It is prayer. Perfectionism is difficult to let go of as a musician, but it is the soul of the music--our passion for it expressed through the love with which we perform it--that releases it to seek out that which is above, around, and beyond us. Quality must always be pursued, but without love it is not music. Sincere thanks for sharing this!
Beautiful! This speaks to my blood. I have Irish and Scottish in my ancestry. You couldn't tell by looking at me, but my maternal grandmother's side comes from the McCoy line of the famous McCoy and Hatfield feud. Lol. And I get the perfectionist thing. I think being ok with mistakes and vulnerability can help a performer's confidence. Learning to laugh at ourselves when we mess up also helps. 💛
Too short!!! For me, it's the nicest version of this gorgeous song. I was looking for a sung version of it, because I'm learning Irish and try to sing Irish songs for pronunciation purposes in Irish now and noticed that this is more often heard as an instrumental and wanted to know what it sounds like when it's sung. I found several versions. Ach is breá liom conas a chanann tú é sin! I stumbled across it by accident and this can make you start learning sean-nós singing, so, so, beautiful. I'm going to follow you on Instagram as well to not miss anything anymore.
She sings it well but doesn't sing it with that true old Irish Gael tone that can only come from a pure Gael born and bred in Éire. There's many amazing version and this is not the best version she singing. Try listen to old tone without any fancy modern music equipment ruclips.net/video/hdskdLV4MWY/видео.htmlsi=vLxXBNIBOMpkGQ7u
The melody of Róisín Dubh starts in the earth beneath your feet; then, very slowly, it gathers and rises up through the body where it grows until it reaches the voice of someone like Madelyn who gives it soul and breathes life into something that becomes perfectly created . . . simply by being.
Amazing! I’ve been subscribed for over a year and every time I’ve hear one of your songs it’s just incredible. Love your Harp playing as well. Keep going!
A Róisín ná bíodh brón ort fé'r éirigh dhuit: Tá na bráithre 'teacht thar sáile 's iad ag triall ar muir, Tiocfaidh do phárdún ón bPápa is ón Róimh anoir 'S ní spárálfar fíon Spáinneach ar mo Róisín Dubh. Little Rose, be not sad for all that hath behapped thee: The friars are coming across the sea, they march on the main. From the Pope shall come thy pardon, and from Rome, from the East- And stint not Spanish wine to my Little Dark Rose.
