Old school Carolina boys like Bubba are why the ACC has taken this dead end road to tier b football and weaker finances option. Old school Carolina first folks still believe in Basketball first. The ACC under Gene Corrigan took a football centric tack but that changed back under Swofford to an all things North Carolina centric world. All tournaments returned to North Carolina, football officiating got worse, the ESPN tv contract to save a North Carolina based broadcast partner. It’s time to leave this Carolina conference for one with national exposure in mind. You can stay with the sinking ship Bubba, FSU and Clemson are outta the ACC!

Because Carolina still thinks they run the conference. They are #4 at best and that's only because they bring in so much with their basketball program. Football brings the money and FSU and Clemson and probably Miami bring more revenue on the football side than Carolina and Duke do with their basketball programs. ACC is going to be left behind to die because of that attitude. I like Carolina and Duke on the basketball side, but it's going to be left without funding if they don't right the ship.

So, there is dissension within the ranks in Chapel Hill. Reading between the lines, it's clear that a majority of the board are unhappy with the ACC. When SMU, Cal and Stanford were invited to join the conference, the UNC board released a written statement that clearly stated their unhappiness with the decision. So, it is probably all too obvious that the powers at Carolina are divided over what they should do. But I'd bet at the end of they day they'll realize that they simply cannot afford to be behind the other power conferences revenue. It's just not acceptable. Nor should it be. There will be a mass exodus from the ACC if FSU and Clemson are successful in their lawsuits. And if schools like UNC want a place at the big boy table they won't be able to wait too long to make a move. So, I'd bet all this will play out much faster than a lot of people expect.

UNC might get a full share in the SEC, especially if ESPN doesn't have to pay the ACC media rights. The B1G is different, they have an escalation clause in the current media deal, but it's only for Notre Dame, no other schools are named. That means the Conference would see if Fox is willing to give more money, that's doubtful for two reasons
#1 Fox already has plenty of B1G games, do they really want to squeeze in another 1-2 games each Saturday?
#2 Fox made it well known after bumping up the media deal to add Wa/Or to half shares, that they were done till 2030, when the next media deal is.
If Fox says no thanks, then they can try CBS, NBC, though I never hear about them adding anything to get games, maybe since they aren't a dedicated sports channels, they have limited windows, plus NBC also has Notre Dame football. Maybe Apple TV, but that wouldn't be much money, maybe enough for a half share till 2030?

@@DaninVa-gt9nj I get what you are saying. The good thing about the "New SEC" is that it is full of power schools that will be able to counterbalance each other. With schools like Texas, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M in the league, there is not any way that any of them would be able to completely dominate the operation of a conference the way they might have in the past. Add UNC, UVA, and FSU into the mix and that dynamic just gets even stronger. The SEC would be a conference of mostly true peer institutions. They will all be forced to actually work together for the good of the entire conference because none of them could bully the rest of the conference into doing what they want. If Texas or UNC come into the conference and try to boss everyone else around the other schools would just tell them to go kick rocks.

@@markraymond7667 Yeah, read that Texas used to bully the B12 but as you posted that will not work in the SEC as they are just another member(altho a rich powerful one). Looking forward to seeing Texas play against real competition which will just improve their athletic dept.
Note: Read about when Texas was "approached" by the SEC back when it added Ark and USC and a sports writer who was being uppity and thought Texas belonged in the B10 wrote that Texas would NEVER join the SEC. OK. Also read that Ok and Ok State were a package deal. OK again.😊

Where is this guy Bubba coming from??? Is he paying attention to what's going on? Is he ok with UNC football continuing to be average at best despite expectations? He must be, because that's what they will continue to be with the financial disparity they are facing. UNC needs to wake up... it's not personal, FSU and Clemson just want to continue to complete on a national level, which will be impossible with the financial disparity around the corner.

Good football isn't Purdue or Vandy's role in their conferences. They're there to eat losses, and spend the money to be good at other stuff. Keeps the conference balanced and advancing in all arenas. UNC would serve a similar role with better football some years. If UNC wants to focus on football.....then the B12 is where they're heading cause the B1G/SEC pecking orders are already set with slots open for FSU, ND, Clemson and Miami.
