I love this car! I hope for Sauber that it will deliver good results. They need it and we need this midfield teams. As a fan they are the salt of the earth and I want them to be successful and cash in some good money. Get well soon Marc....a fan from Vienna.... cheers
I'm really enjoying these walkthroughs of the new cars Marc! The first thing I noticed was the intricate curving of the barge boards. Very unusual! I hope Sauber and Leclerc have a great year in this beautiful car!
Sometimes you see a car and you just get the feeling it's going to be quick. I get the feeling with this car. Plus the 18' Ferrari drivetrain and rear suspension and Leclerc, I've got a good feeling this car will end up comfortably in the mid pack this season.
Great analysis Marc. Really interesting side-pod split, something I missed at first glance yesterday. Nice to see they're showing off the added aerodynamics on the halo, which for me somewhat improves it visually. Can't wait to see the Mercedes and Ferrari tomorrow, and of course your analysis on them.
On another note: All lenghts in the car got pretty much increased: wheelbase (according to Joerg Zander), length (from 5143 to 5500mm) and front (1650 instead of 1615mm) and rear track width (1550 instead of 1530 mm) aswell. This leaves more room for aero elements, especially the turning vanes infront of the newly designed side pods. They definitely have a new concept for this year and I hope it pushes them forward to the grid ahead of a Toro Rosso with a "dreams of power"-engine and the Haas team who are still struggling with their brakes and have basically the same engine. I know it's hard to rank teams before they have even driven one meter on track, but i am hopeful for an 8th place in the standings for Sauber.
diluted orange juice with a pinch of salt. Good hydration and water retention, easy on the mucous membrane in the throat. you can warm it and add honey or sugar. it also works great for post workout hydration and hangovers.
Brabham bt46c fan car technology could have helped F1 to get rid of complex, expensive and not so turbulent friendly aerodynamics? Do you think it's a missed opportunity which could have led F1 to a totally different path in technology?
@@F1Elvis well really why not? Only big issue is if engine or fan fails mid high speed corner a HUGE wreck would happen. Yet it would have been fun to see it for a few years in f1. The throwing rocks thing was B.S. started by Chapman to try and ban it. Because he had just found ground effect on another level and saw all his r&d going down the drain with Murrays fan car. And it wasn't technically banned at first. Listen to Murray talk about it. There was a different reason , at first anyway, why brahbum stopped using the fan car. Murray already had version 2.0 designed and it would have been insane g-forces. FULL downforce from the start line sitting still. No need for traction control . Probably would have required driver g-suits like fighter pilots. Anyway i think it would have advanced materials and clutch systems a lot if it had lasted.
I think the higher side pod has been designed to allow cooler air to enter the radiators especially when following a car which is releasing hot exhaust air into the following car. This will allow Sauber to follow cars for longer without heating the engine too much, assuming that they can keep up.
Beautiful livery. My biggest dissapointment is that Marcus and not Pascal will be driving it. Would have been great to see him in a car with the lastest Ferrari engine . Do you think with a good engine, Williams could get a run for their money this year
If you would pay attention, you would know that one of the Ferrari's 2017 car's key details were seperated sidepod intake very much like that. That is just upgrated version of it.
Nice looking car, nice talkthrough marc. your voice a bit like the honda power unit last year.... hit and miss ;) thanks again to claire, now go enjoy some time off chilling out, until thursday :)
Oml, I was listening with ear buds and when he started talking it sounded like someone was talking behind me. The fact that scared me the most is I was sitting against a brick wall
Here's my personal predictions for car performance: 1. Ferrari 1. Mercedes 3. Red Bull 4. Force India (One?) 5. Mclaren 6. Renault 6. Sauber 7.Williams 7. Haas 10. Toro Rosso Notes: 1. Ferrari and Mercedes haven't revealed their cars yet, but it's safe to assume they'll be at the top and both improve their PU's 2. Red Bull have been fantastic with their chassis as of late, plus there's a possibility of the Renault PU improving. 3. Force India is probably going to be ahead of the rest of the mid-tier teams because they've been doing fantastic with their cars lately. 4. I feel like if McLaren can live up to the hype they're giving their chassis, they'll be far and ahead of Renault. 5. Renault kinda scares me a bit because they're car looks too simple compared to all the others revealed at this point. But I'll hold off judgement until Preseason 6. Sauber looks to be making some substantial gains, assuming the PU holds up. But I'm not completely confident in their aero as of yet. 7. Don't know why but I get the feeling Haas will be lower than Sauber, prolly because Sauber has the help from Ferrari). (But they have the same PU right?) 7. Williams claims to have done improvement to the aero but I still don't get the feeling it will do particularly fantastic for some reason. 8. Yeah, I still have doubts with honda's PU, I feel like TR is going to lag a lot. 9. This doesn't factor in the drivers at all either :P. So yeah, that's my personal predictions. Sorry about any mistakes or lack of sentence flow lol.
If Sauber really have taken a step for this season, we are in for an absolutely incredible battle in the midfield! Sauber, Haas, Toro Tosso (if the Honda power is better)
I can’t wait to see what ferrari and mercedes have come up with this year. Great videos Marc your giving Mr Kravitz development corner a run for his money. Keep up the good work and thanks Claire your a very understanding wife (rare)
