Although not on this list, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is probably one of the games that give Luigi the most character development. The way he goes from the anxious little brother to confident when fighting Bowser is downright epic
Dream Team is so underrated
All of the Mario and Luigi games are underrated
@@wii_is_better8887 yeah and the only Mario & Luigi game I dont like is Bowser's Inside Story DX since that really didnt need to exist
That's true. I never thought of that
Same. It's way more about Luigi than Mario because of the dream world and the giant battles
Luigi’s mansion 3 is straight up one of my favourite games ever just cause of the endless amount of charm that’s injected into every facet of it, not to mention the awesome locations, soundtrack and bosses. It’s my personal number 1, and my favourite game from my favourite video game character.
I'm gonna be real with you, I can't suck up the Director. He just wanted to make a movie, man.
Mine to
@@FabBrigade I accidently sucked him up and immediately quit out to get him back.
I agree. Luigi's Mansion 3 really outdoes the other two in my opinion. I wish it had just slightly more variety in mechanics and things to unlock if anything but besides that such a well done game.
@@presleygilpin5226 I had to suck him up to %100 the game for the golden poltergust… I will never forgive Nintendo for forcing me to do that.
To be honest, I didn’t even know Luigi’s hammer toss existed until now.
Me 2.
@@ethantreadway9478 Me 3.
None of us did, right?
I only knew Nelsonic Watch's games due to Jan Mesalini (or smth)'s video.
Same.
In a way, Luigi is incredibly brave. Sure, he gets scared by everything, but every time he gets scared, it's to the exact same extent. It may seem cowardly that a falling pot scares him, but the fact that an eldritch god would elicit the same reaction is astounding.
He's probably scared of everything because of the scary stuff he has seen since Luigi's Mansion on the CameGube, and in that game he'sprobably scared of everything before meeting the first ghost because the mansion's creepy as hell and his brother's kidnapped there
Eldritch god?
Courage isn’t the absence of fear it’s being afraid but still doing what you’re too. Luigi is probably the character that shows that the most.
@@froogality Cthulu is a notable one
@@Tuxum bro what Cthulhu isn't in luigi's mansion lmao
I know what an eldritch god is stupid I'm just asking what Eldritch god made luigi elicit that reaction that the op is referencing
I’ve always wanted a Paper Luigi game based off of his adventurers in the Thousand Year Door. That would be amazing
Paper Luigi: The Few Minutes Door
Imagine if that’s included in the remake. It probably won’t happen, but it would be hilarious.
10:00 This is kinda what I hope the Mario movie looks like. It stays true to the look of the original characters while polishing up a few details.
Me: Hold up! Let me make popcorn!
hmmmmmmm
I meannnn, it's close
Saw the movie on opening day. It looks better than the video game.
Yeah, definitely looks like this
Am I the only one who generally enjoyed Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon? As a kid I loved it so much and as a teenager, I still love it and regularly play through the story throughout the year.
I personally loved it. It's one of the only games where I actually enjoyed time trials. The third installment was one of the first games I got for my Switch. Definitely gonna spend too much time on it haha
@@andrewbrasfield1104 Same! The third installment is really good but it doesn’t have that awesome feeling that dark moon does but, I still enjoy it.
Same! three is great but there's something special about that one.
@@thomasbreisch589 Said it like a boss.
@@thomasbreisch589 i highly agree with all of you
Nathanial, Polter Kitty is the one that steals the elevator buttons, not Polter Pup, he’s a good boy.
Polter kitty is even more annoying than polter pup was in mansion 2
@@mememan5466
To be fair, Poulter Pup wanted to play and/or be given a home. And even away from Evershade Valley & the Dark Moon, Poulter Pup is a good boy in Luigi's Mansion 3 (Even helping hunt down Poulter Kitty). Poulter Kitty, though, was intentionally being a problem for Luigi and wanted to hurt Luigi. So, there is a reasonable, in-world explanation for why Poulter Kitty is even more annoying than Poulter Pup.
Poulter Pup didn't mean any harm, Poulter Kitty did.
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was one of my childhood favorite games. Getting to play the arcade version when it came out at Dave and Busters was a treat as well, it's a cool machine (it will eat your points though, fair warning)
The neat thing about dark moon is that (spoilers ahead) when you find out about Mario being captured, the d-pad will make Luigi call out for Mario instead of him just saying helllo
EDIT: also at the Dave and busters, they actually have a luigi’s mansion arcade cabinet
i honestly always preferred Dark Moon over the Original. I preferred the silliness of Dark Moon and the story over the original, and I liked how much more fleshed out it felt to me with all the puzzles. I do like the original a lot as well, but I just never got the spooky vibes everyone was saying the original had and it was too short for my liking. At least it was highly replayable. Better bosses too, will just always prefer Dark Moon.
