white? Had to paint it for the customer 😵‍💫, apparently it takes the coating off? Not sure if you’ve come across this before? Even on a normal slate roof that I’ve done I’ve noticed it’s gone slightly whiter.. not as bud but think I’ll scrape n bio any slate roofs in future lol although the one you’ve just done as you said is concrete so if that was me I’d pressure wash that one as well 👌🏼

    Hi.....just a little advice if I may.....I have a property maintenance business the north west & have been doing roof pressure washing as an add on this year.....at the moment I only have a domestic cold washer that's served me well to be honest but I'm now looking to upgrade.....what's your opinion on the hot steam cleaners ,vtuf for example.....worth it or unnecessary.....should I just get a decent cold one......thanks in advance

      The VTUF is not powerful enough in my opinion. Cold water pressure with a chemical treatment is fine for 90% of jobs. Hot water is an unnecessary expense.

      It depends on the roof, they’re all different, but usually between £6-8 per square meter.👍🏼

    Hi Ashley great vid!! Wanted to ask what your thoughts are on man made slate? I’ve been told if I pressure wash it, scrape or bio it then it’s likely to go white? As it’s got a coating on it? And If you scrape it the moss will more then likely pull the coating off etc? I’ve got to is job on tomorrow 🤣 thanks again

      Yeah, they can be tricky. Bear in mind that the coating might have weathered away and the dirt might actually be hiding the fact that this has happened. Probably best to let the customer know that this is the worst case scenario, but hopefully won’t happen.👍🏼

    I have the same machine from Rutland, but it didn’t come with the pressure gauge. Was this a request to be added on or did you fit it yourself.?
    Also, where do you get your hypo from? And what’s the best percentage to look for?

    Hi mate, was looking to buy the evolution pressure washer I saw in one of your videos and now seeing this watertek one.. which one would you recommend if I’m buying one for a new business, want to get something high quality straight away?
    Also, I’m going to start out in my car so are either of these machines too heavy or too big to take in and out of a Vauxhall Astra on a day to day basis?

    Have you brought a pole which you can attach the pressure washer to do roofs then one you can hold sort of like you would a bike for when doing slabs on the floor?

      Yes, you need a carbon fibre pole adapter kit for a high reach setup. It’s a standard flat surface cleaner on the ground.

    How much do you think you need to spend to on kit to get into the business? Currently installing solar panels and done bits of roofing but been thinking about working for myself doing this. What's the bare minimum stuff you need to get started on some tiled roofs? Also do you always use the customers water from an outdoor tap? If there is no outdoor tap what do you do?

      Scraper kit would be the cheapest way to start. Scaffolding is about £1600, presses washer is about £1200, plus pole, hoses and accessories, £1500 at least.

    Great video as usual Ashley and great job! I've got the same pressure washer as your new one, but without the pressure gauge, and in the manual it says to service after the first 50 hours and then every 100 hours after that...did Rutland pumps say 20 hours when new? I got mine from Rutland pumps as well and they haven't mentioned that to me! I'm jealous of the pressure gauge because it's a complete guessing game without it

      Thanks. In most cases the pressure from the tap wouldn’t be enough to keep up with what the machine needs, hence the use of a buffer tank.👍🏼

      Lots of guys use wheelie bins like me, that makes the whole thing totally mobile, but there are plenty of others that prefer to have everything mounted in the van.