I think it is simply that Sauber can not afford to "dumb down" their design for the reveal photoshoot. They have to include some of their final designs unlike the other teams.
Mark I'd like to learn more about whats really going on inside the front nose where you keep mentioning the S-duct. Are all the teams using an S-duct? What the purpose of the S-duct? And I wonder are there little secrets inside the front nose that the teams keep hidden?
I feel this is the first year in a long time Sauber can challenge other teams. What do you think abot the drivers? You think Ericsson can challenge Leclerc or will Leclerc dominate? Love your channel Marc.
i know its gonna cost more, but it would be great if you could print out the pictures of the car instead of using the tv screen, just a suggestion as i really like your videos
despite the halo, improvements made to the 2017 car may still compensate for the added weight and impact on aero. So I bet they will be faster in testing, but in race weekends they will be slower(except monza). Sigh, miss the days when f1 isn't about conserving fuel/engine/tyres, but is instead a flat out dash for the entire race.
Allen, it also includes the introduction of the Halo protection device, less engine parts allowed to be used, ban of T-wing(but teams already found a loop hole)
This is very odd. With Mclaren and Sauber having innovations (engine and aero respectively) and Renault growing in pace, haas and toro Rossi might become permanent backmarkers.
Good call marc. Sauber has taken Alfa's(fiats) money and ran with it. Sad how far Sauber fell after BMW bailed on them. I really hope they keep the Sauber name because Peter Sauber fought tooth and nail to keep the team alive. From world championship contenders in 2008/09 to last in 2015... Im excited to see them in 2019. HAAS and Renault should be very very worried. Evem after BMW sauber with Kobayashi and Perez where contenders. So with a ferrari engine again and Fiat/Alfa's support they should do good things. 2019 will be great with renault, sauber, and honda coming good in my prediction
Also, the pack seems to be getting close to one another. A result of stable rules perhaps. But, also engine sharing - could indeed prove to be an interesting season.
Thanks, great vid and a cool car. It kinda looks like a bull, let's hope it will be a fast bull for a change. Health tip: Let your wife do the talking for a while
Wicked! Is this the first one we are seeing where the Halo doesn't look that odd? It still needs to loose that stupid front section that blocks the drivers view though, surely we have the technology to manufacture this? 🤔
Ryan Chenoweth I'm sure it will evolve, but the central pillar has to be there right now to take the enormous vertical loads it has to cope with in the FIA tests. I don't like it either.
Marc Priestley Maybe we could change out the large single front for two slimline ones, or even a mixture of just the top of the Halo with screen around the front 🤔 Keep up the great work mate!!!
Ryan Chenoweth it doesn't block the drivers view stop spreading this misinformation, it's very thin and close enough from the eyes to be mostly "erased" by the brain thanks to, you know, having two eyes and shit.
Ryan Chenoweth Put you hand sideways in front of you at ~40cm from your eyes (so it has the shape of the part of the Halo in front of the driver), now focus far beyond your hand like you would in the car, does the hand bother you to see what's happening in front of you? all if this crazy aero is cool enough looking but I wonder what cars would look like if they went back to the regulations of the 1940s 1970s when aero was obvious to ordinary human intuition... it seems like it's all a response to trying to find the tiny advantages to regulation. Anyhow more often than not throughout history one or two teams have dominated a season..
That's what I thought, previous sauber were basic, this one is not and my point is that you can clearly see cash as been poored in (which is good for good competition). On another note, the nose of that car looks like a a human nose with nostrals... not a fan of that bit.
Get well soon brother Questions for you: Have you subscribed to my RUclips channel yet?😂 Are teams like Toro Rosso,Haas, and Sauber allowed to fight for top positions eg if Toro Rosso was in front of Red Bull on merit fighting for podiums or even wins or do they always have to move over?
Raz on F1 Yes, they are allowed to fight for top positions. It's not been an issue yet, but I'm sure if a Toro Rosso was in the way of RBR fighting for a championship, CH would be on the phone pretty quickly.
Fill AshThrow'n'out That's not going to happen in 3 years. FE's coming a long way, but if you're talking about speed, they're not designed for ultimate top end or downforce.
Marc Priestley I heard that from next season on they have cars with a new generation of batteries which last a whole race, plus the maximum speed is above 300km/h. So who knows!
ultimately the FE cars are limited by it's battery, they can't go as fast as they want or else they would run out of juice. Which is partly why it doesn't have/need much downforce. Yes engineers are able to produce drastically better batteries in labs but it will take many years until anyone would overcome the difficulties of manufacturing them full scale/in mass. Without any break through in battery technology there's no chance they would be faster than an F1 car. Also F1 cars are heavily limited by strict regulations, if F1 are at risk of becoming slower than FE then they will just alter the regulations and leave FE in dust.
jamie 711711 Nevertheless I think there's a good reason why they made the FE. I saw recently a race and the commentators mentioned that from next season on the teams will use this new generation of batteries!
So I really wanted to like this interesting video. But you’re doing it wrong. I’m not interested in your half profile and your pinky finger against a blurry cam of your tv. Use an image directly and use some sort of pointer and arrows to visualise. Content is great.

