I did the math: if this guy climbed 4 ranks and played about 3-4 games per division (only wins + win streak + probably uphill battle to combat the win streak) that means he would have played about 70-80 games that day. If every game, everyone from the enemy team and none of his teammates reported him, that's about 300-400 reports in one day. That number only goes up if we account for his teammates reporting him. So 노버랜드 = Noverland/Neverland 노브랜드 = No Brand Idk I always find it fascinating when cheaters use Korean names or other languages names, and it translates to either something you might see going around to blend in better or something wacky.
I think it's probably a case of this cheater using Google translate instead of actual words, which leads to this confusion. I'm just guessing that they mean "Off Brand" or something, likely referencing their cheats.

Ban waves are the correct MASS ban method, yes. But there should be some sort of a manual ban system that’s done between the ban waves, so even if you can’t detect the software cheats you can ban people for having egregiously visual hacks like this. Hell, if the OW team really wanted to drum up content and engagement while cheaters are still happening, let the content creators in on the cheat detection. Make a whole gameshow about banning idiots that can’t get out of bronze without spin-botting. I’d kill to see an OW dev sit down every week and go through replays with Emongg and Flats to see who to instantly ban.
I'm fairly confident that the ego is mostly an act. Their real priority is to make people angry and acting like a cocky piece of shit is a really effective way to rile people up.
2:47 I recorded a comp game like that back in ow1 "Teammate plays sad guitar while some guy deranks his bots." Enemy team was just bots moving around enough to not get kicked. The music in the background is legit a guy on hot mic playing guitar while we wait for the game to finish.
Im just gonna say what it is. It's embarrassing. Blizzard should be embarrassed. Not by the fact that people are cheating. They should be embarrassed by how blatant and prolific cheaters can be with no reprocussions. I get the war on cheaters is a game of cat and mouse. However, even a lazy cat will catch a mouse that fucks around as hard as these cheaters are. Their monetization model is shameless. But Blizzards' complacency in the face of cheaters is downright shameful.
Put the cheaters into queue with other cheaters, increase their queue times, lower the damage, implement random "lag" spikes, mess up their sound so they think that their PC is broken, and then you can do the ban waves...
5:30 tbh getting people to do literally any play together in low metal ranks is literally impossible, let alone making everyone stop pushing after first point to draw a push game. Idk how games just don't have something hard coded in, to detect the spinning and even accuracy. You could just look at the average accuracy and if your accuracy is to high for to long (ie 3 games) then you get banned. Even headshots could be tracked, I imagine.
Some people like to spin just for fun and to show off their mouse, and cheaters can shoot a wall 50 times on purpose to lower accuracy. It's not quite that simple unfortunately

Fun fact, you CAN draw in clash as well as Flashpoint and KotH. After about 5.5-6.5 minutes of nobody capturing the objective, the game will simply just draw. Even if you win a round or cap a few points, it will still draw if nobody caps after that amount of time. The time varies depending on the map and whether anyone contests point
This guy doesn't get banned for hacking through multiple ranks and dozens of games, but I get banned after being reported, like, twice for saying "fuck".
Flats, the report system does not work based on number of reports. It works as: # of games reported / games played (minimum of x games played) = # of incidents per game. When you break a threshold of games played whether its cheating, toxicity, spam, or throwing, THAT is when the account gets actioned
I honestly feel for the guy that thought it was just maybe a smurf before realizing the guy was cheating, overwatch mid ranks like gold to diamond are infested with smurfs that will bully you if you accuse them of cheating. I've come across a bap that hit headshots only with my whole team accuse him just to be an annoying smurf, its really frustrating and a lot of people don't even bother accusing not to look stupid.

