      @@ElPincheDruk of course, there's some really solid info in this video. He always makes real informative and helpful content.
      But I'm also quite certain that if anyone in his guild noticed him randomly clicking a lock portal (and I bet they did, players at that level catch a lot more stuff than you'd think and there were 19 other pairs of eyes to notice), the jokes would have started flying.

    When I did some raid leading, there were several high dps I turned down because they didn't show any initiative to deal with mechanics. Taking lower dps that sacrificed damage to run into nowhere to soak shit helped progression waaaaay more.

    Not gonna lie, I watch this video from time to time because it genuinely helped me to get better at handling stressful raiding/m+ situations. My thought pattern changed from "OH MY GOD WHAT DO I DO NOW OH FCK I'M DEAD AGH" to "So this is happening. I am very aware of my low hp and the horrible position I'm in if I don't do something right now." That "I am very aware of the situation" just helped me learn to stay calm in combat and I honestly really appreciate that ☆

    I joined my current guild on cenarius in legion. This was also my first mythic experience. I was supposed to go with them to a heroic raid before, but that didn't happen for some reason I can't remember any more. So my first mythic experience was the hardest boss of the tier with a guild I had never played with before. Lovely circumstances.
    I was terrified that any mistake would mean a swift end to my trial. It went ok. I did alright personally, but as expected was absolutely terrible at handling the vines mechanic. Looking back, the guys were reasonable of course, and wouldn't have kicked me even if it went badly. Nobody expects everything to go perfectly first time, especially on the first mythic experience. Doesn't stop this from being really nerve-wrecking.

      Time basically, you want to down the most bosses, if each save/day you have a trail then it's about 2 minutes on each boss that you have to explain the mechanic, that translates into at least 1 less kill. And if you take at a certain level that time could be for farming or m+ if you finish early.

    I may be wrong about this but i think the "bait" is just for the player targeted with wormhole generator(teleports whole raid to target) then blast off(boss leap) goes onto a random player which will be where the wormhole target is since the whole raid will be on them now. Which is then immediately followed by a buster cannon. So you only bait the blast off if you get targeted with wormhole, but everyone needs to then dodge buster cannon.

    one of my trials was mid-progress mythic mannoroth and archimonde. it's much different trialing in progress than cleared content.
    if it was like that for most trials then there would probably be a lot more confident players because they can see that other people aren't always performing 100% perfect against bosses. however that being said it is somewhat needed for guilds to trial on farm bosses for various reasons.
    how you react to an environment such as the guild itself, the fights, the comp, and if you've done it or not already on those characters can tell a lot of a player and their skill/aim.

    here's a scenario for you:
    my old guild fell apart over christmas after years due to roster problems and our inability to clear mythic due to a huge skill gap between best and worst in the guild due to needing people to fill spots, so as raid leader and officer of this former guild i look for a new guild, i join a guild on the same realm as me with raid days that suit my work schedule, i told them that i was main tank i had maybe swapped to a dps spec a handful of times only throughout all of uldir, so all my gear was set up for tanking and my dps gear was pretty terrible, they understood and still took me on a dps trial.
    here's the problem: they were comparing me to another dps of the same class/spec from their roster who was fully decked out with bis azerite traits, with a perfect set of dps trinkets (something i didn't have at all), so after 2 weeks of raids i was 'sat' 4 raids out of 6 total (so only got invited to 2 raids), obviously while i was under geared compared to some of them, and had no dps traits due to being main tank and having no dps trinkets, so following 3 weeks i get invited to only around a third of all raids on the calendar, some of those raids i had to tank so not even performing the role i was recruited for, and after voicing my opinion i found out that due to being vocal about bad decisions (former raid leader self taking over) and the leadership didn't like that so i was 'failed' my trial because i wasn't anywhere close to the other guy with the significantly better gear setup compared to me, and i was too negative for the team when voicing my opinion.
    these guilds are all over the place on alliance side due to having too few good places to go as i have personally found out myself through needing to find a new guild for the first time in like 8/9 years.

