Brian Daboll has been complementing the veterans cohesion and communication on the O-line all offseason, He seems really encouraged. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re a top 15 unit on the O line
For real I don’t think it’s that crazy… the raiders oline were ranked top 10 last year we are returning the right side and Runyan was graded better than there left guard. Obviously Andrew Thomas was even at worse or better than Kolton Miller. That just leaves their center and our center which is the only position that was worse on paper. Hopefully JMS improves

Jared Goff has had a QB rating at 100 4x of his 7 seasons. Hes been to the Super Bowl and and NFC championship with 2 separate teams, therefore 2 separate supporting cast/coaches/play callers....so Jared Goff is a massive reason why his teams are successful.
+ Detroit has had a top 5 offense last 2 years. Probably top 3. I can't imagine a scenario where the Giants come close to that even as an outlier scenario.
Detroit offense is the definition of elite.
He was also 0-10 a few year ago.Teams win games Qbs win when they have pieces around them.

This appears to be the best O line of Daniel Jones career. Personally, I have never lost faith that Jones can be an elite QB in this league. If our line is adequate I'll find out if I was right or wrong. I will say again, nobody, not Brady not Montana could have won we the o lines we've had. The most dangerous job in the world was being behind center for The NY Giants last year especially early last year, but the past 10 years it has pretty much sucked. If it holds up this year we'll finally know who Jones is. I do think he'll have to adjust his clock because it came down to first option or run for your life. Barring injury up front I think Jones has the best year of his career. Loved seeing some of those pockets from the first team in preseason.
Thanks for saying what I've been saying that offensive lines matter and the one we had last year was historically bad. If DJ has time he CAN pick defenses apart. That's not conjecture we have seen him do that.

You have zero idea what you’re watching then…Jones doesn’t have an elite bone in his body. Elite QBs don’t look like this behind terrible lines. He’s not a starting QB, let alone elite. He wasn’t good in HS, he wasn’t good at Duke, he was wildly overdrafted, and he hasn’t been good in the nfl. Using Giant incompetence as cover for Jones incompetence is standard practice for the deluded fan unfortunately. BTW Schoen and Daboll desperately want to move off him.
@33moneyball u have no idea. Give them the worst o line in history and see how any of them do. Maybe they make some plays but elite they would not be. Mahomes in super bowl look elite when his line failed him against tampa? Montana had the best of everything including the best defense. They make a play here n there but they wouldn't be able to do 3 quarters of the numbers they were able to put up. If that was yhe case why left tackle so important then? U protect ur qb especially if he that great. It's just stupid to talk about one thing sucks and not admit other parts sucked around him. The team sucks. Trying to build it up which hopefully I feel they made improvements.

EXCELLENT segment, guys. Focused, thorough breakdown. If your objective was to get me mucho hyped to see our new, improved offense starting this Sunday-mission accomplished. Looking forward to your prognosis of the defense, which even all the Giants bashers in the sports media seem to (begrudgingly) acknowledge should be impressive this season.
we'll be derailed by the same thing that has plagued this team since 2012 - INJURIES. People say they are shocked the Giants won 6. They should have won 9. Jets, Bills and Rams were dubs that they should have won. So they werent as bad as it seemed. But they were assaulted by injuries from the first drive of the first game! Im not saying Jones is great but they won games wtih Devito and Taylor only AFTER they started to get healthy. I give them those extra 3 wins with Jones out there. Tyrod had 1 fn TD pass in those 3 games, he had EIGHT FN YARDS in the Jets game! If they can keep the lines healthy they can compete because Daboll is an amazing coach, what he has done the last 2 years with scraps is incredible. He deserved consideration for coach of the year when you take everything into account AND his D coordinator in open revolt. Keep up the great work and go Giants!

If teams stay in two high safeties to stop deep throws to Nabers and Hyatt/Slaton, what plays can the Giants use against this defense? Tracy in the flats? Four verticals?
Had Slayton played 17 full games in 2022 instead of only starting 12 and playing a few snaps Game 4 and the Davos Webb game he would have had 1000 yards.Another aspect of Jones great accuracy that year.

I think Daniel Jones actually processes super quickly but the abuse he’s had from the o line has affected him. It’s natural. You could see it happen to Eli too. Hopefully this season he will be able to trust his o line more and be able to process the way he can

If the OL holds up and is functional, Jones will need to reset his internal clock and realize he'll have more time to throw than he EVER has before -- AND he has better and more trustworthy and explosive receivers than he's ever had before. Hopefully, with Daboll himself in Jones' ear calling plays, Daboll will just tell him to be aggressive, trust your guys (which he never really could before) and just "let it rip." That -- coming from the horse's mouth -- from Daboll directly (rather than from Kafka) should carry more weight, and give DJ tacit permission to be more aggressive.

DJ was as pathetic against Texan's starters as Dan's poka dot yellow shirt. DJ was not able to make adjustment to get ball out quickly last year. CBs r going to be spying DJ to jump short passes. Hope DJ can show things he has only showed flashes of. Giants aren't favored at home against Darnold. Hard to be optimistic.

So many of the prognostications are focused on variance with jones / oline naturally. The one thing we have to accept is that this team’s success is very predicated on a lot of first and second year players contributing. And we haven’t exactly built an infrastructure where young players have established vets in their position groups to look up to. It’s going to take time. This year is really about establishing some key guys for the future.

Facts people gloss over that receiving squad we had that year and DJ made them look really good. Not all pros but made our passing game effecient
DJ didn't make Richie james look good, Kafka did. James only receptions were quick pick(rub) plays where wr whose defender is picked is the only read. Once Robinson came back and Robinson was recipient of the picks, James had no receptions.

I love the fact that I can get all riled up about the Giants, in anticipation for the start of the season, and sleep through the night soundly. Pile on the angst from the US elections, the Ukraine war, fighting with friends and family, and all the other shit that hits the fan daily. I’m pleased that I can shut my eyes at night and drift quickly into La La land. This shit can destroy your circulatory system, if you hold onto it. But thank you guys for stirring up the juices.
