    Wish the commentators would say what the faults are. Sometimes I couldn’t tell

    • @HebaruSan
      @HebaruSan Год назад +14

      Not sure how much you know about the courses in general, but there's a rule that they can't jump off the A-frame or dog run obstacles from up high, they have to step on the white painted part of it. Some of the less obvious faults are for that.

    • @kathrynmeyer402
      @kathrynmeyer402 Год назад +6

      Yeah was gonna say something similar but contact parts need at least one paw to hit the white like the dog run or a frame. It’s for the safety of the dogs, but can be very hard to miss and easy for the dog to miss too.

      Many ways to pick up faults in agility. Thats what makes it difficult. Most common is jumping the jump from the wrong side or going off course. Missing the entry of the weaves, not getting a foot on the contact area or jumping off the teeter before the bottom touches completely.

      They have to touch the white markers when jumping OFF something if they go past an obstacle/ do the wrong coarse, knock a fence or the weaves

    Is there no way that the instructors can first get a briefing of the course, before the dogs has to participate😮😮😮😮 Feel so sorry for the doggies that has to loose points because of the instructors that don t know the course😢

    • @malindakelleher4948
      @malindakelleher4948 Год назад +8

      The humans "walk" the course beforehand, without their dogs. Usually it is like 8-10 minutes the handlers get to spend out on course, learning it, coming up with a plan, etc

    • @Littledebeofficial
      @Littledebeofficial Год назад +2

      this is a hard sport that had long coures so walking the course can help us show our dogs where to go. a good hanlder that has a strong bond with their dog can do this. to the dogs its a game so they enjoy it either way.

    With so many teams having problems one could think the course is set up for failure, especially those at the front of the line.

    • @mattm7798
      @mattm7798 Год назад +2

      Good point. When everyone fails...it's not the dogs fault but the course set up

    R these events breed specific? All dogs r border collies

    • @Camille-is6jz
      @Camille-is6jz Год назад +10

      No, border collies just tend to win because so they are so agile and smart so they’ve become popular for this sport. In fact, they have ABC competitions meaning “anything but collies” so it gives other dogs a chance to win. Just like how in the small dog category, working cocker spaniels and shelties dominate.

    • @genericname8727
      @genericname8727 Год назад +2

      Sometimes other breeds win agility competitions too, but border collies are quick and smart working dogs so they’re very popular in the sport. They do different size categories so you’ll definitely see other dogs competing in the different size categories, but you’ll also still see other breeds competing against the border collies too. I’ve heard that one problem with border collies is that they’re so quick and eager that they often make more faults in these competitions, but that doesn’t stop the breed dominating the sport.
      Border collies seem popular in almost all dog sports because of their energy and trainability, but other dog sports like flyball and dock jumping don’t seem so dominated by the border collies.
