This superiority comes from torque which vtec provides in a broad rpm band. Bcoz vtec has variabli camshaft profile which extends lift time of profile at higher rpms. Thats why first tsi has the advantage at the lower rpm but then vtec boosts later on when both engines come across the higher rpms and vtec wins. Also vtec can generate higher rpm just bcoz of variable camshaft profile via providing a higher feed to the cylindres.

Okay let's put it up against a tuned accord 2.0t at it's limits like this civic...400-500whp bye bye
I thought that race would be much closer after seeing the initial specs of both cars. People criticize CVTs but I liked Honda's. The prettier car won!
That Honda runs good however a CVT still suxx.. The same feel as driving a golf cart.
For real? Civics are the opposite of pretty. Good lord. It's not even close in the looks department.
Come on that gen civic is absolutely hideous and the mods make it worse...beautiful golf though
That Civic kicks ass but the trans won't last long. Tuned 1.5T Accords nuke their transmissions often so this'll probably follow suit. Still, fuck it. LOL
Actually, they purposely tuned it to keep the torque at 240lb/ft because that is Honda's safe margin. It will last as long as anything else with proper maintenance... but a steady diet of racing street cars is hard on any components. This particular CVT is Honda's second generation which is designed with more rings in the packs and handles 17% more torque than the automatic variant in this class.

Lolz @ the mic waiting for the golf
the civic literally just drop the mic with that burn of the golf.
The Golf is a beauty with those wheels. The Civic's in a desperate need of de-uglification
Awww somebody's mad
@@nathandaniels8724 i’m actually a Honda fan, owned two Accords, one civic and still have a Honda motorcycle and only had one VW Passat which was the least reliable car i ever had. So no, that’s not it. It’s still ugly, sorry.
@@Mickey_Bauer and I'm actually a huge Volkswagen fan, I've owned 1 tsi and 4 gti which was most reliable car I've had, but this volk here is still stock in the 90's which riced out ugly wheels and a wannabe Subaru with the ridiculous mud flap. Sorry
Civic yyds👍
I would just put stock rims and trim back on the civic and just confuse the hell out of random people on the road or hwy
Alguien sabe qué le han hecho a ese Honda Civic? Qué modelo es? EXT? Cuántos HP tiene?
Make a video with a 1/2 mile race and a 1 mile race let’s see at top end speed who’s the winner I know cvt transmission have the advantage on the pull off but at top end speed the automatic transmission will catch up to it
What kind of spec sheet does Civic have?
It says 300bhp
This superiority comes from torque which vtec provides in a broad rpm band. Bcoz vtec has variabli camshaft profile which extends lift time of profile at higher rpms. Thats why first tsi has the advantage at the lower rpm but then vtec boosts later on when both engines come across the higher rpms and vtec wins. Also vtec can generate higher rpm just bcoz of variable camshaft profile via providing a higher feed to the cylindres.
This civic doesn’t have vtec
I see quick Hondas, & I miss my Silver '98 Prelude!
Hey Honda, bring back a quick Hybrid Prelude, please
Please either owner of the CIVIC CVT or someone else who knows write: what mods are done to increase its factory 180hp to 300 hp.
Is there a video of how they tuned that civic?
This is what a NON BIAS CHANNEL is. If
You guys noticed. The Honda lost badly
To the VW a few days ago and now a civic beat a VW badly. That’s because SAM doesn’t filter or do bias races. He just lets the cars speak for themselves!
:)
Which channel did the honda lost badly?
This channel.
@@martintintin7729 that was two different cars, that was an accord vs a gli
No shit. Did you read what I said? I said this channel isn’t bias. In one video Honda loses badly and in the other VW Loses badly. He doesn’t have an incentive to make one car look better than the other. And unless I’ve been living under a rock, a civic is a Honda right? And a GLI is a VW right? And a golf is VW right? And the civic CVT is an HOND right? K
what a sleeper civic
I want to see that civic compete against a 300 HP N/A tuned K-Series civic.