love your detailed analysis of the car which helps me to understand the car a lot more. Wish you get well very soon !
Thank you
I'm really enjoying these walkthroughs of the new cars Marc! The first thing I noticed was the intricate curving of the barge boards. Very unusual! I hope Sauber and Leclerc have a great year in this beautiful car!
These videos are great. I have seen some videos about the new cars but this is next level. Keep up with the good work!
I think this might be my favourite looking car so far.
I like it too.
Thank you again Claire. The C37 have so many tiny little holes. And the livery looks great from the back.
great videos Marc. hope you get better soon dude. been ill with the same thing myself
Get well soon👍

Fascinating analysis! Thanks for such a thorough look at the Sauber. I look forward to more videos like this! Just hit subscribe...
Barry Goffe Thanks, appreciate it.
I really like the new Sauber, looks great, even the halo.
Get in there Sauber! Gorgeous car
Ginger and honey, marc. Try some lime too.

Bahamuttiamat Thanks
Marc Priestley also try lemon juce diluted in hot water with honey to sweeten it
Tequila with lemon juice,, lol.
,
This car looks fast, that's usually not a bad thing ;-)
Marc another fantastic vid! Hope your voice gets better and look forward to seeing you on sky f1 with Natalie
Chris Griffin Thanks

Lennart Markovic Very!
Such a better looking Livery for Sauber I think it should stand out a lot more than in 2017.
@ Marc Priestley, Keep the good vids up, love it
Thanks
okok, got it, I'm a Sauber fan now - I'm a fan of underdogs mixing up the field
That makes to of us. Also Go ToRo RossO Honda!
Chuck-Clawd Gawd-Damn Noris yeah, that would be something! Also Haas looks promising too... Can't wait to see how they all perform in Australia
from new zealand - thankyou for your detailed analysis! looking forward to Mclaren:)
Really very innovative and nice ideas thanks Elvis
Saleh 1 Thanks
Great video and hopefully a great car. Always had a soft spot for Sauber and with McLaren coming back it could be a good season 😊🏆
Beautiful livery. My biggest dissapointment is that Marcus and not Pascal will be driving it. Would have been great to see him in a car with the lastest Ferrari engine . Do you think with a good engine, Williams could get a run for their money this year
Kondja Negongo I don't see why not...
I really think the livery is a let down. Only angle i think it works from is the rear tbh
love the rear but its better than a Haas, Williams, Force India
big shame for pascal, he was overall faster than marcus last year, but marcus is staying due to sponsor money

Wow, that sidepod is soooo beautiful 😍. I expect ferrari to have something like this as well! I can not wait for the papaya McLaren! Get well soon!
nice and detailed video, get well soon!
Thanks
Great review. Try to feed the image directly instead of filming the screen as much as possible. Like you did in 2:31
Certainly one of the more attractive cars on the grid, I hope they do well.
It would be crazy if the different sidepod approach mad it the brawn of 2018.

4 different engines and 10 different chassis and body designs. And they are within 1 second of each other out of the box. It just isn't possible.

Thank you for the answar Mark and Jamie!
What about the T wing - Does it benefit the aerodynamics or does i get worse?
Marc Priestley Not really into F1 but what are the new regulation besides the banned of shark fins?

Also, the pack seems to be getting close to one another. A result of stable rules perhaps. But, also engine sharing - could indeed prove to be an interesting season.

Can you hold the picture after zooming in?
As you zoom in I'm focusing.... I'm focusing.... I'm focusing.... And it's gone!
Annoying!!
Sauber has taken a scale model of a Cessna and pu!t front of it on their nose cone!
New management, New philosophy
In Formula 1 when someone innovates and gains an advantage means mid-season or next season it'll be banned, it's been proven time and time again.
Clean the camera lens mate!!
Gareth Jordan probably recorded on a phone....not a very good one at that too lol
And lock the focus
Please stop pointing at things on the car on the TV screen because we cant see what you're talking about.
Claire, take away his camera, stick him in bed and feed him tea until he's over the cold! ;) While these videos are nice, health is more important.
Is it just me or do the mirrors seem really far back?? the drivers really gonna have to turn their head to see anything
You sound like you have been screaming at a death metal festival.... holiday yeah yeah ! 😃👍🏻
please disable autofocus, it's very annoying. Other than that, great video!
Look where YT is going to. Sick People must bring out their videos instead of calm down and take a day off.

Is the dislike Monisha Kaltenborn?!?
Vuhdu, XD nice one
Vuhdu If you mean me, no, I always liked Monisha, but new leaders have new approaches.
it might be the prettiest among current F1 cars, but it is still ugly af
