@@thedukeofswellington1827 Wasn't just talking about her, though her privileged upbringing doesn't mean not so much as rough as the rest of us. Like most of the wealthy, the psychological need to be emotionally loved and the unmet needs of being othered is relatable.
Her cousins had intellectual deficits. Possibly fetal alcohol related, or genetic. No matter, they were born into a time when any family was advised to institutionalize and forget the disabled children. ANY FAMILY.

I don't know if it's covered in the TV show, but the Burke's entries are fake. Nerissa died in 1986 and Katherine in 2014 - substantially out-living Princess Margaret as it happens.

She was so spoiled. Took the wheelchair meant for her mother on one occasion. She wouldn't have worried about cousins. Just gave her something to do.

The Royal Family had nothing to do with the Bowes-Lyon Family decisions. The parents of these children made decisions on how to care for them in the best way possible for the time period. Queen Elizabeth 2 had no control over any of that. Please remember that even today, there are people who cannot cope with being caregivers to family and the effected person is best served in a proper facility.
What an ignorant statement. It is not up to the parents or drs whether a human being should be allowed to live a normal life. It is a human right. What happened in history is not an excuse to lock people up and pretend they are dead today.