Well not no cvt fan. But that civic was gone. Would still rather buy the golf if I had to pick 😂.
@@billygarrick4811 oh please . I'm always in the right lane passing people like you hogging the left lane 😂
how many travels 100-200?
Not like the guy in the golf would win but in the rolling races he could not even stay even!
I'm sure that Golf has a DSG and not a torque converter automatic, either way Im surprised the CVT did quite well.
It sucks that we don't get the 1.8 TSI in South Africa, im sure it would be a big seller!
FWD golf have auto in canada, only 4motion 1.8 got DSG
@@Fiagore Wow! great, I didn't know VW sold the Golf with those specs.
Is the honda tuned or stock? vw has so much more torque, so suspected that would help it here. are they both stock ?
Did you watch the video? 😂
@@wbwayne8887 haha, yes but I skipped a bit after seeing the visual specs he posts.. missed the hp to the wheels part... still surprised to how much quicker the civic was.. those were very close numbers
@@rpmautoreviews9249
I was surprised also, impressive, especially with that CVT.
@@rpmautoreviews9249 the civic has almost 50 more HP
@@turdzilla1675 does it? I thought he said the golf had 260whp? I have 2 watch the video again.
how could you possibly get 300 wheel out of a cvt that shit doesn’t add up at all
Please run the dodge charger rt not the Daytona the R/T against the Chrysler 300 hemi I think it would be pretty cool to see that comparison 😀
I will try to find them
They’re literally the same car
@@SamCarLegion do it please
Boring
Daytona is an RT lmao
Would love to an automatic stock SS Camaro or WS6 Firebird 96-2001 race one of these and I bet the old school wins.
Can anyone tell me what kind if rims the golf has? I got similar golf and those rims look awesome 👍
What are the modifications for the civic? Just curious 🧐
I'm curious as to how that Civics transmission will hold up over time.
Probably not very long, that shit CVT transmission doesn’t have the durability to deal with the extra horsepower. He better swap it out for the 6 speed manual transmission.
@@applepoop10 Most of them hold up pretty good, even when they're tuned. There is a big tuning and reliability thread on the CivicX forums.
@@Schreibtisch1 hondata have found the limit of these cvt 3 years ago, and i dont how this civic can run like this without damaging the cvt, his car will probably lost power to the wheel a little bit at every hard acceleration he make. Some have already burn up these honda cvt with a lot less power.
@@Teebee288 no do your research, tons of ppl on civicx forums are fbo, tuned and have over 100k miles running smoothly
@@Teebee288 Yes some of them destroyed their CVTs with a Hondata or Ktuner tune that's right, so do DSG / DCT transmissions in VW sometimes breake with chip tuning. What I've also noticed that some people didn't take care well of their CVT, it's important to not brake boost and change the CVT fluid every 25 or 35k kilometers (forgott the exact number).
omg the golf looks like from the stone age next to the honda
CVT can keep up with the DSG? Wow, i cannot imagine that. Beside in a sport mode, the initial accel is even.
@@f3nixfire The CVT of the Civic has a huge lag off the line, that's one big downside of the CVT. But as you can the in the video the Golf is shaking at every gear change, you can see how the Golf looses time due to these gear changes. And it's not that slow, Sam posted a video recently were this Civic beat a Civic Type R, so the CVT can't be that awfull.
@@f3nixfire Sure not for race cars and another downside of a CVT is the top speed limitation. But those aren't race cars, these are slow commuter cars and the biggest advantage of the CVT is the butter smootheness. DCTs can be very anyoing when they constantly changing gears.
Maybe a DSG/DCT in a Civic would be slightly faster, but nobody would ever notice when it's one tenth of a second faster at 0-60
Not dsg on golf
@@Schreibtisch1 It does LOSE time.
@@briansantos4637 exactly, DSG is on Gti or golf R, not tsi