@@alexandergazmen3126 I can respect that number 2 was ok but number 1 and 3 will always be the ones I would go back too it’s just those give the environment more feeling and the character each rub of on the player I can still name all the lm1 boss ghost in order of capture there that memorable
@@GreeniesGameToons yeah of course. i should bring up i liked 3 a lot too but i had so many questions left at the end of the game that i just felt really empty inside. I didn't have the same fulfillment Dark Moon gave me upon beating it. and of course, i'm not saying 1 and 3 are bad games, they just don't really spark as much to me as Dark Moon.
@@alexandergazmen3126 I agree, 3 definitely left me feeling empty inside as well. I lost interest in the middle of the game 😅 The original and dark moon were 100% more fun for me
In summary: the luigi’s mansion series is the best idea anyone’s ever had
Luigi’s mansion 1 and 3 are just flat out amazing games. Also, as someone who played the arcade game, be prepared for intense shaking on the poltergust.
I'm surprised the producers never sued Nintendo for the gameplay being too similar to how Ghostbusters collected ghosts
@@Hergos_ 2 is good but it has a bit too much going against it to consider it amazing imo.
Dark moon has the best multiplayer on all of the 3DS and 3 absolutely failed to capture the joy of it, if you don’t think dark moon is good enough to call amazing play the multiplayer, not having friends to play with isn’t a valid excuse this time because playing with randoms works perfectly fine in this case
Number 2 was my favorite as it was my first luigis mansion
@@Jonasaurus7 Yeah I agree that multiplayer is better overall.

0:58 When I think of Luigi, I think about La Cucaracha.
I really hope lugis mansion 4 returns to its roots with an open world and more creepier design. The atmosphere of the original game is insanely good and is something they should've kept throughout the series
Facts
Luigi's Mansion was never open world
honestly, i was disappointed with how dark moon turned out, but i just chalked it up to being made by a different developer, so i gave it a pass and it turned out alright, mechanics aren't really something you need in a horror game, which is what I'd call the original luigis mansion, whereas the newer more cartoony ones are closer to a spooky game, where it's more silly antics rather than genuine fear of some horrific graveyard shadow that's come to life out of rage.
all in all though, 1 has to be the best, 2 is pretty good, but with 3 I just couldn't stand it, idk maybe the overemphasis on "haha dog" just ruined it for me
Open world overrated.
And who said 3 wasn't creepy? It was actually pretty foreboding.
@user-zw3on4bx2t Well I'd agree if Luigis mansion was open world in the way that has become so overdone today. but it wasn't.
Eh. I'd say the original Was like a goosebumps kind of scary, while 3 is like a SpongeBob Halloween episode kind of scary.
its 2013 and Nintendo release
The Year of Luigi was a special event held in 2013 and continued in 2014 in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Luigi's debut in Mario Bros. which was first released on July 14, 1983. Therefore, released during the event were several games, collectibles, and downloadable content with Luigi as the main focus. The Year of Luigi was originally announced during the February 2013 Nintendo Direct and in early December, Reggie Fils-Aime stated that it would continue into 2014, which was confirmed by Satoru Iwata in the Nintendo Direct on December 18, 2013[2].
As announced by Shigeru Miyamoto on February 18, 2014, the Year of Luigi officially ended on March 18, 2014
and yes this was taken in wiki enjoy
2013 was an awesome year!
Luigi truely deserved it!
I can't believe that was 8 years ago.
For the Luigi's Mansion series, I liked Luigi's Mansion 3 the best. When it comes with the original game, I prefer the 3DS remaster more than the original because of the enhanced graphics.

I think I'm pretty sure of the reason why they released the Luigi's Mansion remake on 3DS. When Nintendo released the original Luigi's Mansion on the GameCube they did want the GameCube to actually have 3d. They're hoping to add this 3D feature to Luigi's Mansion so I think by releasing the remake on the 3DS they in some way realize this since the 3DS has that 3D feature on it.
1:28 Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks Mario is Missing’s plot is hilariously bad?
I think it's funny
The reason why Luigi’s mansion was one of my favourite was just playing the arcade version that made me straight away want to play it. To be honest, I generally think it should’ve been ranked a little higher
“Polterpup constantly stealing floor buttons was also a pain cus it felt like a way to pad out game time”
It’s been a long time since I’ve played mansion 3 but I don’t ever recall that happening
Can confirm that it was Polter Kitty that stole.
