How's this for lucky? Playing Animar Artifacts, I had one mountain and Sol Ring in opening hand; no other mana at all and Animar is obviously 3 different colors to cast. First draw was a Copper Myr so played the land, Sol Ring and Myr to have 2 of my colors ready for Turn 2. Next draw? Steam Vents! Boom, Turn 2 Animar off a 1 basic land hand! And then I lost the game very quickly after, of course, due to being the very obvious main threat...but those draws were luck defined!

T2: Shared Animosity off the top, cast Taste For Mayhem enchanting one of the vampire creatures, swing at the Breya deck for 34 damage. Turn 2. The best thing of all is the Breya Deck cracked a fetchland into an untapped Shockland turn 1 so started T2 on 3 life... Needless to say the Edgar players Turn 3 Twilight Prophet spelled doom for the Breya deck lol. Freaking crazy game. Doesn't matter if you're the arch enemy when you basically take out one of your three commander opponents on turn 2 and leave lethal damage on board thereafter 😅🤣

On turn 1. Never been able to do it again since. Needless to say the table conceded and I dont blame them. God Hand doesn't even begin to describe it. I seem to remember embarrassedly apologising to the table lol.

The reason why people run lightning storm is because you can put grizelbrand into play then pass the turn. 8/8 griselbrand will probably win the game on its own and if your opponent tries to deal with it, you can kill them with lightning storm in response. This removes the chance to brick after putting griselbrand into play t1/2.
Serious question, could Fists of Flame be a good 1 or 2 of finisher? Obviously without haste no turn 0 kills but 2 GrizzyB activations and a fist of flame is lethal...

There are plenty of matchups where you really don't need to draw cards. An 8/8 flying lifelinker is more than enough against burn, dredge, phoenix if they don't hit thing in the ice
Sweet video, I've always had a thing for combo deck, although I do dislike it when a format is nothing but linear decks when it's supposed to be a diverse format (if you know what I mean). Neoform is a cool deck, though, and I'll have to try it at some point (assuming it sticks around). That being said, have you ever tried the even crazier Narset combo deck?
Been saving up money and slowly accumulating grishoalbrand pieces for a while now with my high school no job income. I built up a bit of the deck only for a more competitive variant to come out using the half of the deck I haven’t bought yet. Wish I would’ve gotten the griselbrands and manamorphoses first instead of the worldspine wurms and goryos vengeances. Maybe I’ll end up building neoform if it doesn’t get banned

I loved modern before the london mulligan and horizons, it has taken a bit of a nosedive since but it may well just fix itself over time. To answer the crux of your question: I do not think modern needs to be slowed down to be fun (it is my favourite format) and I do not think it needs a swathe of bannings.
Modern hasn't been fun in a while. I bought into Legacy where all my games are pretty unique and individual. Legacy also rewards players for playing well. Modern doesn't have enough interaction to actually contain itself.

Well, Neobrand did show up at MCIV. As 1% of the field. To say that its not a problem is an understatement, the deck is just not relevant. Hogaak is the main outlier, otherwise Phoenix, Tron and U/W might need a hit.
In a post-hogaak world, those 3 would likely gobble up the resulting empty space in the metagame, and become just as overrepresented. Maybe not Eldrazi Tron, that one might actually fall.
As a super aggro player I can't believe I'm saying this but i kinda hope Azorius Control slows down this kind of degenerate combos I mean, Lavinia is an early answer for both Hogaak and this... Thing, right?

Nourishing Soul needs to be limited to 1 copy and dredge needs to be nerfed by introducing some really op 1 mama hexproof artifacts or enchantments that shutdown graveyards.
