For longest time, I thought The Headband, which was essentially a Footloose parody episode where young Fire Nation students weren't allowed to dance was just filler. However, rewatching this episode where Aang & Zuko met these last 2 dragons & danced with them made me realize that by suppressing dancing it also meant the Fire Nation was unintentionally suppressing a key aspect of fire bending. This show was the king of foreshadowing & referencing even the smallest of details from earlier episodes.

Exactly, same thing as zuko experienced -- he didn't know how else to view/draw out his fire bending other than anger, rage, and as a form of violence. The Fire Nation rewrote their own history into solely militaristic roots
Just as they cut out the key aspects; fire bending inspired by dance, as a source of life, becoming too violent and greedy driving the other nations to hate them -- not to mention people like jeong jeong who abandoned their nation after seeing what they've become
Very interesting I never thought of that before. lol I could see how you could think of that episode as "filler" but honestly Avatar has no filler. Each episode is either plot, world, or character building in some way. Yes even the dreaded "Great Divide"
Truly a masterclass show that will and has stood the test of time.
@@zachariousmccool5768people need to chill out on the great divide it was a cute lil ep, the haru episode was the weakest in the show and it's a shame because it had some of kataras best moments but it's not like the rest of show was lacking I those so I don't mind skipping it each and everytime
the moment Mai & Ty Lee go against azula is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. “You miscalculated; i love zuko more than i fear you.”
One of the best and most underrated lines of the whole show!

The most iconic banter of this whole show 🤣
But something cool is that Zuko pauses and looks up right before he responds. A lot of people interpret that as him looking up at the moon but I see that as him remembering the day it happened. Zuko was there the day Zhao killed the moon spirit koi fish and saw the moon disappear and come back, so I always see his pause as him going “oh yeah the moon did disappear that one time.”
Also, fun fact, after the Sun warrior episode and zuko learns the secret of firebending from the dragon, he no longer grunts (through the rest of the show) when he firebends because it no longer comes from anger.
Another fun fact, this isn't the first time. Back during his date, he firebent the lanterns. It came from kindness.

His fighting style also becomes significantly less aggressive. Before, he would strike mindlessly, which is why Aang could fold him so easily. After he meets the dragons he begins relying on counterattacks: he waits, blocks/dodges, and then strikes, which is how experienced martial artists fight

I gotta give The Warden some respect. Man said he would prefer jumping into the boiling lake over having the integrity of the prison broken and when it came down to it he actually stuck to it. So, props.

The most powerful one-shot killer in the series starts casting, Mai not only squares up but then Ty Lee folds her like a napkin. Doesn't matter what your birthright is if you're alone.

Suki was the best part of episode 14 and 15. Zuko just joined the gaang and now we have Suki.

Zuko have one of the best character development in television history
These episodes right here cashing out many character arcs they've been working all series long, and it's so gratifying. Zuko's is so earned, much more than if he'd joined Aang in Ba Sing Se. Mai & Ty Lee's reversal is such a surprise, but it doesn't come out of nowhere. Sure they are imperial brats whose hands are dirty, but they've been driven by Azula, an abusive friend (if we can call her that). And their dissatisfaction can be seen at various points. When Azula threatens someone they care about, they find it in them to oppose her.
Note to self: Don't drink water while watching y'all. My desk is covered from a spit take. Too funny.
Seeing Mai defy Azula, and then seeing Ty Lee absolutely destroy Azula, were two of my favorite moments in the whole series. That, plus watching the Dragons “dancing”. Great trio of episodes! 😁
The dragon fire scene is my favorite of all time i have a picture of zuko and aang in the fire as my phones background. Its just beautifully done.

I just didn't like how in episode 16, Chinsey (the convict) just vanished and apparently without his bestie and girlfriend without saying bye to Sokka and Zuko. He's a minor character but still...

I've been going through a really rough time and I recently found your channel. I just got done watching your Squid Game reaction(s) and then binged through your Avatar: The Last Airbender reactions. This is one of my favorite shows. Sokka taking a trip with Zuko to rescue Suki and Hakoda is one of the best episodes in the series (in my opinion)

For Aang & Zuko, it was all about the means of discovering the true meaning and ways of Fire Bending. But, for Sokka? It was all about a Rescue Mission for MORE than just his father here, man!
Yeah, no shit, these last several episodes (today's included) are some of the best of the series. Such a powerhouse streak. Southern Raiders part 2 is my personal favorite of this grouping.

Firebending comes from the breath…..dragon breath! 🤪🤪 also shake my head.....Azula....you DID miscalculate. You pushed Zuko too far. Pushed him right to the side of good with your father. When Zuko left, Mei was bound to leave and Ty Lee loves Mei more than she fears you too. They may have played with you growing up, but they were actually more fond of Zuko and each other than they were of you.

People post they love the betrayal of Ty Lee and Mai. I say it's not a betrayal. Slaves can't betray their master. Ty Lee was coerced on pain of eventual death to join Azula. Mai is smarter and knew you greet Azula, do what she says, and act like her friend. Putting Zuko and Mai in the same location was a big mistake. It allowed them to rekindle their relationship. When Zuko was banished Mai thought she'd wind up married to some guy her parents picked, have a couple of brats, and live her life in sorrow. Then, Zuko returns. The grass is greener. The sky is brighter.
Zuko's mother helped commit murder to protect him Mai would do no less. Ty Lee feared for her friend and acted on instinct. Azula had no one to thank, or blame, but herself.

If I’m May, I would have said “I’m protecting you from yourself.” The Firelord could have killed or sent someone to kill Zuko anytime he wanted. And if so, it would have been in some WaterTribe alley or Earth Kingdom backwoods. Not in full view of the nation’s most infamous and secure military institution.

This is my favorite show ever, so this is just me overthinking, but why doesn’t anyone go along with Aang and Zuko, just in case? Especially Katara…. Like, he’s just joined, and all of a sudden he wants to take the Avatar alone on this trip? Seems SUS to me lol story wise I get it bc they wanted them to be in danger and stuck, but it really doesn’t make sense that no one came along.
This is why I do not like new fans. I feel they missed the moment. Azula was necessary. Loved her, loved everyone!