Just a script or speech error, that can happen sometimes. But as irritating as it was chasing Polterkitty, it wasn’t a constant thing. It only happened twice.

ive been such a huge fan man. i’ll keep watching your videos. please keep making more, they make my day :)
Dark Moon is my favorite mission based game ever made. The fact that I played it while younger makes it better as i really got deep in the story and felt like i was really a part of it. This game is just the pinnacle of gaming experience.
I love Dark Moon the best. The beautiful snow lodge was awesome to trek through. DM was everything good from LM1 but better. ahhh... Memories....
Same, the music is great too
The game looks super good for 3ds, even better than the actual 3ds remake lol
This is probably biased because it was my first Luigi’s Mansion game, and I developed a HUGE OBSESSION over it over the summer, but Luigi’s Mansion 3 is my personal number 1, as I had an extremely fun time playing it, enough to the point of going out of my way to get all the collectibles and A rank before I even beat the final boss.
Along with that, even when certain floors (like Floor 10) got long an annoying, the anticipation for the next boss always kept me going. Also, each puzzle is just wonderful and every boss has so much charm and personality, some little details even hidden in their fights, for example, the first boss in the game, on floor B1, most players would finish it in less than a minute, but if you stick around, you’ll notice that Steward will hide behind one of the objects, and peek out to look at you before picking up another suitcase.
Also, I’d like to say that the fact that there is an original song for EACH bossfight is amazing, I love when games have separate boss themes for each boss, and since this game has so many, you have to give it to the devs for making so many songs for their bosses. And the soundtrack absolutely slaps, sometimes I’ll just listen to one of the boss themes and have a fun time while I’m doing something, heck, sometimes I’ll even draw some of the bosses, as their designs are quite fun to draw, Steward and Amadeus Wolfgeist being my favorite bosses in the game to draw.
But yeah, I love Luigi’s Mansion 3, and its an absolutely fun experience and the bosses make the game even better, probably the only bosses I didn’t like as much as the others were King Boo (due to it being difficult for me to get the bombs into his mouth, and to pick up the bombs in general), Chambrea, Serpci, and Polterkitty.
I forgot about so many of these Luigi games, thank god for Nathanial unlocking memories 😂
Nathaniel is back! I’m excited for his videos in 2022!
Luigi’s Mansion 3 will always be underrated imo. Sure it’s not the most difficult or open-ended, but the sheer creativity is amazing. Feels like only Nintendo could develop it
Luigi’s Mansion 3 isn’t underrated it’s actually really well received, technically and visually impressive and sold over a million copies.
Idk how you could underrate LM3, most people consider it the best in the series even if they haven’t played the previous games.
Difficult =/= good game
Next Level Games made it, though. And you can tell thanks to the Mario Strikers and Punch Out Wii posters in Paranormal Productions. They did a spectacular job!
Luigi's Mansion 3 is definitely 100% underrated. I should know
Nathaniel congrats on 1 million.
Your content is very enjoyable and unique.

Happy New Years Nathaniel! 🥳
The only problem I have with Luigi's Mansion 3 is the lack of normal ghosts. There's only 7 of them, and the rest are bosses.
If you remember The Year of Luigi, you deserve a veteran's discount.
U are finally back i waited you to upload Merry Christmas ⛄⛄ and a happy new year
The Luigi Games are Amazing! Great Video!
Luigis mansion 3 is actually one of my favorite games of all time
I agree with most of this list, but Luigi’s Mansion 1 being the best is mostly nostalgia in my opinion. I know that the first game has more variety with the normal ghosts, but Luigi’s Mansion 3 has better boss ghosts and is better overall. And I know people say the first game is open, but it kinda isn’t. You go to a room, defeat the ghosts, and go to the next room. It isn’t that much more open than 3. But other than that I think this is a good list.
agreed. LM1 is just too short to really feel like a full game imo. LM3 has better gameplay and environments, cooler bosses, more interesting puzzles, ect.
I love how you use pretty often more unknown music in your Videos. Like at like 6:00 there's the Mario Hoops 3 on 3 Luigis Mansion music which not everyvody knows. Love it👍
Yes Nathaniel is back! I can't wait for your next video, Nathaniel!
The original Luigi’s mansion will forever be not just my favorite Luigi game but one of my favorite games period. I’m also a huge fan of the haunted mansion from Disney. I like ghosts and haunted houses.
