gosh, when I as a kid I listened to Sweet Child O'Mine so fucking much that my ears melted, and I just can't listen to this song anymore because i'm over-satured for years. Nowadays my music taste changed a bit, now I am more of a (alternative rock/classic rock/prog) kinda guy, but I have to admit, this Sweet Child solo indeed changed my life, I used to love it and deep down inside I still do. Great job, man.

the tornado of souls solo which written by marty friedman go look at his work he's a very technical artist including the solo, but also i know what you mean with the meaning and purpose but people get meaning and purpose from different places. so you seeing "Hotel california" and "since i've been loving you" as meaningful and having purpose other people might get the from bands like megadeth or metallica

My number 1 would probably be Blackened by Metallica. That slightly fast lick after the first 8 bars of the solo (not including build up harmony) is the first fast section I ever learned. It kind of bridged the gap for me between "this is too fast, I don't understand what's going on" to "I can actually hear every separate note exactly as it's played. I can do this!". That was 6 years ago now, but man was I proud of myself for being able to play that :]
Blackened solo is amazing. Probably Kirks best with Unforgiven and The Shortest straw
Shortest Straw is definitely his best, imo. I was blown away the first time I heard it, I couldn't believe that Kirk managed such a ripper

Shit, if we're going to get into Beyond Magnetic then I'd say that Hate Train is Kirk's best work in decades. That shit rips hard as fuck and puts the new album to shame.
