I played an original MXR chorus for years...the old 120 volt ac big yellow one and then went to a boss and many others. I picked up a MXR micro chorus because it was really inexpensive used and rediscovered that the MXR analog chorus pedals seem to have a certain sound and feel to them.....lucky guess on my end though 🤓 I still recommend the MESA tone burst for a clean boost.....
@@davismusic3674 - funny you mentioned the Tone Burst cuz I just looked at it AGAIN yesterday, lol. There’s that one and a Duncan Cutting Room Floor (or something like that) that I’m thinking about. Take care
For sure, and because it’s not full of surface mount components and ICs I expect the tube wizards will start posting mods eventually. I’d like to tighten mine up just a tad, but an overdrive through the front does pretty darn good.
Yep, getting ready for a full review and really, really, really liking this amp. For less than the DSl40 or HT20 it’s a MUCH better tone machine imo. Thanks for swinging by.
Ya, you’re correct. If I said hand wired, I meant hand made... whatever that means, lol. I’ve seen their “factory” and they craft the chassi, solder in the components, etc... no robots or smart machines.
Sounds like something I might have said a while ago, lol. I dipped my toe back into the muddy waters of FB but without using my last name this time, but rather ‘oldguyjammin’ so I wouldn’t be as visible to old contacts and ancient ghosts. Re the fx loop, I think you’re right about it being parallel... still fooling around with it but my JHS attenuator doesn’t work like it should either??? The attenuator still lowers the effect levels but not the amp volume until the attenuator gets to the almost off position. Not to big a deal, great tones!
@@oldguyjammin9732 I do the same thing on Flakebook. This is my user name there too, and I treasure my anonymity (however little of it I have left). I've been accused so many times of it being a fake account because of this carefully chosen moniker, but alas, no. It's my real account, and use this for reasons discussed here.
@@DarthEcoli haha, that’s pretty funny, love your name, very clever. I tried FB under my real name and all sorts of family and past ghosts came out of the wood work, shut it down about a week later. I really like what Wangs is doing and would definitely own one of their amps, but is it just me, or do they have a striking resemblance to Egnater amps? Almost makes me wonder if they're built in the same factory. Also, if you like JCM 800 2204s, check out Wangs 2204HW. You mentioned Darrell Braun, so chances are that you've seen it too.
I’m actually not real familiar with the JCM 800 but it does have a sizable following. I’ll double check but one of the other Wangs I was looking at was reportedly very bright. From what I know, the Wangs are assembled in a pretty simple, small batch operation rather than a factory. I would say the Egnater quality is definitely a step up from Wangs. I recently had mine apart and added some goop to the larger caps... know what I mean?
@@oldguyjammin9732 The JCM 800s were really just what the JMP 2204 spawned from, and therefore what the 100 watt 1959 Superleads spawned from, but only 2 inputs instead of the four the Superleads had, and added a master volume. That's what gave them even more gain than the Plexis. They're definitely gain monsters.
I just got an HD30 and the drive channel has a ton of 60 cycle. I believe you commented that yours was really quiet, right? Wondering if there's an issue with mine.
Yep, mine is really quiet...? Dimmer switch on? Try different power cord, different guitar, input cable and even different outlet. You’ve probably tried those already but I’ve come across some weird stuff, even a power cord that was loud for some reason - threw it out!
@@oldguyjammin9732 Will do! Thanks! The crunch channel doesn't have the same noise... Even with the gain dimed. One of the tubes that came with it blew it's lid last night, too. This one may have to go back for some repairs I'm afraid.
Congrats on the anniversary
Thumbs up for the Fulltone sticker.
Happy New Year Old Guy!
Your chorus pedal on the clean sounded especially good..... analog ? MXR ? ......Happy New Year to you 😎
Wow, you either know my pedal board or have a great ear, YES - MXR Analog Chorus. It’s one of the few that holds up under a load of dirt :)

Love mine. Slightly different style cleans but I love it for the high gain tones. Thick and fat.

Sweet amp, I saw these on DB channel also 👍

Awesome little amp...orange doesnt give any foot switches either and they're expensive.....happy holidays brother...
Nice amp indeed, but this model is not handwired. They do have handwired models like the 1987 or HW 2204 though

I refuse to have a facebook account so communicating with that guy is going to be a problem. lol

Wang amps are great are great amps. Send me a cut off your money tree to buy all this. Happy New Year
Gutter guards my friend :) My hands are cut all to heck but there’s really good mad money in installing gutter guards, lol.

Let's hear it through speakers?
Guess I’m not understanding your comment, cuz I always play through speakers. It’s plugged into the 2x12 cab it’s sitting on...? Happy New Year!

Is that U.S or Canadian? 5bills ? Wow ,, don't sound cheap 😳
You’re right but comparing to an MT15 or LBX, EVH, ENGL, or MESA it’s certainly more “affordable” :)
