- Not a whole lot of what I wanted on youtube, which was this, and female only shanties. Decided to make my own; and share it. I used some pics I took in photo mode, they don't necessarily fit the theme of the songs. :)

4 - Song to Bacchus is my favorite. Every time it comes on, I feel a smile coming on. Doubly so when you realize the lyrics is literally just some asking guy asking a child to bring him a cup of wine over and over again.

I really like the way how the men and women are put together. It's like having my crew mixed both male and female.
When I saw this video I immediately clicked, thinking it would be great to hear Poseidon God of the Sea with both voices. Oh. My. Zeus. Calling it great would be doing it a terrible injustice. The way the voices meld together perfectly at 4:03 and the end send shivers down my spine every single time. LOVE IT! Thank you for doing this.

Poseidon God of the Seas starts slow, but quickly becomes the best chant imo.
This is gorgeous. I only liked a handful of shanties in Black Flag, and don't remember much from Rogue, but I love them ALL in Odyssey! Also, your skills in photomode are fantastic!
Believe it or not, it actually took some time for the Greek shanties to grow on me! I was so used to the English shanties in Black Flag. (I also forgot the Rogue shanties.) I was like "What the hell is this?" Then, listening to them more on the high seas, I started to love them just as much. Thank you for complementing my photomode skills! I was wondering if anyone would say anything about the pictures :D

I'd say Rogues shanties were forgettable mostly because a lot of them were brought over from black flag, but then again, I get down to some "Donkey Ridin'"

Thank you for combining the male and female voices for Bacchus Teaches me to Dance (as well as all the other songs). I love both versions individually, but the combined voices are freaking amazing. Wish that it was like that in the game.

I never thought I would like sea shanties after the ones in Black Flag - amazing shanties, I must say.
But the ones in Odyssey are great and combining male and female versions was a marvelous idea and resulted in a masterpiece, you rock🤘🏻
My favourites are "Poseidon, God of the Seas", "The Black Earth Drinks", "Song for a Young Girl", Ares God of War".
Have these catchy tunes churning through my brain after I've stopped playing a session... The harmony of the combined male and female voices is lovely: I think it adds a certain depth.

It's amazing how just by singing, it makes the actual music feel more alive. No instruments needed..

Funnily enough it’s a real poetry work done by Archilochus. It narrates the story of how during the invasion of his Island colony by some Thracian tribe (the Saii) he decided to abandon his shield to save himself. The song literally says “fuck it I can get a new one”
@@michelemaggioni3751 But is it the complete real version? I read that the shanties are inspired by real ancient free poems but the way they are sung and structured in the game are not how the real ones were sung and written.
@@FalandraAoC some parts are the same as I remember some of the old poem. Still I believe this has been adapted for modern Greek so some artistic liberties may have been undertook to make it “singable”. I hope Polymathy makes a video on it one day

My crew started singing a song at english randomly. Been playing the game for 200hours + and this is the first time.
It was something about Periklies and they sang we pray to Athena not to seal our faith or something. I filmed it aswell. Amazing it was. Cant find any other uploaded videos about the song Ive heard. Let me know if you guys have heard this while playing. Happened right after Periklies Symposium in Athens. (Im on New Game +)

@@kv_5_gtpa657 I've heard 8 different songs now, no I have the male crew, Spartans Polemarchs. They sing about Leonidas, Athena etc. I dont know if it's different from crew to crew when it comes to the songs they are singing but I believe it's when you're close to Athens that they sing about Athena at least. It's Awesome!

After playing for 200+ hours, I would have liked to see more variety in the shanties. Only 10 songs? And I thought Black flag had like 20 or 30 of them.