    To be fair just taking the more simple example of the roots at the start, its such a dick move to not just tell the new guy who you just told to handle the roots "dks are going to pull adds into the middle, after that you need to mass root the first one". Even if hewasnt such a newborn at the tinker fight, maybe his previous guild used another strat, who knows. It takes 5 fcking seconds, why would you not just make him clear to him?

    • @WondderWaffel
      @WondderWaffel 5 лет назад

      They got 3 DKs, when you only need 2 for this fight, so it shouldn't be a big issue that needs backup. When we did the kill we only had 2 DKs in and only had our shammys on a thunderstorm backup duty for 1 set of bots since one of the DKs had to tank the boss when 1 set spawned. I also think priest's shining force works on the bots, so they got plenty of backup if shit goes completely bonkers and a bot is stuck in one of the camps. But generally with 3 dks, they won't ever need any backup whatsoever.

    Personally the trials I remember or ask my RL too keep around are people who talk while raiding (this doesnt have to be just chit chat, it could be tips or tricks for strategy or asking how to do something). People that stay alive and dont fuck mechanics (high dps is a good thing but not everything cause gear will fix that in most cases). People that try to help out by taking responsibility for shit ( this could be from dispelling to clearing bombs on jade fire). Trials that know their class and try to use their utility for a better and easier kill ( it might be a farm boss but an easier and faster kill will be recognized). Lastly trials that do something clutch (like off healing that tank when healers are oom, as a healer I will see that, to picking up roles that belonged to people that died). As a trial u just got to show what u can bring to the table, and every little thing does count in my books. ALSO DONT BE A DICK/AGRO DUDE that rages in coms. I'm my books talking about negativity over coms is a huge con. That might be as little as a deep sigh, to telling people how to improve when we all can tell u arnt pulling ur weight ( had a trial that would say to the raid members on how to do their rotation better while having a 5 ilvl orgimar clock equipped and using azerite traits of another spec cause it's expensive to redo traits).

      Some times the RL wont remember all the tactics for the fight. Only the major ones, for example the positioning of range. The RL might not be range and forget where exactly the camera angles are best. Also there are RL that are bad at communication and u got to figure shit out on the spot especially on a farm fight. Preach is also highlighting the things u can do as a trial to get a roster spot. Like self healing, personal responsibilities and positioning.

    • @Katares
      @Katares 5 лет назад

      If someone leaves their guild to progress they are trying to take the next step in raiding and maybe also become better at the game. Especially if you play on a higher level than the rest of your guild and want to find players who share your mentality. It's a better option than becoming frustrated with your current guild and maybe even lash out at your fellow raiders in an elitist outburst because they are not "on your level". No mythic raider started in a top mythic guild and everyone who wanted to achieve this had to part ways with old guildmates one time or another in order to become a more serious raider.
      A self aware guild understands this and wishes you good luck on your journey. A spiteful, pitiful guild will start questioning your loyalty.
      It's not vanilla anymore, where you leaving meant that an entire month worth of loot drops are gone from the guild. And even then, you joining a guild doesn't mean you sell your soul to them. Of course there are ways to be an asshole and to abuse a guild before leaving, but in general that's not what happens. Just don't be a dick about it and tell them beforehand so they can try to replace you in time.
      You are not bound to your guild or your raiding team. You are not forced to stay in the same guild for years. It's not disloyal to strife for higher goals while your guild is content with settling for less. Or would you call someone who leaves his local sports team to play at a national level disloyal too?

    Get new person into raid. Know they are new person. Don't bother to run through strategy so they at least have a chance of knowing what they're doing.
    Erm no: that's extraordinarily bad raid leading. Obviously it would be a run through of specific points, not the whole fight mechanics. However you have this backwards. Trials shouldn't have to ask this sort of thing. Trials should automatically be told this sort of thing. To not tell them is spectacularly incompetent raid leadership.

      1. the trial is not putting the same effort into that bosskill as all the other guys. He is basically being boostet for "free". So he doesnt deserve anything. You dont need all 20 men to kill farmbosses.
      2. Trials get loot that nobody else needs and with every boss dropping like 5 items and hoping for titanforges almost any loot after 2-3 kills isnt needed anymore.
      3. Why would you give a trial loot that somebody from your steady roster needs? You dont know yet if that trial is suitable for your guild and any loot would potentially wasted on him.
      4. trial periods are like 2-4 weeks. I think you can manage yourself with 4 weeks without loot espacially with mithic+ around.

