What an interesting series of comparisons, thank you!

I'm an ex-competitor of the old-school style. My partner and I also spent many many hours in front of the mirror, practising Samba technique. Bounce, sway AND tick! I enjoy modern choreography and style, but often think that the connection between the couples is sometimes lacking, with each one appearing to be doing their own thing. Still, we move forward and in another decade or so, the style will have changed again. Hope I'm still around to see it!

Love the old style Latin, smooth and clean! The New style looks much more harsh, i think, and less deep in the floor. What i like from the new style is the speed and suddenly the stops with superb impact. By the way a super couple!

Mostly agree, but there are to much stops in every dance; and what I really don't like that most guys aren't guys anymore. They out-dance the girls. And they hardly have any eyecontact anymore ...................... I must say I miss pairs like Alan and Hazel, Sammy and Shirley, David and Denise, Donny and Gaynor .....................

I agree totally wiel40! I love this lecture, I love all students from Walter Laird “hands” and I love all gentlemens on the floor:
      - Allan Tornsberg
      - Peter Maxwell
      - Espen Salberg
I would love to go back to this time...;)