Seriously, Blizzard needs to pull a Bungie or a Nintendo and just sue the companies making the cheats since it should be against their T.O.S. It will at least slow them down and put a little fear of there are consequences for these actions.
dude that costs money and takes even longer than the obvious solutions to the problem. they could just implement mechanics that the community can use to take care of cheaters like when the majority votes against them they get kicked out of the game, OR they will just not be able to shoot anymore and are perma hacked, making them completely useless. They could also put cheaters that got reported too often in a cheater only matchmaking, where noone else but cheaters will queue.
Had no idea the spin thing was a hack. I like to spin in excitement when i own with zarya, makes sense why people act weird towards me. Shame people like this exist.
I hate how people forget that Sigma's, Reinhardt's, and Ramattra's shields can block aimbot heatshots from melting their team before they can retaliate. I once watched a whole team lose to a single babtiste when all their tank had to do was swap Rein and throw up a shield to stop his instant support kills.
The Venn Diagram of people who are okay with cheaters on their team and people who throw out "Cheater" accusations every time they get outplayed is a damn circle.
OW2 needs to simplify the report system. There should just be two report options: "Offensive Communication" and "Offensive Gameplay". Set a threshold based on reports received per x number of games for each that flags the account for AI review. AI review the "Offensive Communication" by checking chat and audio files. AI review the "Offensive Gameplay" by looking for statistical anomalies in their match history. Should be a completely separate process from ban waves.
People need to realize that when Thor was talking about ban waves he wasn't talking about guys like this who flaunt their cheats and get dozens of reports. He's talking about the smaller things like aim-assisters or those bot acounts that you know are bots but don't report. In those cases it isn't player reports but internal cheat detection systems that catch them, which they try to hide the methods of through ban waves
From the research on the guy's name, it means No Brand, it's a company in South Korea that sells food items, like supermarkets do. Or he just doesn't wanna brand himself.
As a Machine Learning Engineer, it still bogles my mind that no company has implemented server side mouse movement analysis / classification using AI models yet. They have sooo much data to train such models that it would work like a charm. Current anti-cheat solutions are extremely complicated, they hugely invade your system and can be still easily bypassed by skillful developers. A server side classification model for malicious players would solve all these issues, yet there is not even a hint that companies are at least trying to implement such an approach. There are cheats that mimic human mouse movement but instances such as this are extremely easy to detect and should be instantly banned.
I still think there needs to be a way that makes the cheater's life hell mid match. Turn off their damage so they cant do any damage to enemies, make it so that they take more damage from all sources or reduce their total health, and make it so that the game force draws no matter the actual outcome, and just leave the cheater to decide if they want to be spawn camped and have their fun ruined for another 4 minutes before they're banned, or they leave the game and are banned upon the game finishing off or them leaving. I believe that the best way to keep cheaters from seeking out cheats is to ruin the prospects of having fun while cheating. I know a system like this would be crazy hard to set up, seeing as the current DM system has been on vacation for several seasons now, but it would make me so happy to see cheater vods like this expect all the hits their landing do zero damage and they get farmed all game until they leave and get banned upon leaving lol
Last time i reported someone was 2months ago, which in that case was a hard locking sombra with an account wide 75-80% accuracy... TODAY i got a "thank you" message for reporting said player. As for detecting spin botters... CSGO / CS modders solved that issue years ago with serverside mods. Essentially you are checking for extensive rotations and abnormally high accuracies... which should be fairly logical as you are not going to run around with 80% accuracy while spinning at 1500rpm for the entirety of a match.
You know what's even sadder? They're probably at least a Platinum level player without cheats, they're just trying to cheat their way to the top now. But they might bottom out at Masters, late Diamond (if we're lucky) before the ban wave washes them away.
i think i have an answer for the question you asked at 18:17 there are so many closet cheaters in diamond and masters with 0 game sense or movement but somehow pre aim the weirdest angles and have softlocks that make their aim look like new ow pros that people who dont know anything about cheating cant tell or are cheating themselves. i had a game where the tracers on both teams had identical aimbots but the enemy tracer called out mine first.
The funny/interesting part is that every time i log in to OW2 i get 1-2 "thanks for reporting" notifications (logging in mabe 2-3 times per week). Must be that they are just understaffed with all these hackers since it became free to play.
The Korean just makes it funnier. They have so much envy and so badly want to be one of these Korean pro gamers that they write a name in Korean and crank cheats up to full just to get a taste by rolling on metal ranks.
Watching a hacker's POV used to be entertaining for me because of how ridiculous the aimlock is, but now i just feel sick because its becoming so common and it seems like they aren't getting banned at all. Especially those that openly cheat like this dude, in ranked no less.
I hate some of the Thor videos. People just take what he says as fact because they look at him as some authority. He worked on a game that some people would argue had the worst botting problems in gaming when he was there. Plenty of games ban players MIDMATCH, including overwatch's latest competitor deadlock, who will let you turn cheaters in your lobby into frogs so you can mess with them before cancelling the match and reversing any mmr loss.
@@sumisu_senpai_6280 yeah it gives players currently in the game an option to just end the game or turn the cheater into a frog for a bit. Where they can’t do anything but hop around and die, you can look up videos of it on RUclips
Thor's ban wave needs context into which he is speaking. He did bans in World of Warcraft which is an MMORPG. Botting to grind l is different from aim-botting. One ruins the game progression while the other ruins another person's day. I got this wrong when I first heard it, but now have a better understanding.
I think a lot of the difficulty comes from the fact that there are just so many cheaters that you can't go through manually and review anything. And with how good some people actually are, mechanically, it becomes difficult to write something that can actually tell the difference every time. It becomes a really bad thing if some of your best mechanical players start getting banned because the anticheat detected they were too good. That being said I dont understand how someone with a literal 100% headshot accuracy every game, while spinning at enough RPM to drill through concrete doesn't get picked up and dealt with. That is inexcusable.
these people get to play for months because they will spend money in the blizzard shop while if i complain and dont buy anything i get silenced and suspended for speaking up against cheaters in game. Don't give blizz any money and see how they treat you as a customer.
Idk if this means anything on PC, but my buddy and I have grandfathered ow1 accounts on our Xbox accounts and the last week we've been getting messaged over and over again about "the value of our account" and how people want to buy it. So that could be how these bronze accounts are getting bought. Idk how that works on the PC though
Ban waves only apply to automated tools. If you report someone for cheating and someone looks at the replay and it's obvious, that doesnt tip off any hack/cheat makers to anything, thats literally a visual recognition of a cheater and they should be banned as easily as someone that is verbally abusive. Ban waves are automated tools that detect and ban systematically without the need for reporting.
btw if you didnt know that, only one report per game actually counts. thats why the autoban bot system takes so long. so there are no 9 reports for one game
Blizzard should add a draw option for modes like clash and escort, its unfair for both sides. Whether you have a hacker or someone trolling, there should still be an option to have a stalemate since it defeats the satisfaction of playing ranked
Automation and "ai" is the worst thing to happen to sevices, change my mind. Thousands of ceo's just seeing "hey, this thing does it automatically, why would we need any employees? More money!" Has resulted in every single fking company on the planet having any and all support lines being completely automated, resulting in absolutely useless support lines. So many games eliminating all community support, prefering to just get automated, off the shelf anticheat and never bothering to see if it's actually working. Idk I always find it fascinating when cheaters use Korean names or other languages names, and it translates to either something you might see going around to blend in better or something wacky.