    75% of the points you addressed could've been solved simply by looking at a log replay - would've showed you were to stand, when to bait, where to go with what markers, where bots are gripped to, when to root, everything. An additional 20% could've been solved by watching any video at all before going into this fight - what your guild is doing here isn't special, everyone is doing that, you would've found out about the awkward camera situation, about the robot handling, about the bomb drop locations, about the bait, the knockup/sheep/lifegrip situation everything.The only thing you had to ask was your role in the root rotation.
    This video gives a terrible impression about just going in and winging it, figuring out shit on the fly and just naturally adapting to it - which is a great skill to have if you can just do that. But that is just a terrible advice to give to players who are trying to make it through their trial phase. Just open a log, watch the replay for like 5 minutes and you can avoid half of the pitfalls Preach is mentioning in this vid, many of which stem from his seeming unwillingness to prepare for the fights (which, again, can work if you're good at the game but is a terrible advice to give to people who are generally not that good or don't have 15 years of experience under their belt).

    • @MrJayza89
      @MrJayza89 5 лет назад +2

      Mr Peter Parker the problem with the replay feature is that it won't show you everything as well as it can in game, it won't show you the camera issue, it won't show you the addons being used and it won't give you a good understanding of the timing of the fight. For position and a few extra bits of information it's definitely helpful but it will never paint the full picture. As for watching a video before the fight again it won't really do much since one you are actually within the fight you won't know the timing of abilities and events that well.
      Other than that the video did a good job at showcasing what to do if something goes wrong or you become lost as to what's going on.

    • @MrOPD
      @MrOPD 5 лет назад +1

      @@MrJayza89 That's why you also watch literally any kill video after or before you watch the replay. And you also read a guide beforehand so you know what the fight actually does (unlike Preach who doesn't know about the boss TP knockup sheep whatever thing).
      You obviously will not be able to play the fight perfectly the first time you're there, but Preach gives the impression of literally doing 0 prep and just reacting to everything - which again is a horrible advice to give to anyone who's not raiding at like world#100.
      Prep for bosses you haven't seen yet. Then prep some more. And after that prep some more. Don't just go in there and wing it because log replays don't show you addons used so they're basically pointless ~~~

    20:26 why didnt you just use your Mass entanglement? Its instant cast, and the CD is the same ad the duration, so there was 0 reason to use Entangling Roots. In my opinion, that wouldve actually been a negative in judging a trial, as it shows a lack of class knowledge

    If you havent played a fight with the guild or at all for that matter, you should feel responsible to go to a person of your role / spec from your guild and talk the fight/s over to get as much information as you can beforehand. Watching a video ahead of time and making some notes you can ask about also helps. That will leave a good impression by itself because so little trials are doing that in the first place. If there is no one willing to explain the fights to you, you are probably in the wrong guild anyway. But dont make the mistake and wait for any of the raiders to come to YOU and tell you stuff. Take the initiative.

      Before each boss I also quickly go through basics.
      "Nuke -hide with debuff-cc adds-interrupt X-dispell Y".
      It takes NO time to do...
      If I have anyone on special stuff likw mike here I also say "mike cc add when in mid"
      Done.
      This entire "I am too "leet" to explain tactics" is just ridiculous...
      The attitude bothers me a lot, its a bully attitude of people who have a bad view of things and the psychopath gene...
      If you are a team - you work as a team.
      You help eachother and make sure everyone knows and is ok.
      If you have a newbie with you - you dont point and laugh at him/her...
      You see if he/she asks things first - then fill in if necessary.
      You can judge if someone is a good addition to the team on their personality clicking with the rest, tactics and skill can be taught -- personalities cant.

      A like can be (but isn't always) counted immediately upon clicking the button, which you can do before even watching the video. A view, however, isn't counted unless you've actually watched a significant portion of the video; views aren't +1 as soon as the video begins loading. So if you have more people hit Like than sit through the whole video early on after upload, you get a situation where number of likes > number of recorded views.
