Woodturning | Olive wood Bowl

so i was Gifted a couple of pieces of nice Olive wood bowl blanks from my buddy Kostas Annikas Deftereos who also has a RUclips channel, i will leave a link to his channel below so please go check him out, so i will be woodturning this and making and olive wood bowl with it today, i will be using Yorkshire grit original and microfine and a crimson guitars bronze wax and of course i will be using my easy wood tools and easy wood chuck and the lathe i used was my coronet herald lathe by record power.

You can only get small chopping boards of olive wood here, good for pen blanks

Hi Jamie, Fantastic grain in that bowl. I have 2 similar pieces of olivewood but both are "Green". Have you ever dealt with green olivewood? Cheers, Huw

@@huwdavies5264 ok so i spoke to someone and they said that Olive doesnt move a lot at all as its very dense grain, you might get some very light surface ripples which are actually very pretty but they have never had a piece of Olive crack on them while drying and they use that A LOT!, When it comes to Finishing he said he wouldnt put a Lacquer finish on it because its an oily wood and wouldnt hold well, so what you should do it douse it it rubbing alcohol, sand lightly, wait for it to evaporate then put on your finish. All that Help came from my Buddy Yuval Lahav who also has a channel where he turns a lot of Olive wood, please go check him out, he does some awesome work
