I literally went through everything that’s described…..Being mixed was a struggle, I didn’t even know I was half black until I was 10…..My momma gave me to the state because my stepdad told her it was me or him……. Lately been struggling with the pain from the past but to hear lay sing this song lets me know there’s nothing wrong with me there’s just shi**y people in the world ❤❤❤

I been hooked on this song since the 1st time I ever heard it. Its so crazy to know so many of us young girls went through similar situations growing up. I use to blame myself for everything I went through thinking I did wrong and wishing I was dead so many times so I wouldn't have to go through it anymore. This song made me look at Layton with so much more respect. I will love her to eternity.

I can so relate...a child of addicts and abuse, turned 18 started my own family, biracial kids they became victims of my husband and I circumstances, as we became addicts they suffered , I put the blame on me, they put the blame on themselves,Lost our daughter in 2021 to gun violence caught in random crossfire coming out of waffle house....I put the blame on me and the cycle continues unless you give it to the Lord let him carry tthe burden.....and the blame becomes a blessing...life gets easier.....God shows up and shows out when you accept him....God bless you for writing this song it will help and has helped so many

I remember that night. I was laying in bed and my stepdad came in drunk. He threatened to kill my mom. My little brother(3 at the time) was in the room with them. He was awake. He was crying that he didn’t hurt my mom. My mom threatened him back. He said he was gonna come in my room and ask me if I loved her. Idk what would have happened if his friend didn’t come in and yell at him to stop being abusive. He left us on Christmas and told us to leave his house.
Facts cuz rn I’m contemplating just ending it all.