The Luigis Mansion Games are definitely the BEST Luigi Games
Luigi’s mansion dark moon was my childhood!! It was amazing!! I understand why you put it here but it’s just so fun to play. (Polterpup was a little annoying at times because it just drew the game out.)
Great list, my favorite is 2 I may be biased since it was the first one I played, but also I loved solving all the puzzles capturing ghosts and bosses, now even though it isn't as open world I still found it to be a great game
Also it has been years since I first played it and I just got back into it

Luigi's Mansion 3 is incredible, the detail in the cutscenes and world is incredible. Easily my favourite of Luigi's games and one of the best games on the Switch imo
The Luigi's Mansion Arcade game was actually my first impression of Luigi's Mansion, and it's what got me in to the series, inspiring me to get Dark Moon.
Now that I've played them all... the original Luigi's Mansion is my favorite
In my opinion Luigi's Mansion 3 is the best Luigi game, it takes the winning formula and improves it by having amazing bosses, setpieces and puzzles.
Welcome back Nathaniel we've missed you for 2 weeks
Probably not the best opinion, but I always loved dark moon just because of how fun I found it when I replayed it. It was also one of the first games I ever got and I non stoped replayed every mission. Luigis mansion 1 and 3 are amazing as well but luigis mansion 3 feels more like a chore to find anything or replay the game. I’m going to be ambitious here and say that Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon is seriously one of my favorite Nintendo games (even though NextLevel made it), I don’t really care about any charm or nostalgia factor, I just thought it was fun. I get why some people don’t like it, but I think it’s up there as one of my favorite Mario universe games.
Something that I related just now: In the Luigi’s Mansion games, to communicate with E-gad you use previous devices as a visible easter egg. The Game Boy in the first Luigi’s Mansion. The original DS in Dark Moon. And even The Virtual Boy in Luigi’s Mansion 3; or as I would like to call it Luigi’s Hotel.
One time I played the Luigi’s mansion arcade game, it was a fun experience ngl
I always HATED that ice boss in dark moon. Unnavoidable hits and you need to be so precise. I mainly hate it cuz it's ALL MOTION CONTROLS! The gamer's nightmare

Finally, something special for Luigi on this channel
I can't wait for Bandy's universe, it's going to be torture waiting 8 months
I know Dark Moon is far from perfect…
But it gave us the Luigi’s Mansion franchise back so I can’t be too hard on it. If Dark Moon didn’t exist, who knows if we ever would have gotten Luigi’s Mansion 3? And who knows? We may get more LM games down the line since Nintendo finally accepts the fact that we love this series.
I think my issue with dark moon is it wanted to go mission based to fit the handheld format but then some of the missions were ridiculously long for a handheld game. Oh and with the exception of king boo the bosses range from really boring to completely un-fun.
In fairness, it’s not like the original game’s bosses were that much better, if at all. Those were pretty straightforward and basic for the most part and the final boss was an outright improvement in DM.
LM3 is the only one in the series that has consistently good bosses, I’d say.
@@CK-iv1lq I can't speak for 3 cause I haven't played it yet but the original's bosses had a lot of personality and charm and they never felt frustrating to fight at least to me.
@@Cakepan_Doughboi Boolossus was incredibly frustrating because of how the Boos he splits up into keep moving away from your vacuum. Getting those last few ones was quite annoying.
But the rest of them weren’t really frustrating. They were just very, very basic for the most part. Nothing quite as egregious as the staircase right from DM but none of them stand out on gameplay alone. As far as the key bosses go, Chauncey was nice enough but a bit repetitive, and Bogmire (though his design was cool) was even more straightforward. He only has one real attack. Boolossus was actually an interesting battle on paper but it could have been a little less obnoxious as I noted. Van Gore was just an enemy gauntlet (so kinda like DM’s clock tower boss but less interesting because it didn’t have the clock hand gimmick), but the final boss was quite solid… just not as good as DM’s.
Of course, there are numerous portrait ghosts throughout the mansion, but I wouldn’t consider many of those actual bosses. Some don’t ever attack you and even when they do, it’s usually just one. Of course, a few of them (namely the fat one, the twins, the toy soldiers, and a handful of others) are actually full-fledged battles, but they don’t make up a majority. The bosses in the original game certainly win out on the charm element and it annoys me to no end that DM didn’t follow up on that, but as actual gameplay experiences, they’re just too straightforward and basic.
