    Total panels: 42 Sunpower X22
    Battery type: 2x 13kwh Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4)
    This solar system start to finish took a long time. The process started in April 2022 and due to product shortages, the install didn't start until the end of August 2022. They got it functional, the meter was spinning backwards at a fast rate! But due to a new PG&E requirement, they had to make major changes to the Sunpower app which delayed the actual finalization of the battery backup system. It took a couple extra months for them to get it working. So here we are at the end of October and it FINALLY is all working. I wanted to give it some time to show the results for this time of year anyway. Obviously, it should be even more powerful (the panel output) in the middle of summer with lots of daylight hours. Right now the time just changed so it isn't everything it can be with limited sun. But it is still awesome! Our bill is dropping at a fast pace and the peace of mind with the battery backup (while retaining our whole-house generator just in case) is something we really like!
    As stated in the video, once "peak rates" start kicking in (4-9pm typically) the battery bank starts supplying the house which also cuts the bill down. It does that for the entire night until it reaches my specified reserve capacity. They recommend 20% reserve but i like to keep at least 60% when there is no threat of a looming outage. If i know there could be trouble (heavy wind, rain or snow) i can put it into "reserve mode" and keep 100% ready at all times. It is a really nice system! I will check back next summer and let you guys know how it did all winter long and how it will be doing when it has much better sun. So far so good! Thanks for watching if you did!

    One thing I'd suggest is make sure your shingles are brand new. If there say 10 years old just re roof your house with good quality materials and then install the panels. Saves a lot of work later and roofs aren't the pricey. Steve your the man. Been here for a long ass time and love how far you have come. Much props on every thing you do and done.

    Had 13.25kw installed this week (up from a 20yr old 1.5kw system), is battery ready, and is pumping out a lazy 50kw/ day here in sunny Queensland, Australia. Had the installers fit a "Shore Power" point to plug in a Genset.
    Total cost was $16,500 AUD installed.
    Got a $2000 credit towards a battery as part of the deal. Its slow, but slowly i am getting our house closer to being off grid.

    in italy, my family bought similar system. 6.6kw panels and 20.8kw battery lithium/graphene. we live in sicily, all winter days solar panels produce like 18kw per day, in summer is like 25/26kw per day. electricity costs like 0.40€/kw and it's crazy. we bought an electric car and we drive without petrol from more of 2 years (1.60€/liter diesel and 1.68€/liter gasoline, that's crazy) thanks to out solar panels and batteries. it's fantastic. glad to see your videos :)

    i’m happy to see Sunpower installed. The 280 lbs is called main. There’s also same unit called Expansion. it’s lightweight coz it doesn’t have the inventor , just holds the battery. With main and Expansion combined, can do everything with it including welding. I did assemble them in Bloomington,Minnesota. (Dalsin Industries). That’s the best of the solar power you got. That’s some power you will love. Tesla isn’t even close. It’s well built.

    California - you must buy electric cars charged by our grid. Also California, we're turning your electricity off because out grid can't handle the load right now. Solar with battery backup in the only way to go right now. Unless the sun flames out, which would be the end of the world, you will have power. I'm about to do a solar with battery backup for just a few fridges and freezers and such. I plan on running it at 12 volts, so I can also wire up car amps to power my subs in my home theater room. My energy costs are lower in Georgia, but the thought of saving a bit each month, in addition to having backup power in case of emergency makes me feel better for the safety of my family. Beautiful house, can't wait to see what you do with the theater set-up with the 2 32's.

    Curious as to how everyone in the comments pays per kW not including their base rate. BC CAN its $.09 a kW up to 1350 kWh then raises to $.14 a kW after that.

    I'll be really interested to hear what you think of the batteries over time. I just got a 10kW system with 20kWh of batteries, and honestly I wish I had gotten double the batteries that I got. 20kWh seems like a lot, but it's not enough to run my whole house overnight, so I still have a few hours where I'm importing power from the grid. Late at night so the power is cheaper, but still I was hoping for 100% self-powered, and I didn't get that.

    This was dope. Is this the type that the City will pay you for unused power?

      they'll give him a power bill credit for 30 cents on the dollar for the power he sends to them

    Would love to seen an update. In a view months I will be putting in a 34 panel Sunpower 425W system with two sun vaults. Also, did you put a UPS on your Internet Wifi to solve for the disconnect time between power failure and the sun vault turning on?

    Glad your reviewing the battery banks. I have 55 panels and it's a scam direct loop w the electric Co. Want to change to your exact setup pretty much. Please let us know on performance to cost ratio too b. Thx n God bless bass brother!!!!

    Dam that's a nice system 🤘🏽🇺🇸. Question is are you able to add more panels later on if you aren't producing enough power?

    Awesome video! Just curious if they needed to add any support on the wall with the battery panels?

    Have you considered having some of those trees removed or topped off to increase sunlight exposure?

    • @meade916
      @meade916  2 года назад +3

      i am now! LOL. But really by the time those tree's get in the way, the sun is already going down. We get a really solid day on the panels before that happens. But i am eyeballing that one shadow for sure.

      I never realized how much those small shadows can affect solar performance until I watched EEvblog's video on it.

    was hoping you'd be using xs power wall

    • @meade916
      @meade916  2 года назад +3

      XS doesn't have a power wall. Sorry, no home made shit on this install. If i had a cabin in the woods and was 100% off grid i would, but you can't just do that here and think you are gonna tie into the grid. It don't work that way.

    damn I thought my 600 to 800 month pwr. bill was bad. Could you do a follow up in a few months or maybe a follow up in 12 months Kwh Imprted/used/generated by solar/ sold back to the grid if you guys do that? Maybe a cost/ROI over time? I think in the future there will be more of a focus on the concepts of Micro-Grid's. Edit: 15 min in to the video. That system is BAD @$$!!!