Hinestly fuck it. Let them play the game, throw them in a cheaters queue, stop banning them entirely, and let them ego each other. They're gonna keep making new accounts, so why fucking bother banning them anymore.
all this accomplishes is spin botting not being an option on cheat programs, ban waves are used to catch the creators off guard, you do not want the creators of the cheats to know what catches them. Blizzard: Nothing suspicious here. 😗

Flats, the report system does not work based on number of reports. It works as:

It's the same over in R6 Siege right now with cheaters, I flat out don't play on PC anymore because of this stuff.
I hope we get to see more of this person in ranked.

You know what's even sadder? They're probably at least a Platinum level player without cheats, they're just trying to cheat their way to the top now. But they might bottom out at Masters, late Diamond (if we're lucky) before the ban wave washes them away.
the first guy shouldve reported him for being toxic in voice chat, he probably wouldve been banned already
i think i have an answer for the question you asked at 18:17 there are so many closet cheaters in diamond and masters with 0 game sense or movement but somehow pre aim the weirdest angles and have softlocks that make their aim look like new ow pros that people who dont know anything about cheating cant tell or are cheating themselves. i had a game where the tracers on both teams had identical aimbots but the enemy tracer called out mine first.

The funny/interesting part is that every time i log in to OW2 i get 1-2 "thanks for reporting" notifications (logging in mabe 2-3 times per week). Must be that they are just understaffed with all these hackers since it became free to play.
I genuinely don’t understand how this can be fun for them.

Thor's ban wave needs context into which he is speaking. He did bans in World of Warcraft which is an MMORPG. Botting to grind l is different from aim-botting. One ruins the game progression while the other ruins another person's day. I got this wrong when I first heard it, but now have a better understanding.
“The benefit of the doubt guys? Really?” 😂😂😂😂😂
They should have a system in place that looks at headshot percentages. If it's over a threshold, you'd think it gets flagged to look at 😂
Automation and "ai" is the worst thing to happen to sevices, change my mind.
Thousands of ceo's just seeing "hey, this thing does it automatically, why would we need any employees? More money!" So many games eliminating all community support, prefering to just get automated, off the shelf anticheat and never bothering to see if it's actually working. I mean, it's already established fact at this point that the only way you can get any actual support for 99% of large companies is to raise enough of a stink on twitter to get a larger content creator to notice you and boost your call to aid. It's fking pathetic