Now, DM has its own issues as far as bosses go. The spider boss was good but the manner of defeating it was a little vague at times. The staircase boss was complete garbage and absurdly easy compared to the rest of the mansion; should’ve been a plant or something. The clock boss was just an enemy gauntlet. The ice boss was honestly great conceptually but they could have toned down the difficultly a bit. The knight boss was great, and the final boss even more so. And the minibosses were generally serviceable if not that special (except for the last two Poltergeist bosses).
Luigi is my most favorite mario character and always will be i enjoy watching this.
There's an arcade in my city that has that Luigi's Mansion unit. For the longest time it was out of order, but last time I was there it was finally working and I got to try it. It was really fun and I loved it, Dark Moon is my favorite Mansion game as it was my first (and I still haven't played the first).
I almost thought you said “Wa-Luigi” instead of “While Luigi”
I never understood why people didn’t like Luigis mansion 2. I thought it was an absolute blast and I personally much prefer it’s graphically design than the design of Luigis mansion 1
It's too cartoony compared to LM1 (which was notably more serious and scary), and the mission system makes the mansions less interesting. And the mansions in general aren't as good as the one mansion in LM1 that had a reason for existing beyond being needed for gameplay and felt less like your average Mario level in LM form and more like an actual mansion that people live (or lived) in. It just had way more personality and depth than any of the Dark Moon mansions.
@@espurrseyes42 Too cartoony is really personal I for example love cartoon designs !
The mansion in 1 may have been really realistic and charming but really there wasn't that much to do. 2 and 3 have a lot of differents mechanics and the always changing environment enable to have more interesting gameplays.
As for the missions. Well I didn't find LM1 that much open to be honest. People calling 1 an "open world" are definitly wrong for me. It has nothing to do with games that let you explore the world freely. It is really linear and you really feel that the "roam around freely" thing is just a facade. You still must go from A to Z while passing by B, C, D etc in order.
@@absolea4676
There's plenty to do in the LM1 Mansion. There's like 15 Speedy Spirits and 10 or so Gold Mice, some of which require you to find hidden cheese. There's hidden gems including the plant in Area 2 you need to water in that Area and the next 2 Areas to get the highest value gem in the game. There's a few completely optional bosses you don't have to fight. There's TONS of things to scan that Luigi can comment on as well as some bits of lore ranging from info on the Portrait Ghosts (that sometimes serve as hints) to a piece telling you about the cheese mice. There's a whole Hard Mode for replayability. And speaking of replayability, since the game is so short (you can reasonable beat it in a single night, coincidentally the same amount of time the game takes place in), you can run through it multiple times to try and break you high score or even do a Zero Money Challenge if you're up for that.
LM1 at least has the decency to obscure its linearity by having the path you take be very non-linear. LM1 is like Genwun to 4 PKMN: The overworld looks very open, you wind up cutting a line of mainquesting short to run off elsewhere to continue the mainquest, there's some optional areas you can mess around with, and you can even tackle certain bits of required game out of order. It's no BotW, but it's certainly better than doing mostly on rails missions that barely let you deviate from the main path and explore (which is made counterintuitive by the ranking system). The LM1 mansion FEELS open and explorable, and that's what counts.
@@espurrseyes42 honestly always hated the way the ghost looked in the first game and the mission system I never even really noticed to be that big of a problem
I played LM2 first. While I like it, it's my least favorite due to not having ghost bosses
The Gamecube Luigi’s Mansion is my fav of the Luigi series and one of my favs games ever such an amazing game I grew up with
How could you forget Mario Is Missing for the MS-DOS! Without that version, we would have never gotten the Weegee meme!
"Ranking every dragon type Pokémon"
Am i the only one who actually hears him saying 'Waluigi' at 0:00
Luigi's Mansion 3 is one of the most charming games I ever played. It's absolutely hilarious and is brimming with personality
Great list. Made sense the whole way. Now, it's Yoshi's turn.
I’d love to see you make rankings for the Luigi’s Mansion series
Doesn't he do that in this video?
@@mbii7667 How about something like the boss fights?
I'm gonna be honest I have only played luigi's mansion 1 and 3 and never made decent progress in either I need to get on that. Also will you be doing wario? He was a lot of games.
I'd like to ranked videos on Wario, Kirby, and Sonic. Eventually The Legend of Zelda!
You should defo play through till the end you won’t be disappointed both are tremendous games number 2 is ok
Luigi’s mansion dark moon was my favourite 3Ds game of all time, I’d spend hours at a time searching threw each and every mansion just to catch every ghost.
This video reminded me of that post Nintendo made on the Nintendo switch listing off (and i quote) "the games where Luigi takes the spotlight" and included mario odyssey in the list.
